Episode description

Three years after a strange killer disease swept the globe, the world has begun to move on from Covid. But the impact of the virus is staggering to contemplate. Official estimates say the virus killed over one million here in the US, and seven million worldwide. That is an underestimate, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci; the real death toll could be as high as 20 million. Christiane meets with him in New York, where he has received the prestigious Calderone Prize from Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health.

Also on today's show: Jemima Khan, screenwriter, "What's Love Got to Do With It"; Emily Witt, staff writer, The New Yorker
