Episode description

BACKTALK: Our guest, Dr. Decoteau J. Irby  Irby believes that struggle is necessary, progress is possible, and equity is imperative in schools. We discuss what is needed to make a difference for Black children in schools and what schools need to do to make a change. But most importantly, what parents need to look out for and demand to advocate for their children at school.

He wakes up every day to do things that he hopes will bend the world (or at least his world) into a position that is healthier, more affirming, and dignifying for him, his Black children, and others who look like them, and Black people in general.
