Episode description

Sometimes I'm asked to describe my sound in a few words. Trying to describe my sound is a task I don't enjoy doing and actually something, as a DJ, I hope I'm never able to do. If I *can* describe my sound, I take that as a sign that I've constrained myself or gotten too comfortable with what I'm doing. The moment I realize I'm artistically comfortable is the moment I start to get artistically uncomfortable. As of late, I've been starting to get a little too comfortable, so this mix is a response to that. This mix doesn't come completely out of left field - for the most part, I hold on to a sound I'm known for: melodic, deep. But I take a step out of the comfort zone for a chunk of the mix and explore "underwater," touching on the stripped, trippy, percussive side of house music. I even stepped out of my technical comfort zone for some time layering 3, and at one point, 4 tracks at the same time. As a whole, this mix transports itself in 3 likenesses: chugging on land, swimming underwater, and flying in the sky. A swan is one of the few animals that can do the same, so I present you, A Swan's Song. Hope you enjoy.
