Then the devotional contact today. Today’ s Bible reading is Isaiah, chapter six. In the year that King Usias died I saw the Lord sitting on a high and sublime throne and his skirts filled the temple. Above him were seraphim. They each had six wings, with two covering their faces, with two covering their feet, and with two flying, and with one voice to

the other saying Holy Holy, Holy Lord of Armies. The whole earth is filled with its glory and the quicials of the gates trembled with the voice of the one crying and the house was filled with smoke. Then I said woe unto me that I am dead, because I am an unclean man of lips, and dwell in the midst of a people that hath unclean lips. My eyes have seen the king, the LORD of hosts, and the bowls, one of the seraphim, having in his hand a burning coal taken from the

altar with the tongs, and touching with it upon my mouth. And he said, Behold, this touched thy lips, and thy guilt is taken away, and thy sin is cleansed. Then I heard the voice of the Lord

saying who I will send and who will come after us. Then I answered, and sent me, and said, Go, and say to this people, Hear ye, and understand not; see ye indeed, but do not fatten the heart of this people, and make their ears heavy, and their eyes blind, lest they see with their eyes, nor hear with their ears, nor understand their hearts, nor be converted, and there be healing for

them. And I said until when, my lord, and he answered, till the cities be desolate, and without inhabitant, and there be no man in the houses, and the land be a wilderness, until the LORD hath driven men far away, and multiplied the forsaken places in the midst of the land. And if I still have a tenth of it, it will be destroyed again. But like oak and oak that when cut, there is still the trunk, so will the trunk. The seed is Holy. Every Sunday.

An endless crowd of people gather in churches to worship God, but for many of them, going to church is just one more point on their Dependent List an activity that fulfills their spiritual duty. Although they may be moved by music and preaching. Soon they return to a life in which God seems distant and the pleasures of the world begin to look more attractive. Isaiah’ s time, apparently, was not so different from ours Let us listen to God

’ s judgment. This people praise me with their mouths and honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Their worship is not bad than a command taught by men. What is the solution when God’ s people do not give it due importance? Isaiah' s encounter with the Lord in today' s reading is a good example. When he saw the holiness of God, Isaiah was filled with terror and a deep awareness of his own sin in the midst of anguish he cried out. Woe to me that

I am dead after being cleansed from his sin. His only desire was to serve the Lord as his prophet and he said eMe here send me. Although it is unlikely that we will experience a vision like this. Every time we open the word of God, we have the opportunity to see the king, the Lord of Armies, as Isaiah did. What is even more surprising is that this holy and majestic God invites us to relate to him through his son, Jesus Christ. If your spiritual life has become too mechanical, it is

time for you to focus your time with God in a different way. Ask him to give you a heart, to be open to a true encounter with him and wait patiently for his help
