Hello, friends, and welcome to bedtime stories with mister jim O. I was just getting ready for bed, are you as well? Oh good, I hope you brushed your teeth and found all of your comfy things like pillows and blankets and stuffies. Oh yes, oh good. Well, as long as you have all those things ready, then it's time for our story. But first we must close our eyes so that we can travel to an imaginary world. In a small village john a tiny mountain surrounded by the ocean, there lived
a little boy named Maverick. Maverick loved his island on the ocean. Every day he splashed and played in the water, and every night the waves shushed him to sleep. Maverick felt so close to the ocean that he would talk to it like it was a dear friend, telling it his troubles. Every night, as his worries left his lips, the ocean would hear them and carry them away far out to sea. One particular night, Maverick had a lot on his mind ocean. He said, I don't think I
will be able to sleep tonight. Tomorrow is my first day of school in the village. What if I don't like it? What if the food is yucky. The ocean heard Maverick's concerns and tried to carry them away, but he held on tight. Ocean, what if I can't make any friends? Loud waves crashed to shore, trying to shake the little boy away from his worries, but Maverick just sighed and turned off his light, not letting go of his worries. Unable to fall asleep, the waves began their
nightly routine. Sh sh went their comforting sound as they gently crashed on the sandy shore, but it wasn't working the way that it always had before. Maverick still could not sleep, so the ocean called out to the birds to sing a lullaby. The birds responded, perching in a tree by the little Boy's window, and began cooing a sleepy song. The song was quiet and beautiful, but Maverick just stared at the ceiling inside. After a few more melodies,
the birds flew away to their nests. Now sleepy themselves they were. The ocean thanked the birds for their help, but did not give up. It reached out to the crickets who stayed awake all night, and asked them to play their musical chirps. For this little boy. They agreed, rubbing their wings together and chirping along to a bedtime tune. The night became noisy with the soothing sounds of a summer night, with the crickets making music together all around
the tiny island. But their noise began to fade. They saw the boy was still tossing and turning. It's not working. I can't sleep, Maverick told the ocean. But the ocean cared for this little boy and decided to keep trying. The waves reached out to the wind, who often soothed other children to sleep in the village. The wind responded, rustling through the leaves of the trees with a soft hushing sound. Hush, hushsh it said all around the village.
The clouds above noticed the hush of the wind blowing. They did not want to be left out, so as the soft wind blue, the clouds opened up and released a light, soft rain. The soft pitter patters landed on the little boy's window sell and danced on the roof. Big rain drops, big round ones pip and plopped along their own sleepy tune. The drip of the rain drops mixed it sounds and with the breeze through the trees, and the soft crash of the waves, creating the ultimate
trio of soothing sounds. All the little boys and girls on the island were now surely asleep, all of them except one. Maverick yawned and stretched, struggled to find a comfy spot. He was still holding on to those worries about tomorrow Morrow. No matter how calm and soothing the sounds of nature outside his window were, it was not enough. But the ocean still had one last hope. It called out to someone else who loved the boy just as much as the ocean did. A soft scratch sounded on
Maverick's door. He looked toward it as his dog, Grew pushed the door open with her nose. She patted in quietly over to him. Rue jumped up onto his bed and nuzzled her way under his arm, curling up beside him. After just a few minutes, her soft belly rose up she drifted off to sleep under the little boy's arm. He held his dog tightly, feeling loved and safe. Her warm fur made him sleepy as his eyes finally began to close. Cuddled up with his cozy pup, Maverick finally
let his worries go and drifted off to sleep. As they drifted off to see outside, the waves crashed lightly against the shore, sending a quiet shh shhh through the little Boy's open window. The ocean silently thanked the dog for helping its favorite little boy go to sleep. Well, my friends, as we lay in our comfy beds with our comfy blankets and pillows, I wish you all very happy dreams. Good night, my friends. But b
