Episode description

Ready for another episode? Righto. Have you noticed how listening activities in traditional language learning instruction, never really prepares you for "real world" interaction? Join Oriana and I as we discuss this on this week's episode. As we learned last week from Howard, discourse markers are an important part of our conversation. They help us to understand context, check and confirm information and change the course of conversation. They do a lot of "work" in conversations, but are often excluded as unimportant in language learning. We are here to explain why this is potentially an error in language learning, and how we can go about correcting this. We use another common Australian discourse marker to help us with this - righto. Learners of English may already encounter problems with right, and expressions with right, so we use this opportunity to explain this as well. Righto. Get to it! Let us know how you've got on with these topics.
