I've got my chickil A drink here, I have a sun Joy. I'm enjoying a branded homophobic, transphobic Arnold Palmer down here. We don't call them Arnold Palmer's in the land of Chick fil A, in the land of the hateful Chicken. We call it a sun joy because that's positive. Hey, everyone, Carmen here, Welcome to the first ever Beauty Translated minisode. I'm excited to introduce the topics to you today, starting out with our first segment, I fucking hate it here

all about why I fucking hate it here. Okay, So, first up, hate to bring us bad news at the top of the first Beauty Translated minisode. But I wanted to talk about our recent disappointment with President Biden and how he promised to protect trans students from sports bands in school with a new Title six proposal. But it turns out that the proposal may actually ban trans students from sports based on the way that it can be interpreted.

But I wanted to go through and talk about how Biden made a proclamation on Trans Day of Visibility that he was going to put an end to the sports bans and put an end to the nationwide anti trans legislation. Instead, he released basically a half baked proposition that is going to allow for people to limit trans athletes. So the proposal was released April sixth, We've been waiting for it

since July of twenty twenty two. So in high schools and colleges, this would prevent school from keeping trans students out of sports teams that match their gender identity if the school follows a list of guidelines and so some of the highlights of the guidelines would include they would

have to minimize harm for trans students. Now, this is a specific language that people are taking issue with, so the school cannot be making blanket assumptions about trans students, especially trans girls physical abilities, and schools also have to be able to prove that exclusion is part of the genuine educational mandate, which they list, one of which would

be fairness in competition. So, in other words, the way that I understand it, the language of the proposal is not ironclad enough to protect all trans students, and it's vague enough to where schools could use this in any way that they decide to exclude trans students. So it just feels like he kind of half delivered on that promise, because some states will choose to interpret that how however

they want. Unfortunately, So in the next segment that I wanted to talk about was one that super producer Jess actually brought to my attention through a lovely little reel on Instagram. And this news is from April fourth, and this is a recent trend we've been seeing. It's something we can celebrate. So let's move on to the next segment of let's celebrate that. And what I want to celebrate today is New Jersey signing an executive order protecting

gender affirming healthcare in the state. Woo cheers for the State of New Jersey. We love that. Never been to the Garden State myself, but we just talked to a guest from there, and it sure does sound beautiful right

about now. So Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order Number three twenty six establishing New Jersey as a safe Haven for gender affirming healthcare by directing all state departments and agencies to protect all persons, all patients against potential repercussions resulting from providing, receiving, assisting in providing or receiving, seeking, or traveling to New Jersey to obtain gender affirming health

care services. As access to gender affirming healthcare is threatened across the country, today's executive order reflects the Murphy's administration's commitment to fostering a safe affirming healthcare environment in New Jersey. And that is from the Governor of New Jersey's website.

So yeah, let's celebrate that. Let's celebrate New Jersey. So to kind of conclude all of that, even with all of the recent anti trans legislation going on across the country, there are multiple states in the country right now that are looking at making their states safe havens for trans people to receive gender affirming care, and I hope that we can see a future where that becomes something protected in all fifty one states. Stay tuned for this week's episode,

coming out on Wednesday. With Callie Williams, the CEO of Pagestrum, Barbie the me McQueen herself. We talk about identity politics and cancel culture. So tune in for another fun, full length episode of Beauty Translated. Stay Beautiful, Young,
