Hitting A Stride In La Liga

In two games last week, FC Barcelona scored 10 goals and won six points to stay within striking distance of Atlético Madrid for the championship, trailing by only four points. In a 4:1 defeat of Huesca last Monday, Barca began shooting more from outside the box, and they scored three goals that way, with Ousmane Dembélé and Antoine Griezmann playing in more central positions. Also, Oscar Mingueza opened his scoring account. A road game at Real Sociedad saw an even stronger performance against a much more competitive opponent. Sergiño Dest both began his scoring for Barcelona and became the highest American goal scorer in La Liga history with two goals. Messi scored another two and two more came from Griezmann and Dembélé. We also saw notable, if brief, appearances from Ilaix Moriba and Riqui Puig.
