1. What things stuck out to you from this text? Is there anything in this text that challenges you?

2. In our difficult moments the gospel trains us to question and doubt our heart first. Take some time and think about the times and circumstances when you experience anger, fear, worry, or depression. Consider the variables in those moments and ask yourself if there is something you are idolizing that is being thwarted or if there is a lie that you are believing in that moment. This is a great activity to do with your spouse or missional community.

3. What are the issues that seem to be recycled over and over in your life? How could the truth of the gospel and the truth about your heart help you to see the part you are playing in this recurrence?

4. How would the gospel help you to practice a “quiet” (James 1:19-20) life? How could this be put into practice in your daily relationships?…the relationships in your life that may be strained?
