Episode description

It has been 10 years since Spring Breakers hit the big screen and Gaius and Jackson are looking back at its cultural impact at the time of its release and its relevancy today. Written and directed by Harmony Korine, the film stars James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine and follows four college-aged girls who go on spring break in St. Petersburg, Florida and meet an eccentric drug deal who helps them in a time of desperation that eventually leads to a descent into the wold of drugs, crime, and violence. The duo looks into the film’s themes, imagery, performance and its polarizing response as something that can be viewed as objectifying to women while other view the film as a showcase of female empowerment.
