I had a conversation with a member of our church who was most distressed with a verse from 1 John 3:8-9. She read it from the King James Version of the Bible, which (on the surface) reads differently from more modern translations. While this difference is easily explained, it leads to further conversations about how we as evangelicals often misunderstand and even misinform about the nature of the Christian life.
