This FC Barcelona team has proven they don’t really know how to play without Lionel Messi, and Jordi Alba has undeservedly played five times as many minutes as Junior Firpo this season.

The first trophy of the year was in Barcelona’s grasp, after first getting past Real Sociedad in the Spanish Supercup semi-final with Messi out on injury. Athletic Club proved themselves to be deserving opponents in the final. Despite Messi’s return to the pitch, he had almost no impact on the game. Antoine Griezmann put Barcelona ahead, twice, and Athletic equalized twice, exploiting the poor defending of Barcelona’s Jordi Alba.
