My reasoning for the decline in factual information being valued is the manipulation of social media. I believe that the wealthy classes of America created our current social media algorithms to divide people. They experience "culture shock" when they encounter groups and people other to their own. Which explains not only stupid online arguments, but the fast tracking of radical ideals.
