That was like, by the grace of God, Like Jacole is my favorite one of my favorite human beings, aren't And he's really like the nicest person in real life, and like he put out this nice long message, like it was like a nice caption, and I read that somebody was like if more men protected women, like made women feel protected in a studio setting like that, it would be such a more better like a better place

for artists. And and I never really thought about it like that, but I've never felt so comfortable, like like it was no weird vibes. He was just super cool, like you know what I'm saying, and we need that, like women going to the studio and not to feel like everybody says hello to you, like you know when you when you go to a studio and all the guys will say what's up to the guys and not the girl, And like the time it was nothing like that,

like just all pure vibes. And like you think about what Lotto says she went through and people were mad at her for talking about it but not saying the person's name, which I don't think she made it up, like she went through where she went through. And I'm sure a lot of women can say that they've experienced, you know, feeling like if I don't do this, then I can't get this, and I don't even want to put myself because sometimes you're like I don't even want

to put myself in that position. Yeah, Like sometimes you don't even or you make people go through like it stops you from creating relationships and building friendships because you'll make people go through the man management channels instead of like you know, just vibing with them because you never know what type of time but that was never the vibe with with with Cole like close as a solid person.

I'm excited for my album, like I'm singing on my album. I'm rapping on my album. There's R and B on my album. There's like regg throwing on

my album. My album to us girl not even for it, like how she was really had been doing a out of stuff, you know, and um with Latin music, yeah, Jay Batman, Blue Leg and then you can't And I feel like people don't even know that, like in the hip hop community that I know that my first song was the Latin song, so like my first Latin Grammys and stuff. So that's why I'm like, I gotta revisit

that on my album. I gotta revisit everything that people look like know me for in a way, you know, part one, wrap it all together, it stuff because people know you from different things. Like it's like I hate hearing a song that has a story and you can't really grasp the story. Every song on this album the second you turn it on, you know exactly what's going on. You know exactly what your body is supposed to do,

and you just act accordingly. That's like you're really good at telling the story from Okay, Well, then tell us about what it all or nothing? I haven't heard that song want it all or nothing? Yes? That is so I get a lot of I get a lot of song lyrics from my sister because we sidn't have conversations about the dudes that she'd be dealing with and just what should be going through. So one and all or nothing,

there's no exception. She's basically a song about this dude that put He was putting forth a lot of pressure to get with her, but then all of a sudden it just kind of fell off, and she told him, listen, you want all of this or you don't want none of this? And I was like, take her to leave it. I wanted. I wrote the record, and yeah, that's how that came down. You think ultimatum to work? Um? I think ultimatums work the way that bug spray works. It depends on the bug. Some of them might die, some

of them, you know what I mean? How have things changed now that, like you went through a rough period in your relationship, but then got back. I think it's better than ever now. Yes, yes, a million times we talked now like we couldn't talk, like there was a point in time where it's like, all right, I'm feeling something,

but if I say something that's gonna start argument. But you know, for the most part, I'm in one of them type of situations where like it's not like a regular artist, like we signed to a major labor and they ain't really get

no money. Like I'm in a in the pin the situation where like I make a lot of money off of music, so I ain't really gotta know, just do too much stuff but waste my time because I'm really focused on music, you know what. So I remember when Empire first started, right, and the way that it's grown into what it is. I feel like you were ahead of the curve. But everything that's going on now, can you talk a little bit about that before we get into your sex life. I mean to be honest, you know, I'm just a product of

my environment. So being that I'm from San Francisco just put me in the perfect place in time, cross section of technology and culture to be able to build a company that was a little ahead of his time. So for anybody to ask, but like up and coming artists and they're like, how can I get gods these attention? What's the best way to do that? I mean, I have an amazing team that's always out there every single day looking for new talent, um just casing point like recently.

This is not maybe something most executives in my position would do, but I read my d m s and um I've signed artists out of my d M. S uh. I recently signed an artist about six months ago. Seven months ago named baby Tron. He's now freshman XXL all of the Rolling Stone to YouTube in and I slid in his DM. I've seen a freestyle on ces. I thought he was dope. I slid in his DM. I said, you're dope. Are you signed? He said no, I said, tapped me in with your manager, and three days later

we had a deal done. And I love Detroit artists. Yeah, I know you got an affinity for the city too, but yeah, I love I love Detroit, the umbo, the vibe, it's unapologetically Detroit. Alright, well, guysy, now, I know you normally don't do stuff like this. Okay, wearing blue someone look extra red. So, guys, we need you to pick a question out of the bowl. What makes it different from a traditional label. I think it's the

progressive nature of the people who work there. Um, there's a couple of things that are different about us. A most of our deals are partnership deals, not not what are called royalty based deals. So all of our artists are primarily deals. Um, there's a level of continuity to our company that's not found at other companies, and that's because I'm the owner and the operator of the company, so I've been there from the very beginning. Most of

my staff has been with me for years. So there's like a chemistry and a synergy that you don't find out a lot of other companies, where you might do a deal in three months in your product manager changes, your A and R changes, the CEO changes, and then you just signed up for something that doesn't even exist anymore, right, and you just got the rug pull from under you. So the one thing about us that I think is really special is our continuity and being in San Francisco.

What kind of role this technology play. It definitely plays a role. I mean again, that's just the way my brain is wired as a person. I'd work Silicon Valley days when I was like eighteen ninety years old, and then that night I was in the studio. So fast forward and blast off into the future. We're the company that's one of the first company paying royalties in crypto UM. We're minting our own n f T s uh. We're doing a lot of Web three initiatives. I just signed

an artist last year that's a big metaverse artist. He's selling out shows in the metaverse. He did a hundred million streams and like the last twelve months. Um so, you know, just trying to be on the cusp of everything that's headed into the future, trying to well, guys, thank you so much forcing with us. they settled down over time and got married. And there's some artists that still even in my age and older, you know, single and live the player lifestyle.
