Episode description

(aired 08/07/2023)

On Backchat this week, we bring you a special episode in celebration of NAIDOC Week. Join us as we delve into the rich history and culture of our First Nations peoples, with an line up of 100% Indigenous voices.

First up, we explore something that has now become a common practise in many settings across Australia - an acknowledgement of country. Mundanara Bayles, Director of Blackcard shares how we can transcend the surface level, and foster genuine change through our acknowledgements.

With this year's theme for NAIDOC being 'For Our Elders', we were honoured to be joined by Gumbaynggir educator and Elder, Uncle Michael Jarrett, about his work to safeguard the future of his native tounge.

This episode of Backchat was brought to you by our talented producers Jostina Basta, Tanita Razaghi, Eamonn Snow and Matt Le Guay.
