But if you're doing repelling, you don't really want to double up on the rope, Like when you get comfortable with it, you don't even want to use an ATC what they call it air traffic controller. You don't want to use that because it's too slow. You want to be able to bounce, so you want to like a figure eight and had a freaking carabiner. And then when you get really really cocky. When you start feeling real confident.

It's too boring just to bounce off and you're just sliding down like this because your hand's to break in the rear right, So you put your hand off the side you slide, you hold the other hand steady on the rope, and then you bring your hand behind you and it breaks you. And if you're on dynamic rope, you get a nice little bounce off of it, like a bungee sort of, and uh, it's fun. But if you are doing it for a long period of time on the same rock, your tendency is to say, what

else can I do? Because this is getting It's not exciting anymore doing the same thing. I'm hiking up to the top and doing this eason. What do I What do I get to do now? And then if you turn your I'm not telling you anybody do this. I'm just saying this is how it's done. You flip your harness around so that the strong loop that's intended for all of your weight to be on it's not when your butt. It's now on the back. You put the

harness on backward, so now you flip it. You flip it a bit around your hand in the front will be your break and then you're you know, if you really want to stick your hand behind your back, you could to a guide like that. You don't really have

to kind of guiding the rope. It's always good to have gloves on, some sort of glove, and then you can asso your repel, which means you're facing the ground as you're walking down the rock or jumping, and if it's a chimneyed cliff, like a cliff where once you get over the edge, it kind of is recessed to where you're not gonna be able to even swing back

to hit a wall. If you're if you're just dangling off the edge and it's like kind of cliffed inward, then you can do like basically a bass jump, and you want really good good gloves if you do this though, because of friction, you want you could base jumps technically with your hand way out to your side, and then when you feel like you know, when you're starting to come to the the pinnacle of the of the of the movement, you can then pull into your brake as

you're coming down right and then you do your balance like read at the right moment, and you're not gonna bounce intodaynything like a wall. If it's you know, if it's like got that cliff edge type to it, it's not telling you everybody can get if. I'm not saying anybody should do that, I'm just saying I've done it and it's fun. So it's like base jumping with a rope. It means you get a nice bounce out of it. And by the way, if you go to a moab, it's called the and not Moab is it? I think

it's moab something. It's it's it's a really simple name on TikTok. But they show the stuff in Utah. I guess Utah is it Utah Moab probably. and then I had him do the rock climbing. Well, now we hiked to the top and then we repelled down, so he was having harder time with that. Then, you know, being tied to someone in tandem, there's that comfort level of somebody being a professional right there with you. And he said it was scarier to do that than it was to do the skydiving. So that's that I know this is this is something I used to do all the time twelve years ago over and before that, when

I was in the Coastguard. Was actually a couple of Coastguard friends of mine that taught me and brought me out for the first time. I mean, there's a potential that they were intentionally trying to kill me, but I don't think so. One of them was a nice kid. When at times I went over the rope, though they over the side, they didn't realize that it was chafing on rock and it was almost it was shredding itself.

So I started cowing over the edge and I was walking down and I'm you know, getting ready to do my first you know, like it will hop off of it. And I look up and I see a bunch of shredded rope because they didn't use any chafing gear on the rock edge. So it was like everybody's weight, you know, dragging back and forth. And I started to you know, like pin and I was like, oh, is that a good thing? And You're like no, come on back up.

I'm like, all right, I got another rope though, like oh goodie, good times.
