What up? What up, y'all? This is John the Rance. This is anesthesia guidebook, and this is episode 108. A quick shout out to all of you who are headed out to the AANA conference this weekend, August 2nd through 4th, something like that, 20 24 out in San Diego. I hope that y'all have an incredible time, that you meet tons of new colleagues, see some old friends, and have fun getting your

learn on while you're out there. I was talking to one of the SRNAs from the University of New England this morning in clinical, and she was getting psyched for the conference this weekend. AA and A Annual Congress is one of those times where you can kinda lift your head up from the daily grind and look around and see thousands of other c RNAs and sRNAs from all around the nation who are out there doing their thing in anesthesia. It's such an inspiring time. It's incredible. You

got curated talks. You got people. The exhibit hall is on fire. You got all kinds of people out there doing all kinds of stuff. It's pretty fun. So while I will not be there repping anesthesia guidebook, my clinical team from Maine Medical Center will be, so they'll be out there talking about Maine Health, but first, why am I not putting up a booth and talking about anesthesia guidebook at the annual congress? Well, I think it comes down to I'm not

really trying to sell you anything. I'm not trying to, you know, get you to sign up or enroll or pay me money or whatever it might be through through setting up a booth. So anesthesia guide book is still anchored in the concept of free open access medical education, and there's no subscription fee. I'm not trying to make money off of CE credits.

There's a 100 other ways out there for you to make class a credit through other companies, and, you know, that's what they do, and it's just not something that's become a professional focus of mine at this point. But it does bring up the reminder that any anesthesia podcast that you listen to will qualify for free class b credit in the CPC program. So class b credit is stuff that you do not have to get preapproval for. It's free.

You gotta get a bunch of credits each, you know, year in class b credits, and you can definitely do that through listening to anesthesia podcast. If you're a CRNA, all you have to do is log on to the AANA website, and you can self report those credits, and you'll rack up class b in no time. So, I actually did a whole podcast on that process, how to get class b credits through listening to podcasts. That's way back in episode number 9 of Anesthesia Guidebook. So check that out if

you wanna learn more about that. And so while I'm not gonna be out there, you can definitely stop by and meet my good friends and colleagues from Maine Medical Center in the exhibition hall. So we've got April Burgoyne, Jill Guzzardo, and Daniel Beaumont will be there staffing the Maine Health booth to tell you all about the career opportunities

within Maine Health. So we've got everything from level 1 trauma center work with my team at Maine Medical Center where I get to serve as chief CRNA, to a full independent practice location in Conway, New Hampshire, to several smaller town medical centers throughout Maine, including Penn Bay Medical Center in Rockland, where Jill is actually the chief CRNA. So April Burgoyne is gonna be out there this weekend. Doctor April Burgoyne is one of our CRNA supervisors at Maine Med.

She has also been on the show before. We sat down and talked about OR fires back in episode 93. It was kind of a hot topic. It was lit. You should go check that out at some point. And then I actually also I just recorded another episode with April recently that I'm editing right now. So her and our CRNA manager, one of our other leadership team members, Alison Kent, we sat down and we talked about how we do interviews as a leadership team at Maine Medical Center.

That show is really targeted towards other practice managers out there, but it's also obviously probably valuable to s r n a's as it gives you a behind the scenes look at how we plan team interviews for people who are applying to be on our team. So April's gonna be out at a n a congress this weekend. You can also meet Danielle Beaumont. She is our sRNA clinical coordinator.

She's amazing in that role. She supports sRNAs from the University of New England and Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia. Danielle also just helped us establish clinical affiliations with Boston College and Northeastern University this last year, so we're pumped to start welcoming those primary trainees from BC and NU in 2025. And then last but not least, out in San Diego this weekend is Jill Guzzardo. So as I just mentioned, she is the chief CRNA up at Penn Bay Medical Center in Rockland.

She's also one of our per diem CRNAs at Maine Medical Center. If you're if you're looking for a small town Coastal Maine Community Hospital to practice at, Jill is definitely your girl. Penn Bay is literally on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. You've got close-up water views right out the windows from work. It's amazing.

I mean, you can also see the ocean from the top floors of Maine Medical Center in Portland, but at Penn Bay, you can probably see what the lobstermen are having for breakfast as they motor on by in the morning. I mean, it's like it's right there. It's right on the water. So, all three of these CRNAs, April, Danielle, and Jill, they're all baller clinicians. I would let any of them take care of me or my family, and I just love working alongside them in

the operating room. They're also incredible CRNA leaders with a deep passion for helping SRNAs and CRNAs thrive in their practices, and they're generally just inspiring, friendly humans. They're kind, generous, optimistic people, folk who you kinda wanna hang out with when you're at a AA conference. So if you're headed to AAA and a this weekend, definitely do yourself a favor even if you're not looking to move to Maine. Right? Like, if you're not if you're not looking to

move to Maine, that's totally fine. Do yourself a favor and still go by and meet these people. April, Danielle, and Jill will be pumped to meet you. And that's it. Just wanted to give a quick primer for those who are headed out to a a and a this weekend. I hope it's amazing. Go get your learn on, meet some new friends, and stop by the main health booth, and tell my friends that I said hello. And with that, I'll see you next time.

What up y'all? I wanted to drop a reminder that if you're a CRNA looking for a great team to invest yourself in your career in, check us out at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. While the clinical opportunities would challenge you and the location is one of the best, our people and sense of community are truly what set us apart. Reach out if you want to learn more.
