In this episode, a quick look at the Healthy Minds Program app. Welcome to the Anxiety Road Podcast. This is the involuntary journey, finding treatment options and resources for people that have anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias too. This podcast is treatment agnostic. My name is Gena Haskett. Welcome back, or welcome if this is your first time. In today's episode, I wanna talk a little bit about the podcast and then go into a quick look at the Healthy Minds Program app.
And what it can do to help you chill out. So in regards to the podcast, I'm gonna be trying some new experiments. I'm gonna do some recordings of very short episodes, either, looking at different things that can help, but they'll be very short. It's almost like, here it is, this is what it can do for you and here's where you can find it. And then I'll also do longer episodes where I can go in and do a deep dive.
Sometimes I run out of time or too many things are occurring at the same time, and I have to make choices about what I can pay attention to. And going biweekly has really helped. I wanna try some experiments about, can I do a very short episode for those people who wanna know one specific thing and deep dives for those folks who wanna know more. So I'm gonna be with that. I've also changed the look at the of the blog website thingy. I've got a new template up. It seems to be working fine.
Except that there's some parts that don't work so well. So they're little minor things like Google Plus has not existed for years, but I can't get rid of the thing that shows Google Plus, so I still have some tweaking to do and some refinements to do, but it's coming along. My major victory was to change how a link looks from black to the standard blue color because you weren't able to see where the link was in the original, template.
So I'm still learning and still getting this thing up and running, and hopefully it'll make easier for folks to find things and it looks acceptable. Anything else? I still don't do ads. I do not do affiliate deals and I do not do interviews. And this has become relevant because I still get requests for interviews and I've never done one and the gunking up my email, so there's that. Oh, and there's one more thing.
Apple in their wisdom, has decided to open up the ability to access what used to be called iTunes, apple podcasting, portal. And it's now online. It's a web-based portal. If you have an Android device, you can go to, I believe it's podcast.apple.com and then you're gonna be able to see all of the podcasts that are listed in the Apple directory. So it'll make it a little easier for some of you to access the show.
When you access it through the web portal, you do not have to log in or, do anything like that. You can if you want to, but you don't have to. Yeah, I think that's it. So let me talk a little bit about this app. So mindfulness, for those of you who. are new to the concept is an intentional practice of grounding yourself in the moment. So you're not future doom casting. You're not past doom casting. You are staying in the moment and not being rocked by some of your symptoms.
It can help you do that. Meditation is the method that you use to help you get into a mindful space. And some of the tools include breathing movement or specific mental practice to create healthy pathways and move out of the muck. If you're new here to the podcast, what happens here is that we look at the medical behavioral health meditation, relaxations, and X equals the unknown resources for those of us that have an anxiety condition or a mental health condition.
The Healthy Minds Programming Program app, and what the app purports to do is that it will help you with a meditation practice. It'll start you slow and then ramp you up to speed. there is also audio education about the brain and understanding the mind. It helps you to track your wellness level and to reduce your anxiety levels. And again, this is a free app. There's no subscription. It is from a nonprofit organization.
They would not mind if you made a donation to them, but there is no subscription or any other kind of financial hanky panky that's going on. The app is available on Android and iOS devices, and I'll have those links on the anxiety road blog website thingy. I don't know what to call that thing. So let's talk about resources. If you want to understand what meditation and mindfulness is, there is the US National Center for Complimentary and Integrative Medicine.
The article, it's entitled, meditation and Mindfulness, what You Need to Know, and then to Access the Healthy Minds Programming, app. You can find that at the Google or the Apple Play stores. I hope you're having a great day and I will catch you next time on the Anxiety Road. You can visit Anxiety Road podcast dot podcast for links and other information resources.
