¶ Intro / Opening
Oh my gosh, y'all, I am not believing this. I recorded, like 12 minutes of my remarkables. And for some reason, it only ended up recording two minutes, the first two minutes. I don't know what happened to the other 10 minutes I, you know, went to upload it to my buzzsprout. And then when I was doing the chapter markers is when I realized, oh, it only caught two minutes of it. It's not buzzsprout It's my voice recorder on my phone. I don't
know, there's a glitch in it. I did some research, I tried to look up Apple, and there wasn't a lot of answers. So I'm going to try this again.
Good morning. Welcome. I'm your host, Carol. And this is the Carol remarques podcast, of course, now, it's Friday, which means it's going to be an episode of remarkables. What are remarkables you ask? Again, my name is Carol Marks. The podcast
¶ What are ReMarkables?
is called Carol remarks. And every Friday, I do a segment called remarkables. Which means that I am going to tell you some things that is happening in my life or that has happened in my life, the last week or so in bullet point, type format. I got this idea from another blogger who does a Thursday miscellania post where he will mash up everything in one post that he he either doesn't have the time to dedicate, you know, these certain things to a particular blog post or whatever. I like
the idea. So I started doing it on my blog, and I call them remarkables. Now I had to write down some notes, because I had to refer back to them. I don't know about you guys, I know I cannot be the only one who thinks about what they want to say in a sounds very clever in their head. And they know how they want it to flow as sounds really good when they're thinking about it. But as soon as they hit record, or as soon
as I hit record, I blank out. It also happened to me when I used to do my YouTube videos as well. I would have all these great ideas in my head. But as soon as I turn on the camera or hit record, I would just go blank. So I will be referring back to my notes for this particular episode.
Alright, so what's been happening? Let's go remarkables. Alright, not much has been on my physical calendar. To be honest, however, it has been a productive week. That's weird, but it's okay. I guess I didn't have any events scheduled in my calendar, which made for a productive week in other areas. For example, I finally renewed my pistol permit online. It doesn't expired. It doesn't expire until June, but I like to be ahead of the game. And I renewed it online. And
¶ Renewed Pistol Permit
there was a particular box that you know, you fill it in online, and there's this box that comes up and says physical description, and they're talking about the person because it's right after they asked, you know, how much do you weigh your hair color, your eye color, and then it says physical description. And I typed in their brick house. And then I quickly deleted it. I thought it would be funny but then I thought about it. I think No, I better not put that in there. So
I deleted it. I still thought it was funny. I don't know what would have happened if I had left it there Who knows? Better safe than sorry. And let's say our STEMI checks came in the gent and I are STEMI checks as my daughter likes to call them. stimulus checks. So I
¶ Stimulis Checks
of course I deposited mine immediately because I don't have the automatic online thing. And I bought a wig which I am pacing around the house as we speak, waiting for it to be delivered. I bought Raquel Welch flirting with fashion in bronze sable color I can't wait to get it it looks really cute on all the videos that I've seen people review. I hope it looks cute on me. We show the bit it should be delivered it says on my tracking information that is on the truck
for delivery. Hopefully I will get it before I have to leave to go to work and I have been working out this week in the garage I was finally kind of getting back into the routine of working out again, I
¶ Working Out
have taken off. Gosh, y'all I, you know, I was doing long distance rowing during the winter time in the garage. And then after the first of the year, I did a lot of rowing in january two, but then I just kind of stopped everything and not on purpose. Just, I just got lazy, quite frankly, I just got lazy. And I bet I've started back, I've created a workout schedule for myself every other day is a CrossFit WOD. And then every every third day of that is rolling. I was supposed to do
across it. While today I took off, I worked out three days in row, I'm a little sore. Plus, I've just been lazy. And today, I will pick up on it tomorrow. It's been good for me though. I love I love working out makes me feel a whole lot better, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. And I have hardly seen the gent this week as well, because in his line of work, he works. He's a golf professional, he works in
the golf industry. And his golf course this week, he had two high school tournaments that he had to put together and oversee and organize and all that. So he's been working late, those couple of days, you know, so he gets home after I have already left to go to work. Some of you know that works like it shifts our three to 1133 in the afternoon till 1130 at night, which is probably also another reason I had stopped working
out. Because I would come home 1130 at night, get into bed, maybe buy one, maybe go to sleep at like two to 30. And then I would just sleep in late and then when I would get up, I would just take my time, I would sit in the bed, have a cup of coffee, scroll through the phone, look at my social media. And then I would eventually just taught myself how to work it out. Whereas before when I was working a regular job, I would get up at like four in the morning, get dressed immediately
and go out to the garage. And that's what I have to start doing again in the in the mornings when I wake up. So I've been getting up at seven I've been setting my alarm for seven o'clock in the morning, getting up out of the bed, getting dressed immediately, and going out to work out. That's what I need to do if I sit around and wait and think about it. I'm not going
so anyway,
it also helps me to go to sleep at night when I get home at 12 o'clock at night. I will normally you know unload my bags, my lunch box, get settled in go get in the bed by one and you know I now I can fall asleep quickly. Okay, so that's that haven't seen the jet. And a couple of days. It seems like because of him working late. And then me working my second shift. Normally he gets home. And we can at least spend an hour together before I have to leave. But not this week. Let's see
what else. What else? Oh, what's coming up. That's right.
What's coming up in the near future. My daughter is having a birthday this weekend. We are having the immediate
¶ What's Coming Up?
family over for dinner she wants she has requested steak and potatoes. We asked her what she wanted. And she said she would like steak and potatoes, which is easy enough. And it's just gonna be the six of us. The gentleman I Gracie and her husband and then my son and his fiance. And I do have some family members coming in from out of town and I had invited them over at first and there was going to be like 10 maybe 11 of
us. And then when I told the gent he was like a COVID and I completely forgot about COVID and look we are in a very small we live in a very small house. We live in a townhome. The living room, dining room and kitchen are all together. very cramped for for like 12 people. And so I told them look, I'll meet you for breakfast
somewhere. But as far as dinner at our house, we're gonna have to not do that and just have the immediate family over the gentlemen I have not had COVID and we don't want to get COVID and we just don't want to take that chance. We did this at Christmas too. We didn't have the kids over at Christmas time we did zoom over Christmas, which kind of sucked but me know whatever. Better
safe than sorry, I guess. I know now, the reason I forgot about COVID is because I go on about my life like normal I go to work I still go out to eat at restaurants or go to the grocery store. I go shopping. So I guess I've just gotten used to wearing the mask except last night. Oh my god. Y'all, we have to wear our mascot work all day at work and it is driving me absolutely bonkers. I pulled her off last night and I sat there for a few
minutes without at all. I just couldn't take it anymore couldn't take it. Now the mask mandate for Alabama is supposed to expire tomorrow.
¶ Wearing the Mask
But I know certain businesses will continue their mask mandate. And that's the right to do so. And it's also my right to shop elsewhere. Now at work, we will have to continue to wear the mask because I work in a federal building. And Joe Biden's mass mandate for the first 100 days is still in effect for me at work. Success. Okay. Now, the next thing I want to talk about is the vaccine. First of all, I'm not a doctor, I do not work in the medical industry
¶ The "Vaccine"
whatsoever. This is just my personal opinion and feelings about the air quote vaccine, the COVID vaccine, I think the gent is probably going to go get his first dose on Monday. Okay, I am not an anti vaxxer I promise you, I go and get my flu shot every year. I didn't used to until I actually had the flu one time many many years ago, where I had a very high fever for two days laying in the bed. You know hallucinations and physically
could not get out of the bed. I couldn't you know I lost today's couldn't remember anything except for the gent having to literally carry me out of the bed and take me to the doctor.
But ever since then I've been getting my flu shot. because number one i'm i'm also 50 over 50 years old as well. I also received my two doses of my shingle vaccine as well. Now I won't do that again because they made me feel like crap. But you know, I'm not anti Vax. I'm not, except when it comes to this COVID shot. Now from my understanding, it's not really a vaccine. It is more like a therapy of some sort. I'm not sure but the research I've done I don't think it's a vaccine.
But they're calling it a vaccine just because it's more convenient to say vaccine and I think it makes people feel better. I am not ready to get this COVID shot just yet. Because it scares me that it is so brand spanking new. It has not been approved by the FDA or anything. This is brand new, and it was rushed. Anything that's rushed, I take Paul's in. Now I had no I know. I know all kinds of people that have gone out and gotten the shots. And they're
fine. And I'm glad though the only reason I might even remotely possibly slightly think about getting one getting the shots is because a friend of mine I say for anyone an acquaintance a co worker I used to work with many years ago has been vaccinated or has received the COVID shots. And she is super fit, super healthy and is very cautious about what she puts in her body. And when she she does her research on all kinds of things. And she got her COVID shots which stunned me.
She stunned me out of out of all the people I know that have gotten the shots like my all of my conservative friends they rushed out and got it just like that no questions asked that kind of shocked me. But when this person got the vaccines, I was really intrigued then, because I know how she is. So that is the only reason that I might even possibly slightly Think about it. Getting one getting the shots. Maybe I'm
still not there yet. I've still not there but the gin is probably going to go get his first shot on Monday. I will let you know how that goes. But for now I'm going to let you go. I've talked about 15 minutes now hopefully it has recorded everything. Hopefully Fingers crossed. I will find out in just a few minutes. You guys check out my show notes. Always check out the show notes. There's all kinds of links there that you know if I've talked about something I'll put a link in

I'm here, because I enjoy it first and foremost, and I am having fun with it. And I am learning as I go. And I love learning. And I just want to share things with other people. That's all I want to do. And if somebody else can relate to it and get something out of
it, fantastic. And if it also can help me if it helps open doors for me somewhere else. That's great, too. It's helping me to learn to speak better and to tell stories better. That's why I'm here doing this. And so if you want to donate at buy me a coffee, I will literally go out and buy myself a coffee. That's all I will do. Okay, well.
