Scott Rokis is a full-time freelance traveling sports photographer. He mostly travels via his van across the northern hemisphere capturing events such as Red Bull’s Rampage (an epic Moutain Biking competition in Utah), Destination Trail’s 200mile races (amazing long-distance trail runs across the Pacific Northwest), rock climbing and more! Learning of Scott through his work in photography and interest in outdoor sports, I recognized a common pattern that I see amongst all of the interesting, ambitious and exciting people that I’ve talked to. As Scott would push himself into the uncomfortable and unknown, he’d pursue his curiosity without sacrificing it for immediate comforts. Enthralled with the adult feeling of play, he would “work hard” and find creative solutions to delight in his excitement. From being bound to a highly demanding career in corporations to transitioning to a traveling freelance photographer, his story is all but unattainable to the determined person pursuing their version of the most exciting form of play. What’s more, is Scott’s pursuit of fulfillment was rife with adversity, hardship, unexpected changes and as a result - growth.
