Episode description

We’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of one of director Steven Soderbergh’s most underrated films, Out of Sight, starring George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, Dennis Farina, Steve Zahn, Catherine Keener, and Albert Brooks. Written by Scott Frank, the film is adapted from Elmore Leonard’s 1996 novel of the same name and follows a career bank robber that breaks of out jail only to share a moment of mutual attraction with a U.S. Marshal he has kidnapped. Joining the team for this episode is JC of @mercwiththemovies on Instagram, who cites this as his favorite Soderbergh film. The trio get into the film’s performances, particularly the combustible chemistry between Clooney and Lopez, the film’s direction and visual style, how the movie helped propel Clooeny, Lopez and Soderbergh to new heights and look into why the film underperformed at the box office at the time of its release.
