Episode description

It's February, which means that the world is celebrating the Life & Achievements of a Detroit Legend. James Dewitt Yancey - Jay Dee aka J Dilla. I found the best way to celebrate, is by focusing on his legacy and the future by inviting Young RJ of Detroit-based hip-hop heavyweights Slum Village on the show to tell us about his journey as a 15 year old being mentored by Dilla and showcasing various artists on what his work has meant to them over the years. We talk about the Slum brand, his solo work up to his latest body of work which involves Mega Ran, who is teaming up with Young RJ for a collaborative album titled 2HandsUp. Ahead of the LP’s March release, the newly-formed duo premieres chats about how it came together and I preview the lead single “Pray” featuring background chats about Abstract Orchestra and more.
