But today we are reaping the fruits of 70 years of materialistic ideologies (matter is all there is). 70 years of moral decline and the dehumanizing effects that followed from being unmoored from God and all the is true, good and beautiful.
Why do we need the event of Good Friday in our lives? Because we need love! "God is love... is it any wonder that John Paul II wrote in his first encyclical, “Man cannot live without love. He remains a being that is incomprehensible for himself, his life is senseless, if love is not revealed to him, if he does not encounter love, if he does not experience love and make it his own, if he does not participate intimately in it."--JPII in Redemptor hominis
