Episode description

Imagine a place where people with Dementia can live free in their own reality. Just as they are. Where skilled staff understands their needs and meets them right where they're at. After my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I imagined a place like this and now I found it, in the Netherlands. Hogeweyk is a dementia village in the Netherlands that serves people with dementia. It creates an environment where people can live with dementia and enjoy the last years of their life in a social setting, where they can call home. If only other countries would incorporate this model. Listen to this episode of Autumn is Here and know that there is hope for people and their families that are affected by dementia. #caregiver #aarp #dementia #dementiacaregiver #dementiadarling #mimacrawford
