Episode description

Over the past 8 years as a photographer I've learned a lot of things and some I wish I had known earlier to help me in the beginning. I have learned so much from YouTube, industry friends and from having a keen interest in the photography field and I feel it is only fair that I share what I have learned. Here are the things I wish I had know earlier: Learn ISO, Aperture and Shutterspeed. Use what you have around you, whether it's a phone or an object like a lamp. Shoot manual mode. Learn composition. Use the sun as your light source, shoot at golden hour and invest in a diffuser. Know your equipment, you should aim to be able to operate it in the dark. Let go of the pop-up flash on your camera, use an external flash. Gear is not everything, google Luisa Dörr, a Brazilian photographer who photographed exceptional women using her smartphone. Shoot RAW, it gives you more flexibility when you edit your photos in Photoshoot or Lightroom. Learn videography and audio, it is an amazing skill to have on your side. I hope these are helpful tips that you will be able to use going forward.
