Episode description

This hour, we’re starting at the end: Death.

Knowledge of our mortality affects almost everything about us. And lately, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, death is on our phones, in the headlines, and in the air.

Today, you’ll hear from funeral director Howard K. Hill, on how he’s had to adapt his practices to be safe AND to serve during the Coronavirus. And you’ll hear from Alua Arthur, who is a Death Doula at Going With Grace. We recorded a conversation about her work back in December, and then reconnected in May to talk about how her work has changed in the middle of the Coronavirus.
