Episode description

This week our guest is Robert Hornung, the founding President and CEO of the Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA). The industry group is the voice for wind energy, solar energy and energy storage solutions in Canada.  Recently CanREA released  "Powering Canada's Journey to Net-Zero: CanREA's 2050 Vision" which sets an aspiration for Canada’s wind and solar capacity to increase 10-fold by 2050.

Here are some of the questions Peter and Jackie asked Robert:  What are the barriers to achieving CanREA's vision for wind, solar and energy storage growth in Canada? Do you expect the Liberal government will move forward on plans for a net-zero electrical grid by 2035?  Are Canadians accepting of new solar and wind projects in their communities? Do you think a federal grid counsel could advance the East-West grid in Canada?
