Welcome to. Are you quizzing me? I'm very tired with my co-host, Aditya kashyap. This is a quizzing trivia podcast show, where we ask each other questions, and share what we know and learn with you, though, in a quizzing format, it's not competitive. The questions are simply a way of sharing, our love of trivia. So sit back, relax and join us as we explore the depths of

human knowledge. Here's the format, we ask each other questions alternatingly as many as time permits while giving as many Clues as needed to help each other get to The answer. Let's get quizzing. Another day, another episode, and this is a special one. But before we get to why it's special Aditya please relieve us of this Burning. Each that was left by your question. Last episode apart, from Prince, who else was left out from Rolling Stones list of the

greatest guitarists. So ever since our last episode I I did my research and I realize how great a guitarist Prince was, but he did not hold a candle to 1 Suraj. Gonna do you know who so much can I is beneath I don't think anybody knows who sora's, kanai's apart from, maybe his mother. Oh no, no no, I think everybody

here. Any any fan of great music would know this gentleman played a guitar in a fantastic performance shirtless where he was mic'd up and this was an electric guitar which is not connected to any amplifier. The the song was a cult classic called 00 Jana Jana. Yes, I just got an existing. You can stop now, Suraj karna, playing it, The guitar without any connection to an amplifier. Anywhere nearby is I think I think a better guitar is then prints. It would be my opinion.

My humble. Okay, that Rolling Stone. Made a massive for Papa You can get stoned on the streets of Bombay one day or maybe run over God knows. Okay. So episode 10 and we're trying something new. Today we have a guest who is going to grill us so intuitive. As grilling each other, we have somebody to make Tandoori out of us and to introduce Our Guest for today's episode, I invite I co-host mr.

Aditya kashyap. So this guy, the the most iconic memory I have of this particular person is he was a friend of mine in college, that's where I first met him and he walks into our College hangout, this Lounge that we used to have. And he walks in one day, carrying is fancy laptop and he goes hkv in the house and that is by far. My fanciest memory of, how do you Krishna my friend? Phone call is one of the smartest people.

I know a fantastic sitar player, somebody who was a genius at software programming language software, engineering and decided he wouldn't want the money and the fame associated with that. And instead went over to study some public policy to do this world, some good and is now pursuing that particular passion of his in Delhi and today he's joining us for this podcast. Thank you, h k. Welcome to the podcast. Thank you.

Thank you both for having me. And fortunately, I'm not joining in Delhi from H. KV H consulates, I lived somewhere else but that would have been I think a bit too good to miss out on and I regret my housing choices immediately. But yeah, I've been a big fan of the show. Especially of the opening segment. It's like I don't like my taste. Italy gets better at figuring the opening joke in every episode Good money that you're in the minority, that no II did send it to get some money

beforehand. To make sure he compliments her jokes, just making sure. So today's format is going to be a little different. Me and Nadia are going to get grilled by the one the only mr. Hari Krishna and we will cap off the end with one or two questions of our own because you know we can't leave somebody from our podcast without some wounds at You're hoping what we want? So sorry, come on, hit us. Okay, I'm gonna try to make sure that I do both. You guys look good.

And you look is I select with all the episodes. Sometimes, I've had enough for mentoring distant screaming in frustration, I hope it. Don't you think?

Let's let's see how it goes. So, the first question, In and I guess the health even for the questions as it's somewhat related to Delhi. And of course my moved to Delhi recently as well is this style of garden is said to be inspired by depictions of Paradise in the Quran and of course they find themselves fittingly in the final resting places of Many Kings and Emperors. What is the term that is used

for these styles of Gardens? And of course the bit vague but I can give you more head secure work. I guess what? It already. Is it Delhi. Delhi is important, but yes, the bog one. No, Okay, no. Okay, so we're talking about Gardens and this is deadly, right? So I'm asking for the name that's given. So we see them. Any specific examples of this time? They like it, it's a powerful thing. I'm looking for the archetype. So to speak of the this this particular kind of said to emulate.

Paranoia is Aditya any any Diaz. I'm because you said it's a garden where there were a lot of burials and and final resting places. I know Rajkot and there are similarly named places for at least the The Immortal Indian history figures. So is it hot by any chance, know a goddess. I think two steps that lead into the river, right? Because that's the term, isn't it? And obviously other things. Yeah, Warren has. Yeah, yeah, yeah, nope. So this is sorry. This is only specific to the

Mughal period. Okay. Without killing give it too much. I think the mughals are going to popularize it a lot. But the it's I mean, I don't know about. I'm going to get probably someone's going to come and tell if you know madnomads victim had enough. But I think it's probably their faith in the run. So for them to because it depiction comes from his love right? From the Quran.

So yeah. My country because I also know all the mausoleums in Delhi by their English name, which is like basically humayun's tomb and whatnot. I will be who my own comic Opera. Yeah. Did you want visit? These tombs is my question because I read. There's a particular feature of these tools that they have is like it's very descriptive name. It's not like, you know. Yeah, it's not just a mug, but rather Pleasant I'm looking for

something that's this. Obviously, the thing that I'm missing out is that Paradise described in a very specific way, right in his lab. So it has like, you know, of course, if it's a descriptive like worse, that happens, what? Yeah, because you said Paradise, I'm thinking maybe the root word could be janeth, but Channel, I can't hear anything which is Garden related to janeth any relation to Kashmir, any connection to Kashmir. For some reason that as there

are Level, there are examples. As of this style of gardens in Kashmir to, as I think, of course the mughals, they catch me. It was a playground of this art. Is that, right? So, yeah, these are really built a very famous one that's interested in Srinagar, and I am currently a bit stumped. So I would love a clue. Same here. Same here. So you met you'd said something in the beginning with it. You said this one? Where did the picketing? That's partly the answer, but not exactly.

What would you say in the very Beginning as a bad one, so Bob /. Yeah, yeah, it's a Garden State. So, there's a yes. So, but actually interesting that being bugged when a barber is Bob has to actually, and it's also style. It's also one of the examples of its but okay. So what it is, is that in Islam, specifically Paradise has a certain number of Gardens. And so that's the, you know. So so How many like, what is it?

Described it. So yeah, I did, I want 74-72 numb but I don't think that has the garden of pleasure you heard think so I have no clue what this is. So, hmm. Okay. Ivy or I'm I'm thinking, I'm trying to. I'm honestly just yeah, it's basically Char bad. So there are four carbons. So if you look at any layout and actually, this is interesting thing that everyone's getting a now cultural 60 for my students, a very good example of this.

And you notice the tube itself is literally in the center of these four years. Folk rock like a crossroad kind of thing. Yeah, so the most still is Sample of this, of course is not mine stuff. Which one is the? Most famous example of the Char

blog style. Like fighting the Taj Mahal has one drive if you are mistaken, but interestingly, if you look at the charge, doesn't seem to connect with the same architecture occupied because the for Gardens are in front of the package and not, that's not Gia and a bad idea the reasoning for that. Apparently there's an other Garden on the other side of the yamuna. And that is supposed to be a complimentary guarded, the Taj and also, Good Paradise has two rivers flowing through it.

The camera itself is supposed to be one of those rivers that symbolizes like a Reverend Parris. Oh, they went like all out like, you know, but I don't know what this is. Yeah. So, it is kind of lik envisioned as part of a larger complex, which is on the other side of the internal, but that's not why I think the because the core state is divided probably doesn't look as impressive now. But yeah, of course, that's Mel

itself is plenty of rest. Either of you would know this but the railway station in Lucknow is called the Char bagh railway station. Yeah, I don't know if that has any relation. I'm not sure exactly. Does it have any topiary of some kind of landscaping in front of it? I have no idea.

But then now that he said, I am beginning to question whether it is named after a similar thing as well because Char bagh and have heard this word growing up all my life because my grandparents used to live in like knows I always go by train. The Garden in front of it, which is right.

Yeah. When you were saying when you were saying number and bog, I would like art wall no bug and it didn't occur to me that I should start lower but started lower ever have it. I'm not sure if the other questions are going to be this is deliberately vague, right? So I don't know because I don't know. This is a this is a great strategy, the greatest passions is a great, this is a great question.

The thing is what I'm really kind of peeved about is this was part of another question that I Saw at a recent quiz but it was only tangentially related news related to the Taj Mahal. And I remember this being part of the picture and then suddenly when you said Char bagh, I was like, oh my God idiot. Okay, hit us with an expression. Okay.

So this phrase was originally used in a very literal sense by the Roman historian in history with big coat and Statesman Pliny, the Elder who wrote Cicero had recorded the poem of Homer called. The Iliad written on parchment was enclosed within blank, you know, now, this phrase is fittingly used to denote something that is brief and to the point. Now, this also another related word, which is used in journalism to describe a paragraph in which the main points of the article are

summarized. So this the same, Word is basically used in these two context. So looking for the phrase actually you'll get to get the phrase. You're most likely going to get the second part. But yeah, something to do with Percy, the size of the C could be fitted. This, which seems very like I've been I'm like laughing at wondering how because they everyday lives is famously known for being one of the most verbose Square driver. But yes. Huh, anything with any of it to

the point or something? Yeah yeah so this is a phrase that's used to denote something that is brief and to the point, okay? And the hope is that the poem of Homer called. The Iliad written on parchment was enclosed within the plant and what is the second part of it. You said the, the part of this same phrase, Is of length itself to this other word that is used daily in journalism. From what I am from what I have read to describe a paragraph in which the main points of the

article as summarized. So there is a specific term for the paragraph in, which all the main points of the article are summarized. So it's called a particular something paragraph and short for something. If you get the good stuff - like a very, very kind of talent trick you add another 2. Either of you ever heard of the kitchen and not an ad, by the way. I just like, you know, like kind of lame magazine.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So they have one of the newsletters as a term, has the name of this. So if you haven't read it and you know, so leave it to you that even obscure clue. English. So, the court have given you as translated in English, right? So the the blank is literally within brackets, one word and the phrase is basically to do with that blank. So so maybe Focus forget about all the the fluff around it just focus on what is a phrase? That means something that is

brief. And to the point blank is one English word, right? I mean it's noun, right? Rather I dislike of is not a verb, a copy, 66 a phrase, right? So it's an idiomatic phrase so it's what the lady magic phrase for something that's brief and to the point, okay? Maybe like so in context, right? So like I said of Pliny, the Elder used this word in a very literal sense. So he said literally that The Iliad could be fit with Thin something, right?

And that something is like Soso basically, but obviously that something is a very small thing, which is why, you know, it became meant to be, you know, it became used as something to mean brief and to the point, but when you are saying, could be enclosed, within something whilst using it in a very literal sense that it could be enclosed within this object, or like this object is the kind of the wrong word, but like a like between this, this, this this descriptive who are the songs I

should be. He familiar, is it anything to do with seed? Already you're there. But like, I mean, I know obviously like, you know, it takes so, I don't know. It's a nutshell, it's a nutshell. Yeah, you know, what is that summarizing paragraph? Have you heard that term before it does that make sense? Now see, nutshell paragraph or not, It's quite a bit.

Yeah, I remember someone had told that he had when he had like very interesting piece a but India to because I had never been, but you had like some crazy stuff to say about like the people and like the piece in India. The trick that. Yeah. I read something about crocodiles and Pirates and rivers and something that comes up parts of Bangalore South, India have described if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, I remember something else. Somebody had put it through that in a quiz. Once in Mangalore.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I think, I think one of the things that he was very concerned about was apparently, because Roman trait would agree complications of trade in Flowood, be into India. So, even during the probably the earliest proper end of, you know, a splendid we're in Rome, Italy script available for Rome to India and giving all the riches to Indians at that point. But yeah, that's easy. That's the origin of in a nutshell, in a nutshell.

That's a brilliant question, whether So, this next session is not the Wrecking, Ball. Z question, I can mix it up. Have like a few lined up like everyone's questions lined up, but I will move on to something else.

But this was another one. So this term, like many others, if I may say so, myself, evolved from Agriculture and particularly, from this agricultural practice, where evil seeds with thrown over a large area in an attempt to basically not get them to not compete with each other and hope that some of them would Sprout it. So what is this? This or. Yeah, not phrases. That particular term came from this context. Seeds being thrown in a large area. Is this term?

Now, in general, English used to mean, or what does it mean in general educational. Okay, that that, if I say that it's giving away the answer, basically, it's used in use in a very similar sense, right? So it's seeds are being spread in a large area. It's similar. Something similar happens in a large area. And so this term is used for that but the origin is comes from literally and I mean it's a very literal term that way once you know the term you Blackhawks.

The meaning is right there. But yet, I see you do not fall for your trap just tries to your tricks are submitting descriptive. Like I said, so think of what I mean, his wife who widespread widespread seems to be got so, so think of other words a to? I mean I use thrown in a very can imagine, that Throne is not a very nice word, use this context it because people have thought there's always a nicer term that people use, but if I use that word you'll know the

answer. So I'm deliberately use the word thrown in that sentence. So so you're really think of think of widespread so but that's not exactly descriptive right? Like you know in the same sets and itself it's used in a very The tangential but very, very familiar called similar similar sounding constant context. Yeah. And of course we all know this world. Yeah. It's a single word. It's not a phrase now. It's a single word. Yeah I'm a single one single

word. Yeah I can only think of synonyms like ubiquitous sort of an extensive or not. There will be a little too obscured. So, since of seeds, red thrown over a large area now, something else is done over a large area and this word means something else being done over a large area. Yeah, true. In the sense in a large area, is it got everything to do with manure being spread over large areas? Well, started a big deal.

Okay, obviously. Okay. The term as we use it now became super popular after like, the late like laity 90-something was And after that, this comes with became that popular basically, you know? So hmm. Whatever, chili disable show, till then it is probably a lot harder to do this thing, particularly. But after that, it just became

very easy to do that. And then since then which has been doing more of this particular word everywhere, basically, you know, 1890s when you think it over the telephone, No, telephone no slightly earlier, yeah, something against. Yeah. Yeah, okay, yeah. Second is, this word is in. We generally know it, as part of the part of the term for this

organization. Let's say that's been in the news recently, in India, particularly, and also like, you know, yeah, it's associated with the other this with this card. So like this organization that How did I say when I tell you what you've invented in the 1880s, 1890s radios in method after radius invented. This word is stick just broadcast. Yes, yeah. Is so obvious. I'm gonna I'm stealing this

question by the way. Yeah, that's just come from agricultural practices that have been reduced in English means that the gallic. I mean, there's a couple of podcasts that I listen to vodka and that doesn't come from Adam.

Think it comes from the same agricultural trade but like any policy that much like a few common things you get is like, animal husbandry and agriculture has a lot to do with, like, a lot of the places we use probably cos waited for the longest offense, but yeah, it's wonderful. Isn't it that I was a cracker of a question? That was a cracker of a question broadcast question with the answer when you hear it. So obvious that, yes, no, I guarantee there was somebody there.

Somebody listening to this right now, who was screaming at it saying broadcast you idiots, you're literally doing that. And I should have moved to Something in the animal kingdom now because I'm going to skip over. I have like five more. Anybody better than Let's see we can come to it. So basilisk lizards are a group of lizards which are endemic to in those southern Mexico, Central America and South America.

Now they have large high heat with scaly fringes on the sides of the third, fourth, and fifth toes. So these are normally compressed against the doors. No. And This lizard walks on land, but if it senses danger, you know, it uses it opens up these fringes and and you know, increases the surface area of the foot. And it allows that that allows it to perform one of its most iconic traits. So and also gives it a very popular nickname.

So what do they do, which they don't normally do on land, but if it senses danger, it does this basically it opens up its doors wide and uses the fringes to do. I think that it probably the most animals normally can do. It's not surfing. You don't tell me cancer of it is to do with water so that it is correct. But if that's something that's very and and it gives it a Super Bowl and eat a piece here is it is, it is going to Jesus Lizard or something cause it runs on water.

It is called a suspension set. No, I think I've seen like a clip of this happening. Like a lizard running on water, so I thought of nice. Nice. That's good question. No. But also like, I didn't know that like a basilisk was used in like, apart from the outset of Harry Potter, but yeah, that was like a random dial for this. Where I have no idea why they call this, the best list. It looks. So non setting the capacitor running or whatever, it's just

objectively, sounds cool. I think I fell asleep. A lot of lizards is gross but this one just looks cool legal. Anyone? What they do why they call it like a very frightening, but they're okay on to the next one. Yeah, next one. Okay, so let's move to Flags. So the flag of this country is a very simple by color flag with two horizontal bands. Okay? And of course, is a ratio to it and all that, which are not

particularly relevant. So this is a very memorable incident associated with this life. So during the The it's this country's War of Independence against is called nice herbs. A group of youths remote, the flag of their colonizing country. Okay and then from from it which has features hoisted atop this hotel in I think in in a pretty important city in that country.

So what there is it? Not the flag down the door off a strip of blue that was in the flag and then they re hoisted it as this country's plaid which country's flag a metal cable. So my instinct is immediately to go to French colony. And I'm thinking it has to be if the Devourer of the blue that it is the White and the red, okay? But I hide under is what Poland know is which have the other one that I know is Indonesia but What is that? Individual would be the Dutch,

right? Yeah, that sort of thing is not a French Colony then now babe we decided. It's a French Colony. He never said it was a French Colony. That is true. Wait, what's a Dutch flag? The Dutch Flags. Also got red blue and white, right? I have no idea. I do not want the dust flies. Okay, but if he's smiling, he's smiling. I'm seeing an evil smile on his face. I think we are close and he just purposely keeping quiet. Okay, so we can confirm it is the Dutch flag.

It is the best plan is it in Malaysia as it is and Associated but that's not how they like the airport. It comes from like the one of the reasons but yeah but basically they just saw that the that's why I had red white and blue. And so they think that's like to rock the blue and Latino voice which is the red and white, you know. And it was yeah, that was a time when there are obviously not pleased with Indonesia's. Like the floor during the war ability again.

I devoted the completely wrong way because I will difference without we've done this before on the podcast that we thought of something intent. Completely the other way around outside French flag has vertical stripes. Not Horticultural cannot live, take it. So yeah. So I think I could defend, you can turn the flag on its side. That's what I thought. This is stirred up. So, I think I'm going to go back to some questions. I'm going to go for this one.

Okay, so this term, the term X derives its name from an ancient Greek city which used to serve as a Transit point and a Transit van trait or Britain Europe and Asia. Now, the meaning of X has changed and it's generally used to describe something that's excessively complicated and typically involves a lot of administrative. So what is this right? Yeah, bison, time again, I've done this before. And again, I'm not getting paid

by them. Please listen to the Empire podcast is an entire episode dedicated to this. Oh yeah, I don't know what what is vibrant and because I know you guys call it trickles into this is the I'm that the crypto Jenny aims to solve or at least like blocking all these protocols in place. Called, the Byzantine generals problem is this column of like coordination between parties that can't really communicate with each other by something

ourselves. Yeah. I'm sure someone will issue an addendum but yeah the thing is the thing is the terms actually kind of I wouldn't say offensive it's not completely accurate because the Byzantine Empire lasted for a good like a few centuries and if what Actually what people say is true, or what people think was true that, you know, there was so much red tape and, you know, bureaucracy and Corruption. No, Kingdom would have survived that long they survived for a good like, I think more than

half a millennium, so it's a misnomer, but as, and people still use that term recently during the elections of the UK elections. It was bandied about quite a bit, of course, of course, of course. Okay, this is let's see. This is probably a Okay. Okay, I'm going to add spoil too much so this company's upon domestic product is widely used as a lubricant rust preventative, penetrant and moisture is Blazer.

The name is WD-40 white. You know, this fact that I'm sorry I just couldn't help myself. I don't know. I don't know. Several times to formulate, such a product. So it's basically Italy what a displacement, the 40th attempt. So, yeah, it's called abilities - I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have done that. I just it just horrible etiquette to jump in the middle of a question. The very idea because it's like that when you trivialize like this, next one is a little harder.

So this company's name is commonly assumed to translate to leave luck to heaven or even to leave once fortune in the hands of Fate. But these are not history. Develop, it's one of those, you know, food etymology things where like you know like people like to use this as the meaning, but it's Actually no one's verified, that that's actually what it means, okay? Likely explanation is that it means the company that's allowed to make a particular kind of

playing cards. Which company to form playing cards. I know I know playing cards is Nintendo. Yeah, so because I know that the original Nintendo play catcher, one legal, a lot of gambling with illegal in that time in Japan and also like the other founder, they start opening hanafuda cards, that's the

thing. And the panda term selected, the reason these things happen in Japanese and I guess other like in or Chinese in these languages, because Was Nintendo's written with I think country, right, which is Chinese characters and so there's a lot of different meanings for the words. And so, one possible meaning is literally that it's something that falls from heaven participating in and tell. And all of these words also be

dead. But another way of looking at it is the fancy like if you look at the characters that it translates to all like the characters similar to catch cup of flour and they sell hanafuda cards, which is the kind of card floral pattern for this and so yeah so badly like the other the more acceptable more Thing is that it's just a house that made cards and so let's meet them. Nice, nice.

That's wonderful. Okay, so I think it's time for us to start winding up, which means that there's two questions left for today's episode 1. From, you are the Thea and I will go for the second one. So okay. Yeah, I feel like H here, set the bar really high, really high. I mean, like today. Is today, the level has gone up to professional quizzes.

Level, you know. Yeah, if we end up not recording a single more episode after this, it's your fault that she's we can live up here but now let's try. Let's try doing a piece of Justice which is question. So I'm going to do one. So everybody is familiar with mnemonics. We know what mnemonics are and for those of you not familiar demonic is basically a device that is used to make easy. The learning more complicated

things. So one of the most famous examples is my very excited mother just served us nine on. It should be like the mnemonic for remembering the order of the planets in the solar system. Now, I want to know what this mnemonic is for Superman. Helps everyone Superman helps everyone. Wow, Superman helps everyone. I said. Yeah. Wait, but eight helps 585. And everyone is 9, right? 08 again. Yeah. Yeah, 858 858 but is 858. Okay, let me let me try that again. Let me see that again.

And maybe my saying it in the specific we might help you guys. Okay. Super man helps every one. Yeah so Superman 53 helps again 535 535, three-way tie, three sites will do something with that for super. And I think I think you guys are going skating, you're going in the slide, your own protection, so it has nothing to do with the number of letters. Okay, F and e h so okay. Them had e0. Wait what? It's not too late SMH already decimated a super look forward

for. So this data for proteins involved in the superb and helps everyone I would say five no Superman helps every one. Think think geography. Think geography. Should I get more specific? Ya Tink Tink, North American geography or Superior the Lakes Superior Michigan your own okay the Great Lakes series of largest interconnected freshwater lakes in North America and the in order they are so Sinatra's five-year Lake Michigan. Order of west to east west to

east. Yeah. Yeah. That is so Superior. Michigan her on Erie and Ontario, that Superman has everyone I expected. That's my question. I mean, really, it's, it's my turn. So, it's my question. The last question for today's episode, and here goes in chronological. People Order. Okay, in chronological order, the first one was Sylvester, also known as Sir debt.

Lord Naughton was the last. In between there were many others including Tom Taylor lady Jean, Earl Spencer, Leonardo da Vinci lady Blount, Eleonora Jackson Paganini and the Messiah though. Unnamed one also appears in the Sherlock Holmes series. What am I talking about? Let me just specify. I'm talking about the Sherlock Holmes, novels not the TV series, the novels by Arthur Conan Doyle. It doesn't have anything to do with like I'm thinking some secret society leader or

something. When we read and run away, is there something you would not be like, that's a great guess because when I asked this question, another quiz. The first question that came was, the first answer that came was, are these, you know? Chancellors of The Priory of Sion thinking. Yeah but then I would have also included Newton in that list okay what are you resisting as well as bait business just to Sylvester with sir Sylvester is it was the first and the next is silver, silver as an RV

Sylvester, okay? And the last was the last was not Naughton, and this da Vinci. Hindi. Is it okay? Ladies shorts DaVinci's. They're all Spencer's. The lady. Blount is there. Lenora Jackson's there, Tom Taylor and the Messiah. Is this a like something real or fictional? This is real. This is real again. Do the Fabergé eggs have names? No, they don't. But that's a very good guess. You'll realize how good a guess that was. When I tell you the answer, open HK, finally gets to the answer.

Is it something Roots stuff that was like, is it something to the moon, like, craters on the moon? Very, Charles are not all over again, create guess. But yeah, but He doesn't want to go because it is an exhaustive list for it. Has a person, the last. Yeah. It's true. As your first and the last year. So some, you're also sharing the last clue.
