The story behind the tipnos, the story of the anthem. When you are weary and downcast, When you are weary and downcast, distressed by joy run away tell Christ. Mr Edmond Simon Lawrence was born on July 13, 1850, in North Lawrence, Ohio, into a family of Russian immigrants. Edmund attended several universities and theology seminars and was pastor of a Protestant congregation. He published more than fifty books of music for solo choirs, male and female,
as well as music for organ, scores and cantatas. He was also the founder of two monthly English choir magazines, Quare Heatld and Quare Leader, and was editor of Kirgen Core' s German choir magazine. He founded his own publishing company, which became one of the largest and most influential in America. All his musical work was devoted to gospel music. Lorence wrote the hymn when he was rested and down in one thousand eight hundred seventy- six in German.
Four years later it was translated into English and from this language into Spanish. This is probably the most repetitive hymn in the Christian repertoire and has been sung by millions of people around the world, carrying the message that we should all trust Christ
