Episode description

This week on the podcast I am honored to have percussionist Eric Bobo on the podcast. Before he became known as a member of Cypress Hill, and before he performed with the Beastie Boys, we chat about how he took over as director of his late father’s Latin jazz band. Legendary percussionist Willie Bobo, who played alongside iconic artists like Tito Puente (with whom he received mentorship from) and Carlos Santana, might be best known for his contributions to the Latin Jazz genre, but he was also one of the most influential musicians to the early years of hip-hop. It's an all encompassing discussion that leads up to the new body of work 'Empires' with Stu Bangas, which is out now!
