Intro / Opening

Speaker 1

Hello and welcome. I'm Carolyn . This is the remarkable beauty podcast. This is my first episode under the new rebranding of the podcast. I rebranded to remarkable beauty for a few reasons. Number one, I love podcasting. Number two, I felt like I had to niche down a podcast and three, I like skincare makeup. Number four, I'm over 50 and five. And while I realize that women over 50 may not listen to podcasts, I want to change that.

And this is one of the reasons I wanted to focus on beauty over 50. What I plan to bring you what you, YouTube influencers are saying, what is trending on Instagram news from the beauty industry and brands basically gathering all the information from different mediums and putting it here in podcast format. There will also be my opinion and fines and what I like. And don't like, what's on

What I Won't Do

sale. And where will , what new trend I may have tried and more than likely some celebrity style and makeup talk too . This brings us into the beginning of the first remarkable beauty episode. I want to discuss with you what I won't do on this podcast. What I won't do is talk to you. Like you just fell off the turnip truck.

This is one of my pet peeves that I I've discovered when , uh, people on YouTube tell me that I shouldn't be doing something because I'm over 50 headlines, like five mistakes women over 50 are doing. If you are over 50, don't apply concealer this way, or what women over 50 shouldn't be wearing. I have a you thoughts on that type of content. First, we do not all age the same. And secondly, I am over 50 and I have gathered some knowledge about myself along the way.

I know what I can and can't get away with. Now, if you want to share with me what your favorite concealer is for mature skin, fine, I'm all in. Don't tell me what I can and can't do just because I'm over 50. I already know what I can and can't do or what I can and can't get away with, but there are some cool YouTubers out there that I like and that I watch on a regular basis. And I wanna share with you some of them now pretty over 50. Her name is Kimberly. She does a great job.

I love sugar puff and fluff. Her name is Nisha , and then Tamara's timeless. Beauty. Other sources I will pull from, I have some Google alerts set up . I booked mark some beauty news agencies and follow brands on social media. Now I realize I just told you all that. I'm going to cure , rate all the information that you need and put it here

Microplastics and Slugging

in a podcast. And each episode will be relevant to current times. It will be like a news talk type of thing, some articles that I , that come to mind right now, for example, from the medical news today, dot com a story about plastics in the bloodstream, microplastics entering your bloodstream via a number of ways, air food, water, and even personal care items, such as toothpaste or lip gloss. I don't know about you, but having microplastics in my bloodstream does not sound good.

Or how about this new, old trend called slugging? Do you know what that is? Have you heard of it? I've not heard of it in that term slugging, but I have heard of putting Vaseline all over your face at bedtime. It is nothing new. Have you ever heard of putting preparation H around your eyes? I would not try that, but I do put Vaseline around my eyes and on my eye. It's because I have no eyelashes due to alopecia the Vaseline, just a tiny, tiny, barely there, around on the lid and lid line .

I have not yet tried my whole face though. I'll probably give that a try. I'll put it like a thin layer on maybe and see what it does now. Do you put lotion on right after you get outta the shower? It's supposed to lock in the moisture. So putting on your face as the last step in your skincare regimen at night makes sense. And it said that there might be something to that. Now, moving on to other segments of the podcast. Again, this is all like general information.

I'm just giving you a general type of feel of what format will be like. So other segments of my podcast will , uh , also include

Going Off Script: Lady Gaga

where I may go off script and talk about celebrities and making page six or their , what they're wearing to events and what's happening with them. Um, so right now I'm gonna go off script and talk about lady Gaga or her name Stefani , Joanne Angelina Jina . Is that not like the best name ever? I don't know where she came up with lady Gaga, but I like her, her real name. It's just so easy. I like her name. It says sounds fun. Okay. Off script . Let's talk about lady Gaga.

She's, she's really some news lately with being at the Oscars and at the Grammy's. And she's very like old Hollywood classic beauty type things. And you know, when lady go , I have to be honest, you know, I'm 55, she's only 36. So when she first came on the scene, I really didn't like her because I thought she was a gimick. I thought she was gimmicky with all that weird fashion that she would wear. And I don't know, she just didn't seem like my cup of tea.

Okay. And then one day I was perusing and this was probably years later after she came out, you know, after she made it big, I was perusing YouTube . And I saw a video with her and Tony bitt doing a song. I forget what song it was . I think it was lady in the tramp. Oh no, this lady is a tramp, whatever, you know what I'm talking about? And she had like, like this teal Aqua hair , it's that video. If you ever go look for it. And it's the first time I actually heard her real singing voice.

I was blown away y'all and I thought, oh my, and she didn't have a , you know, her hair was of course, Aqua, but she was dressed, you know, regular kind of, and, and she didn't have this, all this weird makeup on her face. She looked like regular person. And she was gorgeous. Not only was she gorgeous, but the girl can sing, oh my gosh, she has one of the most beautiful voices ever. So after I saw that video, I became a fan. I became a fan of hers, of her talent, of her singing.

Um, so, you know, I don't follow her, follow her, but I just, I have a new appreciation for her because I know she's very talented. And I love that she kind of hooked up with Tony Bennett and did a lot of recording with him and a lot of work with him. And now she had that moment on stage with Liza Mannel oh , it just warmed my heart because I never pictured lady Gaga being like that . And I'm like, oh my gosh, she is a fantastic person. And I love that she's working with the legends.

And I would, you know, I would like to see her work with Billy Joel. Now I know Billy Joel is a different generation of legends. It's not Tony Bennett and it's not, he's not old Hollywood. I would like to see her work with , uh , Billy Joel. I would like Elton John . I would like to see her now, Tina, Turner's no longer working. She's retired, but it would be awesome to see them do a song together. I don't know. I just, like I said, have a whole new appreciation for her.

And she was just stunningly beautiful at the , um , Oscars and at the Grammy's and yeah, so I have to sometimes take a step back or a second look at something before I make a judgment on it. So having said that

Personal Goals

we are gonna get back to the script now, and I'm gonna tell you what you can more news and stories like that here on the podcast. But I also have personal goals. I renamed my YouTube channel and will be doing some chats over there as well. However, it will not be word for word from this podcast. It will be more like a highlight reel in order to get new listeners , uh, to come over here to the podcast.

I am hopeful to get a spare bedroom redone so I can turn it into my YouTube slash podcast studio. That is a long term goal. Like hopefully by the end of the year, maybe I'm hoping I will not be doing makeup tutorials or out of the day or the outfit of the day or none of that kind of thing. It will still be talk type content. And I do want to bring on guests as well.

I am experimenting with different social media apps to see which one will work best for promoting the podcast cast and or how best to utilize them. There is a new platform called racket that I've been playing with and hope to use that one a lot . We shall see. Well, I guess that's the end and I thank you for listening.

And if you've enjoyed this episode , uh, keep in mind that this was kind of my first episode, just explaining to you what to expect in the future episodes, which will be more organized and put together and more polished in the future. But if you, like I said, if you, if you've enjoyed this, please take the time I , and share it with one friend. And I ask that you also give me a five star rating review. If you are listening on apple, that would be great and very helpful.

And I want to get more women over 50. Oh, okay. Over 40 to start listening to podcasts. So let's have fun. Thanks and bye. Thanks for listening for .
