Hello, everybody, Everybody, this is Spice.

spk_0:   0:03
This is salty. Welcome to the three B Y podcast for today. It's a beautiful walk. Today we're recording is it's a beautiful and I do mean a gorgeous Saturday afternoon here. Yeah, it's afternoon. Heard the tent. The lot of the whistles flowed in the last town. The new whistles. You're not familiar with small rural communities in Midwest? The fire alarms or the attorney alarms go off every day at noon. I

spk_1:   0:30
gotta tell you when it's time to eat lunch.

spk_0:   0:32
That's right. That sze dinnertime. Yeah, you can tell she's not from around here. She's originally She is, is she says, lunch. It's not lunch. It's dinner. Yeah, breakfast. Get dinner and you get supper like, uh, in Great Britain, where you have 11 Z's and Tia's Well way don't have 11 CDs and t we have a coffee break.

spk_1:   0:59
Second breakfast. No, wait. That's Lord of the Rings.

spk_0:   1:02
No, we're not. We're far out there, but we're not quite to Gondor. That's Ah geek joke. There. Welcome to the big show. Today we got we got a chauffeur. You gun lovers out there. Sorry. Aboutthe road noise. As you know, we, uh, Courtney's while we're traveling and we're in the were in the 1990 something Silverado studio. And as wonderful as this truck is, it's closing on 300,000 miles, which isn't too bad for a Chevrolet twenty five hundred 3/4 ton truck.

spk_1:   1:40
Some of the some of them have been hard miles,

spk_0:   1:42
so they have been hard miles everything's. But having said that, you can imagine that the weather ceiling in this truck is not the quietest in the world. So we apologize about any road noise you hear in the background. I'll try and filter out can. So if our voices sound a little weird, it's because I have filtered out a lot of road noise today.

spk_1:   2:05
Let's go with that story

spk_0:   2:06
today after you hear a little bit of microphone adjusting noise out of spice to years of crackling in a second as she raises her microphone in front of her mouth a little bit. There we go. Um, we're going to start talking about a new optic that's going on the top of my DeVore X 95. It's a very, very, very. It's the same model. It's a slightly different urge of the same model what spice has on her to four x 95. And I just want her describe it.

spk_1:   2:38
I love this thing. It's the EOE tech e x p s three.

spk_0:   2:42
This particular one is yesterday. Dash, Hers is the s just the straight up.

spk_1:   2:50
Yeah, the difference is mine has one aim point. His has to aim dots for different distances.

spk_0:   2:58
Uh, radical dots, one m away dots. They're very, very small. And then they have a larger I don't remember 65 or 85 uh, circle semi circle around it to make target acquisition very quick.

spk_1:   3:19
And if any of you are in my camp with your biggest problem with shooting is that your vision is not very good. That is a giant blessing over other red dot kinds of scopes of use.

spk_0:   3:31
Basically, there's been a lot of debate, and we're not going to go into the debate because everybody has their own things, which is better? Hey, the attack style site. Yeah. Aim point style site or getting away from the holographic sites entirely because this this particular one we she has in her and right now is more of a holographic. So It's not really a red outside holographic sight. There is a difference. Uh, or going with something like, um, Digicon Trillium a cock site, which our great love, but I I I'm not a gunfighter, okay? I don't do this for a living. My gun. I'm not carrying this. Just not carrying this of or around with me all day long, every day in combat situations. And if I were, I would put it a car guy. What? I'm not going out a top of the $1900 that these divorce cost and dropping a $1700 optic. It's just not happening. Not for the not for my Oh, not my budget. And not for what we use this gun for. Because this this gun has a specific. Yeah,

spk_1:   5:01
the coyotes. They're not worth 3000

spk_0:   5:03
dollars. This that. This gun has a specific purpose. And that is a close quarters. Fast reaction. High powered. Right. So let me let her tell you a little bit about Theo. Tex I she's got it, won it in her hand. It has not yet been mounted, and it's brand new,

spk_1:   5:26
but I've been using mine, so I'm familiar with the use of him. First of all, I wanted to remember to tell you it uses a 123 battery. So it's got about 800 hours of battery life. It does have auto battery Shut off. Once you quit touching the controls that adjust this sucker, it'll give you four hours. If you turned it on with one button and it'll give you eight hours if you turned it on with the other button before it auto shuts off. So you don't have to worry about accidentally leaving this thing on and having no battery left. And that gives you something like 100 hours are 100 different uses of eight hours and it turned itself off. You can also turn it off yourself immediately after use if you want to,

spk_0:   6:14
which we do recommend, Actually, I mean, he has got a huge ridiculous by the battery life. But why waste it? I mean, if you're going to be having it, if you're gonna be a gunfighter and have this thing on all day long every day, never turn it off and be ready to roll. Racket roll 24 7 You might be better off with the name point, which have you could just leave on for four years. They just don't die. Their battery life is free,

spk_1:   6:44
if that's you. You probably don't need my advice, though,

spk_0:   6:46
right? On the other hand, the endpoints completely set up. So we're not really gonna go into the aim points? I'm just saying that bad a battery life is your number one thing as opposed to ease of acquisition, the size of the window, huh? That sort of thing. Then maybe this is not as good as a name point. It's better, in my opinion and most everything else but battery life. 800 hours. Come on and heads up. The other thing about the battery life is we always always recommend having iron sights on your God. It just it makes no sense to take a gun out there and depend upon technology for that firearm to work. The divorce have Ironsides built into, which is great. Nice little sites is pop up there ready to go? Um, no thes models for the best things about him is they come ready to go to ko. OK, standard they are site Cole. Okay. It's perfectly with the flip up built in sites on the divorce,

spk_1:   7:55
and that worked beautifully. One

spk_0:   7:57
right. So if the battery dies, you don't even have to take the aim point off it just perfectly. It's just using

spk_1:   8:05
you. Text

spk_0:   8:06
me the video check up. You don't have to take an obvious pop your pop, your backup sites in and go. But if you did want to take it off for whatever reason, it has a quick really Whoa, that's the car was over the line. Excuse Mei. Survival tip number one. Where your dad gum. Seatbelt. We almost had to take the ditch in the struggle role, But we would be okay because we're wearing our seat belts and wouldn't get slowed clear, but

spk_1:   8:33
the kayak in the back would have had a bad day.

spk_0:   8:35
Yeah, well, we've got We were allowed here in the boonies in these roads are narrow that have no shoulders. They drop right off so extremely dangerous roads. Anyway, beside the point,

spk_1:   8:49
I actually had to be sold on the site because I for one, I usually just shoot iron sights. And two, I wasn't excited about spending that much money on a gun. I wasn't gonna be shooting every day, but using it sold me first thing about it. This sucker is sturdy. I don't worry about normal, reasonable use of the weapon breaking the site. And the mounting is sturdy enough that I'm confident that the thing is going to stay mounted where I put it. And it's not gonna drift because I had in the case and it got jiggled or something like that. The attachments and the quick release all worked very nicely.

spk_0:   9:30
Quick release, in fact, is they claim it. I haven't tried it yet. They claim that the quick releases two mos akra. So if you take it off, you put it back on. You will be and your gun was will cite it in at 100 yards. You will be with the two m away, ready to go right now. That's what they claim, considering

spk_1:   9:54
the feel of it, the mechanical feel of it, and the way it mounts on the rails. I find that plausible.

spk_0:   10:00
Well, that's that's a manufacturer claim. I have never actually taken off and put it back. You might try that sometime just to see what it will do. Okay, Next

spk_1:   10:12
thing about this is I loved the sight picture. It's got a big window and having the head positions slightly differently relative to the window. You still see everything nice and beautiful, and that has not been my universal experience,

spk_0:   10:27
right? This'll site actually is parallax free. You can put your eye anywhere as long as you can see the circle. It's going on target. There's a lot of sites after that claimed to be parallel free, that

spk_1:   10:41
I intentionally got sloppy with it after I cited mine in just to see how much slack it was gonna give me. And I was pleased with the way maintained accuracy, even if I just kind of threw it up on my shoulder and did the thing.

spk_0:   10:56
I do have to throw in a caveat here. Now we've got thes sites and the's air for our four x 95 which are fantastic. Close quarter goes, but they're also not guns that are no for there. Sub em away. Accuracy these air rack, great rifles. The soldiers rack great rifles, which basically means they're sold to be within four M away at 100 yards. Now I know a lot of people who are they are fanatics who die Alors into some m away guns. Think that's absolutely horrendous and ridiculous. This gun is not a target. Got his gun. Is is a self defense. Guns, guns for killing coyotes. Killing varmints is not. It is not a target.

spk_1:   11:50
And if you put a night vision scope on it, the coyotes made me think of that. Because if coyotes start getting after the chickens, it's they're gonna come at night. I know what coyotes are active. It's got a night vision setting. And if you hit the night vision button that comes on at, how are setting a four out of 20 so it doesn't overpower UH, 20 total power settings If you turn it on with the two normal day vision buttons, there's one to increase brightness and won the decreased brightness there right on the side of the scope. So they're easy to reach. They've got little of a rose on, um, that you can feel by touch which one's which. If you happen to get so 20 different settings, you turn it on with one of the normal day visions. It starts out at 12 out of 20 which I found to be a nice starting point. If you go right above that, you find the night vision button with Brings it on it. Four out of 20. Once it's on, you can adjust it with the buttons at any time. And the four or eight Our turnoff timer runs from the last time you touched the power button.

spk_0:   12:59
Yeah. I don't know if we'll ever use it with night vision scopes or not. Our night vision equipment, not We don't actually own that kind of night vision. We own the night, a night vision, scope and I am in the market. I'm saving up my pennies to buy a thermal scope. Not probably a rifle. Scope it. I'd probably just right by the Fuehrer scouting scope because it just looks like one. Survival. Low survival if you have. If you haven't own 30 or 40 acres of woods, you could have a lot of fun down

spk_1:   13:33
by the pond. Look longer around, looking forward

spk_0:   13:36
to seeing what's out there. And so that will be fun. But hey, wait a minute.

spk_1:   13:44
Some of the elements I like about this the nice little touches you've got your adjustments for elevation and windage. Of course, which are marked in a civilized way. I I'm a little on the dyslexic side, so I can sometimes have trouble about remembering which way to turn scopes. When I'm doing the adjustments, which is really annoying, these guys help you out with nice markings. The turn adjusters for windage and elevation are recess, so you won't touch him accidentally, but they've got good big slots in them, so you can adjust him either with a coin or a big flat bladed screwdriver. So they're easy to use without being easy to just a lot of position. The cover of the battery has dialled, so you could do it by hand. But if it gets too tight, it's also got a slot so you can use a screwdriver without tearing it up if you need to, it's got a little attachment, so the cap for the battery is attached to the scope so you don't take it out to change the battery and the cap goes away and it's gone forever.

spk_0:   14:50
Inside that cap, it does have an O ring. We're sealing out water duster. I don't know how Submersible it is, but it is Submersible. I don't know what the what the depth living off thing is.

spk_1:   15:05
I'm not gonna take it. Scuba diving?

spk_0:   15:07
No.

spk_1:   15:07
So oh, you're really worried about basically, is that unintended? But brief interaction with water doesn't ruin it, and it won't so

spk_0:   15:19
or most likely, being out with a dead guy. Marine. Yeah. So

spk_1:   15:27
getting rained on getting splashed wouldn't worry about it a thing.

spk_0:   15:30
Now, if you're not familiar with the this model of the attack, it's a lot smaller than the older ones. But you're so cool that used the double A batteries, the double A battery ones are. They're really cool because you got the A double a battery. You find them anywhere. The 1 23 batteries are not hard to find, but the double A's are just everywhere, but they're heavier. And even the the first model of this scope had the same. It's not really flawed, but the same thing isn't as is youthful where you got the adjustments for, like the brightness and turn on and turn off. They were on the back of the unit. Where is now? They're on the side of the unit. What that matters is when you put a a magnifier behind this site, you can now adjust all the adjustments on it. With the magnifier in place that I have to move the magnifier aside to do your adjustments and pop magnifier back.

spk_1:   16:38
I've also found it very easy to find and and feel and used the adjusters. What? I'm using the rifle. If I want to change the brightness while not losing my sight picture, I could do that

spk_0:   16:50
now. The best part about the Parallax Free part of the scope is it's designed knowing that you may be running, you may be ducking. You're not always going to have identical cheek well on your gun. In fact, you may not even have a cheek Whoa on your gun. And so the parallax keeping it on the target no matter how you're looking through the site is great. And also the other big, big field of view you get with this site is perfect for battlefield awareness or farm field awareness. If you're using it to kill coyotes, you can keep both eyes open.

spk_1:   17:40
And I do I have trouble with that on some sites. I don't have any trouble at all with it on this

spk_0:   17:44
one is this is this is one of the feet. Design features of the site is designed for the upmost of, uh, awareness awareness, keeping you as aware as possible, keeping you scanning for targets.

spk_1:   18:02
And if there's any reason for you to be out there shooting things, being aware of what else is out, there is two thumbs up way up.

spk_0:   18:09
And that's one of the things that makes it such a spectacular sight and that in the fact that it's just dead on accurate outside. I'm not We're not gonna We're gonna talk about magadha fires when I actually own one. I don't know what it's a moment. I'm probably going to buy looking at buying one of the four techs Magnifier sze. I know we spent the money on the guns. We spent the money on the EOE tech sites, But magnification is something that I think we really nice toe have. If you want to go out to 200 yards, my eyes aren't that good

spk_1:   18:51
and there's no place on our property or you've got 200 yards of clear field of fire.

spk_0:   18:57
But I do want to be able to have the magnification if I want. It s so Basically, I'm thinking about getting one. But having said that, I'm not going to spend the $600.506 $100 to buy a neotek magnifier because I'm just not going to use it that much. I am a firm believer in the D crap ification of guns wth E for X 95 which is what the site is going on is not a particularly light. Got to start with. It has very good balance, so it doesn't feel like it's that heavy.

spk_1:   19:37
It is a fairly nine

spk_0:   19:39
pound gun already there. You're putting an 11 outside on this thing, So that's another you know, you we want to keep the weight of the gun down as much as possible, fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on whether you liked it. D d 23 56 round the rounds and the magazines are very light compared to like at some point since two by 39 oven A k. But you can get a lot of weight on this gun, and I'm a little concerned that once you put the magnifier on it, it's gonna start getting We're the good things about the attack and the style of sight as opposed to a A traditional optic is it keeps the weight of the site back towards the body, not hanging a big chunk of something out front,

spk_1:   20:36
a giant issue when you are a small woman and not big testosterone filled guy to not have that big lever arm with the weight on the end of the lever arm, all the weight is close to the pivot point, so I don't The weight is not even a thing to me either on the rifle itself or on this scope, because the way it's so close to the pivot point where I've got it, it's just so well balanced. I don't care about it.

spk_0:   21:06
So the one thing I want to talk about is the difference between our two optics, the same exact optic. The only difference between the two of them is that mine has two dots and hers have one. I originally debated about getting them identical. My thought was let's just get him identical. So we have just completely identical rigs. Two is 11 is not makes sense, right? But so I actually didn't have any in stock. Yes, I actually ordered one just like the identity, But the silly thing. I don't know what's going on with the attack. This silly thing just didn't come in and it didn't come in and they had one of these two dots on the show. And I have debated pretty seriously between the two. So after after a while, it was like, I want to shoot my gun. So I went ahead and I just take I'll take the We'll take the two dot if you give me a deal on it. Yeah, and give the other one. You know, it's taking a while, so yeah. Okay, so I got a deal on it, and the two dot is set so that the next Oh, you cited in it 100 yards. The next stop down is your 200 yard dot Now they're actually pretty close together. So you don't see that much of a difference between the two dots without having a magnifier? You put the magnifier on it. Now that's what they say. I'm going off. What? They say a friend of mine has to do not. He said which put the magnifier on. It makes a huge difference as far as you can really tell on the point. Uh, the aiming a point of this particulars optic. So I'm gonna get it inexpensive Magnifier move. I'll let you know. I'll let you know how it works. I'll do a review on the magnifier. I'm not like I'm not probably going to buy unless I could find a ridiculous to get a deal on one. I'm not gonna buy a neo Tech one just simply because that's a lot of money to pay for a fire. And the Vortex one has such good reviews. So we'll let you know what you guys you want to say about the EOE Tech.

spk_1:   23:38
There's a reason I bought it. I like it. I have confidence in it.

spk_0:   23:42
Yeah, she likes her. Look, she likes the whole rig. And, uh, yeah, so way we want it. We like it. We waked it enough to buy a 2nd 1 And I don't know what we're gonna put on our next DeVore. I've decided yet. She's granted. She's rolling her eyes. Yeah, we may stop it to all those. We may stop it too. Okay. So thank you for listening. I hope you enjoyed the the little podcast. It will catch back up with you. Hopefully, next week we will talk about something else way actually. Know what we're gonna talk about? I think you'll enjoy it.

spk_1:   24:29
Enjoy your day.

spk_0:   24:31
Have a good day.
