Episode description

#144: Ever wondered what it's like to juggle two jobs, house drama, and still find time for a heartwarming getaway? This week's episode is a candid update on the whirlwind that's been my life lately. Between coordinating new interviews and dealing with some unresolved house issues, it’s been a busy time. But don’t worry – if things aren’t sorted by next week, you’ll get the full scoop. Plus, I extend my heartfelt thanks for all the love on our Take Me Back Tuesday episodes, which continue to be a hit while we navigate these scheduling hurdles.

Now, let’s add a splash of fun! Join me as I recount a delightful trip to Nashville with my childhood friend Lorie and her vibrant 11-year-old daughter. We stayed at the Instagram-worthy Graduate Hotel, affectionately dubbed the "Dolly Parton Hotel" for its enchanting pink decor and whimsical Dolly-themed touches. This trip was a dream come true for Lorie's daughter, who had been eagerly awaiting a chance to experience the magic since our birthday adventure last November. Prepare for a burst of joy and some much-needed escapism as we relive this special weekend together.

What is up everyone ? Welcome back to a very short episode . This week I hope you all have been doing wonderful and I just appreciate the love so much for letting me do the Take Me Back Tuesday episodes where I get to play some of the old episodes where maybe some of you have or haven't listened .

I do have some new interviews lined up but the dates are to be determined on the interviews as of right now , due to my work schedule load and a little bit of life stress going on . I know I mentioned a couple weeks ago on an intro that I've just been having a little bit of house drama and I really can't talk about .

Well , I can talk about it , but I'm trying to do the right thing by seeing if the people also involved will do the right thing . So I'm trying to do the right thing by not talking negatively or speaking too soon . So if things are not resolved by next week , then do not worry , do not fret .

I will update everyone and go into as much detail as possible on the issues at hand with the house . But yeah , that's kind of what's going on in my life just a little bit of stress , but also just working two jobs , so I think a lot of people don't . Maybe you don't know if you're not local to Huntsville , but I do not podcast full time .

It is not my main job . I would love it if it was . I enjoy interviewing and I enjoy podcasting and I enjoy conversations that I have in the DMs via email , wherever they may occur . I just enjoy everyone's conversations and their perspectives , but I do work a full-time job , as in healthcare . I try not to give too much like self-identifying information away .

I don't know why . I just don't because I don't want this to be misconstrued because I am in health care . Anything that I say , like if I do a health podcast . You know you have to be careful when you're in health care that you're not giving advice , and this is just strictly like from my perspective or things that have personally happened to me .

But I do have a full-time job in health care and I do work many hours per week . So trying to line up interviews when you work a job Monday through Friday can be a little bit difficult when other people also work jobs Monday through Friday and the only free time we both have is the weekends . So sometimes it lines up and sometimes it doesn't .

So I really appreciate y'all allowing me to do the Take Me Back Tuesday episodes in the meantime until I can get those interviews a little bit more aligned with both parties schedules . But I guess I could recap my Nashville weekend that I had a few weeks back . So if you follow me on Instagram , you saw that I went to Nashville .

We call it the Dolly Parton Hotel . It's really the graduate hotel in Nashville . I went with my friend of , like my one of my longest childhood friends , lori . She's from , we're from Tennessee . I was supposed to say she's from Tennessee , I'm from Tennessee also . Um , and her daughter was turning 13, . I believe I want to say 13 .

I'm going to say that wrong . She's probably 11 . Oh , actually she is 11 . Yeah , anyways , I'm terrible with ages . I know me and my sister got in a fight one time because I couldn't remember my niece's age . But I have like 10 nieces and nephews . It's really hard .

Okay , guys , come on , sue me , but no , I went with her daughter and her daughter brought a friend . So it was really fun just to see like Nashville from a younger perspective's view . And she wanted to take her to the quote unquote Dolly Parton hotel because it's really girly , it's pink . If you haven't been there .

They have this huge Dolly Parton head on the roof . They have like a little pool you have to rent it , unfortunately and then they have a restaurant at the top as well and there's just so many cute little things inside the hotel that you can look at and view and it's great photo ops .

But we so me and her went for my birthday in November of last year and when we were there she was like I've got to bring my daughter back here , and so that's what we did in July and she was eight months pregnant .

So good for her for bringing two girls into the heat , into Nashville , because we gave them an option Like before we had our dinner reservations and everything . We were like do you want to go downtown Nashville ? Do you want to go to the mall ? Do you just want to explore the hotel ?

Well , they wanted to go downtown Nashville , mostly because from the town I'm at and the town I'm from is a small town in Tennessee and it's like an hour , hour , hour and a half from Nashville . That's what we did Like when we were finally of age , like 18 , and you could go to the clubs or you could go out .

That's what we did we would drive to Nashville and spend the night or something like that , and we would just hang out in Nashville . So that's what she wanted to do . She was like let's go downtown .

Well , it had been cloudy all day , you know , not hot , not humid , and as soon as we hit downtown area it is like sun's out , it's so hot , and then we're trying to get into different like stores which , if you've ever been downtown broadway , like the stores that they have are just like kind of like gift shops , like cowboy hats , cowboy boots , things like

that . It's not like you're in the mall and I don't think she realized that when she had chosen to go downtown nashville , but nonetheless we made it a fun time . Um , we got great videos of them because they're also into TikTok and everything right now . So , but I remember one comment she made . She was like oh , where's the Sephora ?

We were like , girl , we are not in a mall , we are downtown , on Broadway . There is no Sephora down here . But anyways , it was a good time Just seeing them , kind of just relish that moment , because that's what we did , obviously not that young , and it was Sunday and it was super packed . And I remember Lori being like why is it packed on Sunday .

I'm like girl , sunday fun day , you don't understand , like that's what people do down here in Nashville , Um . But we then went back to the hotel , we got ready and she got like the cutest little suite , like it was like a bedroom and a living room for all of us , and of course there was sparkling wine .

When I got there it was part of the package , which nobody could drink but me . Obviously , the girls were underage and my friend was pregnant , so I was like you know what , the more the merrier I'll have me a little buzz going on .

So then we got dressed up into cute little outfits and went to the restaurant upstairs and me and her , when we went in November for my birthday , we had like a little table by the um , by the window . There was like a really cute view . And so when we went this time because you have to go before seven if you have anyone under the age of 21 .

And so we went at five , cause you have to be out by seven , and we sat . It wasn't a table but it was like a couch and two chairs with like a little like coffee table in between us . So that was a little different of experience eating there like that , but the food is always amazing there .

They don't have the biggest menu , but food was amazing and we let them get um , some little um . What are they called when they're not ? Oh , uh , uh mocktails . I was like what are they called when they're not ? Oh , not , uh , mocktails . I was like what are they called ?

Um , we let them get little mocktails and just watching them like with their mocktails and trying to tick , tock , it was just the cutest little thing ever .

And then , of course , we go back to the room and we had planned like this spa time , like we were going to do like pedicures , and , um , I got some little tiny tattoos and some face masks and everything , because her daughter's really into all that stuff and me and Lori were like we're gonna do this one face mask and we are going to bed .

That's how old we are . And I think it was like nine o'clock and we were like we are going to bed . So we just laid in the bed and talked forever , because you know when you're hanging out with your best friend that you don't get to see all the time and you're just texting back and forth .

You get to catch up on things and it's like one of those friendships that you just you catch up like old times , like no time has passed , even if we haven't seen each other in a year , but other than that , nothing really has gone on , much other than just , like I said , house stress that I cannot wait to get on here and talk about .

That's probably coming next week , if I had to guess because I'm going to give them one more week because it's been seven weeks that I've been dealing with this as of this Friday , it'll be seven weeks , so if it's not dealt with by this this weekend , then I'll definitely be sharing all . So look out for that episode .

But , yeah , if y'all have any topics that you want us to cover like when I say us , I mean me and menu . We did one last week she'll be back in town this coming week . That's why we couldn't put out one for today . Just send the topics over to my Instagram or her Instagram email is fine as well , or any .

If you have any businesses in town that you want me to cover , I will gladly do that as well . But again , guys , thank you for the support . Thank you for allowing me to take a little bit of a hiatus .

I know I've been doing some new interviews and some throwback um interviews , but I just really appreciate the support that y'all continue to give me in this podcast . I can't believe in January , I think it's going to be a total of four years that this podcast has been going . It's either three or four .

I'd have to go back and look , but I'm pretty sure it's four . No , yeah , four , because I started it in January of 2021 , so January of 2025 will be four years . So I just really appreciate it , guys , and until next time , bye , thank you .
