Shontice Marie: Second Act
Episode description
Shontice Marie is a singer-songwriter from Bakersfield, CA. Her name and voice may sound familiar to Kern County/Central Valley music fans during her stint as lead vocalist of popular Cali reggae roots band, Hayesfield, who made a name for themselves during the mid aughts, performing and releasing original music. During this time, I also met and established a friendship with the group, featuring them on a 2006 episode of the Bakotunes podcast (which you will hear during this episode, live from Vinny's Bar!), inclusion on the Bakotopia Music Compilation Vol. I (local music comp.), and booking them on shows with my band Mento Buru. In the years to follow, the band parted ways taking members into very different, and in some cases, chaotic life paths. Now, Shontice is back with a new positive outlook on life that includes motherhood, a busy career, and BACK to new music onstage and in the studio. An inspiring country-fied roots, musical second act you are sure to enjoy. Songs included in this episode: "Baja California" - Hayesfield, live in-studio performances of "Sunshine" and "Lipstick Outlaw", plus a special bonus: "Backdoor" by Hayesfield.
