The idea of a fixed link between Guernsey and Jersey is a question of when, not if, according to a Guernsey actuary. Martyn Dorey says an under water tunnel between the islands is inevitable, and with borrowing rates low, now is the perfect time to engage a £2.6 billion pound project, which he says will be completed in six years and become profitable in 30. So how will it work? What do private investors need, and how much public money would be needed for the feasibility study?
