Rick Hess is the director of Education Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), where he works on K–12 and higher education issues. Dr. Hess started his career as a high school teacher and has since taught at the University of Virginia, the University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University, Rice University, Johns Hopkins University, and Harvard University. His most recent book is “Letters to a Young Education Reformer” (Harvard Education Press, 2017).

Rick joins the show to talk about remote learning during COVID-19, the 1619 Project’s woke curriculum in K-12 education, and free speech and student debt in higher education.
