Episode description

Over the next few months, the CRA’s Around the Rheum podcast will be exploring Canadian perspectives of COVID-19 and how it has affected different groups.

Description:

On May 6, 2020, The Lancet published a case series of 8 paediatric patients with a hyperinflammatory shock syndrome. Since then, similar cases have been documented throughout Europe, the United States, and now in Canada.

In this episode, Dr. Marie-Paule Morin guides us through the evolving literature around a new clinical entity: Paediatric inflammatory multi-system syndrome (PIMS). Dr. Morin works in Montreal, QC, a Canadian hotspot for COVID-19, and has first-hand experience working with children suspected of having PIMS.  Join our host, Dr. Daniel Ennis, as we unpack this subject within the context of the current pandemic.

Bios:
  • Dr. Marie-Paule Morin is a Paediatric Rheumatologist at St Justine University Hospital in Montreal.
  • Dr. Daniel Ennis is a Rheumatologist and Vasculitis Specialist at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC.
