Episode description

In this episode, AML RightSource Vice Chairman, John Byrne, sits down with the chief of the IRS Criminal Investigation Division, Don Fort, to talk about a number of important elements in the AML community. John and Don discuss private-public partnerships and how essential it is for law enforcement and their counterparts in the private sector, to work together. Don also talks about the value of Bank Secrecy Act data, the importance of suspicious activity reports, and how all reports are analyzed and reviewed by the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation Division. This year marks 100 years since IRS CI has been in existence. John and Don talk about changes in financial crime over the past century, and explore some of the similarities with crimes committed at the start of the IRS CI as they relate to crimes today. Sit back and enjoy AML Conversations.
