Only Time (2 Violins and Banjo)

So you still think that a banjo can only play fast and happy stuff? Here is something to bring you some tears in your eyes! Yeah thats pop banjo! Actually I do not listen to pop music that much but this is just one of the most touching melodies I have ever heard in my life. I came across this song on youtube and I was so amazed its beauty that I immediately cancelled all plans for this day and I started to write my own arrangement of this piece. It works so well on banjo and violin! After 3 hour...

Eastbound And Down - Bill Breen

Jerry Reed's popular tune from the movie, "Smokey And The Bandit." I put this arrangement together in response to an email request I received from fellow BHO member, "Furman's Student," Monty from Greenville, SC. I couldn't think of a better tune to post in remembrance of Jerry Reed and Bobby Thompson. Thanks for the inspiration, Monty! My wife, Lynn, is on bass and I'm struggling along on the banjo and guitar.

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly - Bill Breen

Ennio Morricone's great theme to the movie, "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly" done on banjo...complete with the whistling and "Hoo-Hah's." ;^) I was inspired to come up with this arrangement by my guitar picking buddy, Wyatt Troxell, and (believe it or not) "The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain!" This tune was a big challenge. My wife, Lynn, is on bass and "Hoo-Hah's;" I'm on banjo, guitar, whistling and "Hoo-Hah's." :^D I hope you enjoy it!

Caravan - Bill Breen

Caravan redux. It may not be what Juan Tizol, Duke Ellington or even the Ventures would have expected, but it was a fun tune to do. Here is my version of the tune, "Caravan." My wife, Lynn, is on bass and I'm on banjo and guitar.

Lonely Bull - Bill Breen

Herb Alpert's great tune from his Tijuana Brass days. I love his music! My wife, Lynn, is on bass and I'm on banjo and guitar. (No, I didn't modulate to Bb at the end...) ;^)

House of the Rising Sun - Bill Breen

This arrangement is by my good friend, Howard Anderson (aka "Handy 13" on the BHO), of Tempe, Arizona. Irv Wright is on the Dobro, the late Ray Peterson on guitar and my wife, Lynn Breen on bass. There's a little "James Bond" theme thrown in between each verse...

Here Comes The Sun - Bill Breen

This version of the Beatles' song, "Here Comes the Sun," was inspired by Tom Adams' June 2007 column in the "Banjo Newsletter." I always enjoy his music, his articles and his selection of tunes for the "Banjo Newsletter." Thank you, Mr. Adams. My wife, Lynn, is on bass and I'm on banjo and guitar.

Brazil

A classic old samba. I recorded it on an old tape multi-track, and the tape stretched, so it's slower than recorded, but I still like the groove. I used my Ibanez Bi-Centennial banjo, an Ibanez AE100 jazz guitar run through a phaser, a Gibson AJ, and an old drum machine.
