Sami is joined by activist, speaker, model, and writer Corey Rae. To start off the conversation (and in spirit of Pride Month) Corey shares her favorite Pride memory of the time she met Laverne Cox, and considers what a post-pandemic Pride will look like this year. They chat about Corey’s experience growing up transgender, becoming the world’s first openly transgender prom queen, then living in stealth for next five years. They also discuss how the 2016 Orlando shooting led Corey to share her viral blog post “Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself.” They talk about navigating the world as a trans person and having a support system through the process. To finish off, Sami and Corey talk about Hollywood’s diversity problem and the need for more inclusive, positive transgender stories in media.
