Hi. My name is Tom Welling. I played Clark Kent on Smallville and you are listening to Always Hold On to Smallville. Welcome to Always One to Smallville. This podcast we talk about each and every episode of the Young Superman Show The RAM from two thousand and one to twenty eleven, from the WB and the c W. I'm my host, Zach Morn. I'm joined by Las and Nick Ryan mcdoesa. So, Nick, seriously, you know what that means? Yep, it's another mail bag twelve. Wow. Nice by
my calculation. That's why I say that. On the Patreon commentaries for all who don't know, don't listen to the Patreon. We do monthly commentaries some small episodes I do and uh, I say this episode this voter about you the people. That's a totally different scene. But Bane's just a quotable guy. Yeah, I really am a quoting person here. I always show up for mail bags. I like mail give you some unfortune? Do you feeling? Josh? All right? So another mail bag? Nick excited? Yeah?
Really nice out today. So yeah, we're sitting outside. So if you hear like birds planes hopefully not or maybe some James Brown. Yeah, we've been playing that song a lot, and I realized that if I ever have a real on the air radio show, I'm gonna pay better it takes to get on up be my intro, because that'd be so awesome. It's not perfect, It's like dude from using Texas like it's perfect. Anyway, that's no my knew dream job now, just for that purpose, I don't
care what the topic is. I don't know where it is. I don't care where it is. I just want to be able to play that song every bump in and pump out your bad fail number two anyway. Opening the mailbag yet again, going through emails, messages, podcast reviews. I wish other podcast apps had reviews like okay, Apple podcasts is like the main I used to call them my tunes reviews, but I can't call them that anymore. Right, when did that change, dick oh, A long time ago.
I don't remember when, but whenever the podcast app came out, I have no idea. Yeah, when it separated itself, what was that all about? Right? There's Apple Music, and who uses Apple Music like the way they want you to? Yeah, I don't know. I only use it whenever I have a free trial and then I put a reminder to cancel. It's like, we'll have my iTunes libraries. Is this? Man?
See I remember back in the day, like when I would like curated, like you know, my my iTunes stuff, and I got all of the like the album art for all the albums, so that way on my iPad, would you know, scrolling through you saw all the album artwork. Put a lot of thought and time and pride into that. And now it's like, man, I wasted a lot of time doing because it doesn't it doesn't translate anymore. It doesn't know. Yeah, that's spend my experience. I
remember spending a lot of time for my zoom though. Yeah, hey, shout the zoom and shout to keV because because keV have one of those, I still have it somewhere and so everybody on earth is juicy now to listen to me. Yeah, crea, is that a bird a play? No, it's a helicopter. Shout to the helicopter. That helicopter got on up. No, this is that we're having some great weather here at the end of December, and we thought, hey, why don't we sit outside.
I was gonna make a comment because we get together we usually go to lunch or something for dinner, and uh, I was gonna make a comment, Wow, what a great day to go inside and we're going to podcast for two hours and I'm like, you know what, why don't we go outside? Yeah? Cast me outside? How about that? Yeah? Oh man, that was a long oneter one for a long time. So we got we're opening up the bill back. It's always fun to go through these messages.
Thanks to everybody who sent in a message or an email or left us a review on Apple Podcasts. You can leave comments on Spotify. I got a couple of these sprinkled in because if I see them. I don't know if that helps at all your algorithm or whatever, but I know that from the beginning days of podcasts coming from the the what do you call that? No? What the iPod? iPod? So far? Oh yeah, I
never had an iPod? Who had an iPod? Wow? I remember asking that my my parents got me like an r C m P three player or something like that, some other off brand one. Yeah. I just got myself an iPhone four when they came out. That was my first iPhone. I've never looked back iPhones only. Yeah. See I was late to the iPhone game. But I had the pod for for a little bit. Yeah there was the video iPod that. Oh yeah, my brother got a Nano and I was so jealous. What what do you watch on that? Like?
What are you two inch screen? Like? You download you know, YouTube videos and you put them off there? Did you even download YouTube videos back then? Well? I have a few. I remember my parents are getting me a cell phone for band specifically, and it was Sony Erickson. And why did you get your cell phone for band? What do you mean? Because I had to stay after school and I did have a phone to call my parents phone of mister Duggans's office. Nothing good come from his using
that phone? Does he sit there on his computer not like not looking at you, but also like judging you? Is it okay for me? Us his phone? Sir? Does a grant have a phone I can use instead? But it had a connection. It had a little adapter for sady ericson camera, and I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Then that thing was like eight pixel that's like the camera you could used to attach to what the game Boy. I was like, oh game Boy color my
camera? Anyway, So all I have to say, leave us reviews wherever you can. Yeah, Apple podcasts seems to be the still the main one because it's a podcast coming from the iPod and here we are. It's like kleen X and Q tips and things like that. I don't know what else you would call. There's no non pod name for these, like these are podcasts. Yeah yeah, Well, like a Xerox machine clean X. That's a brand of a tissue paper or a copier. But a podcast is not
a brand name for a pod. It's just a podcast. That's branding, right. There is the power of branding. So they didn't even make eyepods anymore, do they? No? No, which is crazy because now it's a part of your phone. Yeah yeah, and now people are paying paying more money to buy the older ones. That's why I just keep yourself, y'all. That's what I say. Keep everything in sixty four. I don't have to get a mode in sixty fore I have it in sixty four.
Yeah, So you're all ready to open up the mail bag here, let's do it all right, So let's start with an email from Stephen Phillips titled someone bombed My heater reference to Talkville, The Ultimate small vel Rewatch Podcast Ultimate. It's okay. I don't watch it, so that means, but do you listen to it on your iPod? I don't. I listened to you guys more than Talkville, so that. Wow, that's a lot. And I know how you listen to us. That's impressive. So I didn't know
you could listen to anything less you listen to us. Nick, Thank you. Gotta catch up for the podcast is over. We talked about this right out of time. Yeah. Yeah, we'll get that back in season two. You're like, I can do that. I still can't. All right, we'll see. I've had people watch this whole show like in a month. I gotta you got a shot. You got a shot? So yes, Stephen Phillips, someone bombed my heater, Zach and friends. That's y'all. I recently went through a Snyder binge of Man of Steel, bvs.
Ultimate and Justice League Snyder in order to prep for Flash and say goodbye to this universe. I'm glad I'm reading this in not Lance. Yep, he'd be triggered by this. Uh. I went in with really little expectations but ended up enjoying it despite the movie's issues. I followed it up. I listened to you all seven parts Snyder Special. Thank you, Steven. My questions mostly stem from what Snyder was building with the nightmare glimpses. Let's discuss
all the nick you familiar with. Yeah, I actually know that I have been probably the exact same questions that he has. He has four questions here. Let's discuss number one. Is it a nightmare or is the vision of the future. It's a nightmare with a K because he's Batman that night. That's actually a currently running comic, right It is my understanding because it's a vision of the future. It's my understanding that the flash going back in time
to talk to him triggered some sort of vision in the future. That is my understanding, and it's all very vague, and it absolutely should have been cut out of the movie. But that's my understanding of what it is. Number two, it's shot like Bruce having these visions, but foresight isn't in his utility belt. That's right back back. God had a dream at the end of the world, right there. Number Three, If it's a nightmare, why do we care about someone's fever dream? People have those all the
time and aren't navigating about decisions based off them. I agree because he's like, we need to be ready. I'm like, okay, now, and I agree Number four. Let's say it is an actual vision in the future, then why are we trying to resurrect the one guy who is going to bring this upon us. We don't need to risk an entire planet for Superman to destroy when Akamane can Fork fleeing stand and Wolf into a wonder Woman decavit.
Sure we did need Superman to get Steven Wolf to that point, though it was pretty established that he was more powerful than all them, so that makes sense that we need a back. But again, I defend the Snyder movies more than Lance over here. I don't know what do you think about the Snyder movie. I'm super neutral. I could care. You're supernaitient. No, you can't be. I used to be you. You can't be super. You have to pick a side. Well, then, if anything,
I lean more on Lances. All right, that's fine, that's fine. We're That's why we're on this side of the table. This is a round table, exactly. I try to promote a quality around here and then I get told I'm on the wrong side of the table, all right. Anyway, No, I look, I think that it all should have been snipped out, like when if you got to cut forty minutes out of Justice
League Nightmare sequence stuff. It's a cool thing on its own. It made a lot of cool stuff for trailers, and that's probably why they kept it in. But that's the first thing to go, and all the extra stuff they shot for zac cent or Justice League is my least favorite part of the movie, So I totally get why this is using. It's never spelled out, and I would have lost it if we had to cut the These are the things I would choose to cut out of the movies. I agree.
So he goes on to say, anyways, this podcast is consistently better than the pilot, so I give it the highest rating achievable four point seven rosins using the Metric Laster scale. Of course, keep being great, Steve, Well, thanks Steve. Shout out to you, Steve, and Hey, appreciate you listening to all of our Snyder Cut specials. Those were fun. Enjoyed the flash though interesting. You did have low expectations, though maybe that
was maybe that's I also hope we all had low expectations. True, Yeah, that was the car ride with the lowest expectations ever. Yeah, that was Well it's over now. Yeah, and so why didn't you read the next one? Cool? All right? Next is from Marana Jim via Facebook messenger. Hey, there been listening to the show for a while. Although I'm way late to the party and trying to catch up to real time episodes, I'm on season four and find the whole shower scene tally hilarious. I
recently started yet another rewatch of our favorite show. I started laughing as I am watching Heat shower scene. I know it's not season four funny, though, how this rewatch I'm thinking in tally board terms while watching. Thanks for that. Have a great weekend, Virginia. Well thanks for Ginia. I think I I initially started season four shower and then I think it changes into shower scenes r. I think Corymore helped us out, because well, the
show gets pretty thirsty in season four. There's a lot of what's the shower scene in Heat? Oh it's a pool scene. Yeah, when desre ackins in sound and pool no pun intended. Hottest guest star on the show is that when the CW started becoming a little We're risque with their No, that was season six. They were always risky. That's when w started get a little more risque. But yeah, the tally thing was always a fun thing
to keep track of. Sometimes it's like kind of a chore which I could sit there enjoy the episodes, but instead instead I got to like, oh, how many times did it close the laptop on my But it's just a fun thing to keep it tally of, and especially the hospital visits for sure. Yeah, I don't think we're gonna break two hundred on that, but we're gonna get pretty close, because we're around one fifty right now when we got season and a half left as of this recording. All right, Dick,
you want to read the next one? Yeah? And here we have a five star rating from on the Apple podcast from gamer Gal three thousand, titled the Best Smallville Podcasts See what's looking for a reviewer for one of my favorite shows of all time, and I have founded here. Thank you so much for all your work and wonderful content. We'll be listening to every single episode. Keep it up, Keep it up, keep it up. Thanks gamer Gal. I appreciate that. Hopefully you continue to listen to and enjoy
the vodecaste if you just found it not too long ago. Got a lot of episodes ahead of you. Yeah, so hopefully you continue to enjoy it and you keep listening. We'll keep putting on podcasts. Appreciate it all right. We have an email from Allison Schoolthorpe titled really enjoying your podcast just finished season four. Apparently everybody is just finishing season four. Hey there ahead of me. This must be like a new crop of new listeners that you've picked
up, though. That must be it. It's because I was on the Ultimate Smallvel Rewatch podcast, a second ultimate podcast review about small I told you that I appreciate that, But she says, hello, my name is Alison and I'm a healthcare worker and mom in Ontario, Canada. I just want to let you know how much I'm a enjoying your always hold on to Smallville podcast now. Funny enough, I've never seen small than when it was on the air. I was in university then college for specialized degree. It must
be a Canadian thing with the university and college being different. Yeah, it's outside of this country. They handle that very differently. It really had no time at all for TV for years, but a couple of years ago I discovered Michael Rosenmom's Inside of You podcast and enjoyed it. So when he started a small Ville rewatch podcast with Tom Welling, I watched that too. Then you were on an episode and I thought, oh, this guy's doing a
small wel rewatch podcast. I'll start watching the show so I can listen to it. So you got me into Smallville. I watch it on Amazon Prime, getting in two to four episodes at a time, then listening to your rewatch episodes. I'm just finishing season four. Your quote, what days of what time is it? Unquote questions always get to laugh out of me. And you're always so right to question so often it doesn't make sense. I roll my eyes. That's some of the high school drama. But I enjoy
the overall story of clarks adventures and struggles as he comes of age. Like so many, I'm not a lot of fans. After four seasons, she just seems to have no personality except giving people long looks and hating secrets and lies. I'm curious if she'll have character growth in future seasons. And I agree all the real life stuff that happened with Alison Mack who shares my first name. It's just insane. Anyways, I look forward to more of your
podcast. I find your voice great to listen to. You have great pacing and banter with your guests, and behind the scenes tibits are so interesting and I really enjoyed the tally board so many hospital visits. Lol, have a great day, Allison. You lowered your voice at that point in time? Why did you make that decision? Because she finds my voice great to listen to. My voice is great to listen to as well, and it is
not pitched in a little active it could be done well. Glad you found us through Talkville, the Ultimate Smuvelrewatch podcast, Allison, And hey, a lot of people have been finding the show through there. Yea, so it's awesome. It's it's really great. I mean, in addition to spend a few minutes of those guys on the air, you me bumping from Tom, having you know, my picture there with all their in their thumbnail, and then getting more uh getting more uh listeners from it. It was a fantastic
experience. I hope to be back. We'll see. But thanks Alson. I appreciate that, and well, you know, Lana mixed bag, right, I mean she gets to knowing real fast. But what are your thoughts on Laa. I really like Lana up to the seasons I watched, which is wet, probably season three to be honest. And uh, what's really funny is that I actually, when I I think when I think of Lana, I do think of small Field. But I still think of Chun Lee
the movie because I remember seeing that with all my friends. It's like, oh, that's the check for Smallvield, but none of my friends watched Smallville. So yeah, the writing really let her down, yes, stressing correct down, because like they should have. They should have done something with her finding out the secret or something like in season three or four and then move forward. But I mean she doesn't officially officially find out till season six.
Yeah, and then leaves at the end of season seven and then comes back into real season eight, And it's it's unfortunate that they dropped the ball with that whole character act for her, for sure. We have a Spotify review from Parker mail bag number eleven. I thought I had sent an email. Maybe you didn't get it. I could have messed outing up, or I was just so whole quality. You didn't want to give it time. Yeah, I I don't know, partner, Uh, maybe send that email again.
Always Marvel with one SA dot com. I did go back and look, I don't know, we got got lost in the sauce there. Yeah, but sorry, but hey, you read out your yeah U your Spotify comment, so we know that at least works. Yeah. Yeah, So anyway, Always Malville with one said gmail dot com or try again. All right, and now we have a Facebook Messenger message from Zach. Hurley thought of this jiff when catching up on Talkville and hearing you on an episode.
Congrats Zach, and keep up the good work. Still catching up on the rest of the A h O t s podcasts. But as you say, we'll get there, y'all. Yes, as I say my catchphrase, we'll get the it's okay appropriation, So we do. Indeed, the gift he was talking about was the guy who was like, anyway, what is that
from? Uh? Which one like? And then he goes, right, oh, that that's from the super Hot Fire Okay, it's it's it's the one where there's a group of guys and the like they and and super Hot is like saying the dumbest things, like he's like sweet dollar tea from McDonald's. I drink that. He's like super hot fire and he just like fans in HOI and looks back like the coolest guy. The other guy walks in front of the camera like he just got his mind blown. That's the gift
you sture. You think it again. Somebody see him on Talkville. Appreciate it. That's gonna be interesting people who might have not known that I was gonna be hot. I just pop up. It is well, Thanks Zach Ledger. Continuing to listen to podcasts and and we will get there, y'all. As I always say, I'll get there too. You're not gonna get there. You're not getting anywhere. The only thing he's getting is getting on up, Get Up. I got an email from a super Jack's titled Comics.
Hey Man, I've been listening to your podcast and here you talk about the comics a lot of Superman, and I was curious on how I would go about reading them, like which order and what not to eat them in, and what would be a good places to order them online would be. You have any input or advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you. For reading well, super Jacks, I uh say, first of all, go to your local comic shops. Support your local comics shop if you got
one nearby. I don't know what kind of how big or small your town may be. The bigger the bigger place you live, the more options you're gonna have. We we're fortunate to have quite a few options here in Houston. But I would uh say online. You know, Amazon has good graphic novels. eBay from More Obscure Single list us. As far as like where to start for Superman, you know, I would start with some origin stories
I was. I would recommend Jeff Johns on Superman close personal friend of the podcast, close personal fan friend, like a friend of the Cheff Johns, Geoff Johnson. So wait time out, Nick, do you not know? No, Jeff Johns reached out to you. Jeff Johns was on the last episode of this podcast. Wait, I can't. I can't tell I'm looking at Lance and then I'm looking at it, Zach, I can't series keep
it a hundred no cap, no cap? Okay, Jeff Johns was on this on this podcast, and no shout out to John Lee Brodie who their friends. Yeah, so yeah, So John and I interviewed Geff Johns for the last episode of the podcast, the one immediately preceding this one. That's correct, Thanks, which is why it's so funny. Oh my god. So if he wasn't my favorite comic grin before, he is now, Jeff, No, what you've been missing out? Oh my god, I not
listened to your friends. But hey, thank you for your patronage. Though. Yeah, I'm still patriot, but oh my gosh, I think I have a couple of things signed by him too. It's amazing. So anyway, I would recommend Jeff John's run on Superman. Uh, let's see last son he wrote with co with Richard Donner, Yeah, and then Bizarro World Escape from his Zar World, which I'm like, it's whatever, I guess of all these, that's the one, I'm like, yeah, yeah.
But then Brainiac Superman, the Legion, uh, and of course Superman's Secret Origin. Those all kind of all fit together. Gary Frank do the artwork on most of those. He draws a very Christopher asks Superman. And then there's the new Krypton saga, which Geoff john starts out, and then it kind of I think DC even some changes they had to wrap up wrap that up too quickly, and so it quickly turned to something else. But I would start there if you want like a like you're asking for, like a
run of Superman stories. Now, he did write some of the New fifty two Superman as well, but I would stick those ones I mentioned there. And also if you're looking for more origins, I would go with Superman Birthright by Mark Wade, Superman for All Seasons by Jeff Low. These are all solid jumping off points as well, so start with those and yeah, let me know. And uh, if you have any further follow up questions, just email me back. We can talk more in depth there. So thanks,
super Jacks. I can still can't get over you guys. Yeah, I know right now, that's what you get for not keeping up hilarious. Well, I'm not on Twitter anymore, sot X dot call. Yeah still Twitter, are you not? I'm on it? I have an account, but I'm not checking it right. Okay, I'm gonna tag you in this though. You should rebrok Okay, I'll rebodcast. Thank you. I mean, I'm not worried, but you need all sturdy followers. You gotta be
an audience taken all right. Next, we have another Facebook message from David. Hey, I just wanted to reach out and say I love the podcast. I'm way behind. Podcasts were never my thing, and my wife said, there has to be something out there for you. I found the episode of Talkville you are on and started listening to always hold On Too Small Villa, and that is what gets me through work every day. Love your work, man. I'll sound crazy, but while listening I add my own ratings
and commentary to it, agreeing or disagreeing. I think we all do that. Yeah, thanks David, I appreciate that. And yet again somebody else to finding through Talkville. So cross promotion is important. Yea. Why do you think they have one Chicago Nights because the people who are watching Chicago pete like, oh they have a Fireman show like this too. Yeah, oh that makes sense. Yep, it shout out to on Chicago because we got all three are coming back baby January seventeenth. Really, let's go. I
know, it's really great to hear and see that. And I've seen you in the numbers too. My numbers are really going on up since I was on Talkville, and that again, that's just a welcome side effect, like if I got zero new listeners in that, it just would have been a great experience. But it's great to because if I were in somebody else's position and I was like, man, I really want to watch us or listen to a small Ville rewatch podcast, and I was like, Okay, well,
the starts of the show, we're doing it great. But it's like they're in the second season or whatever, and you see this guy and he's like, oh, in season eight, Oh, let me go check that out. So thank you for finding the show and continue because I'm sure I'm sure there's good norm people like I'll check that guy out and like, this guy's terrible. I can't listen to this, So I'm sure there's a good
percentage of people that didn't contine to listen. So David, people like you, thank you so much for finding the show and being a fan, and send me a message about it too. That's a whole other like for every like that's like such a percentage of a percentage of percentage people that find the show and listen to it, people that like the show, and then people like show enough to send you a message. So thank you, David. All Right, now we have a comment on Spotify from Maya Dean titled My
Adventures with Superman Season one. Loved it as always, I do think Zach and Lance are getting to the age where they are setting their ways. Though not a complaint, but I see the beginnings of back in my day starting. Well, first of all, we don't we don't plan ahead. Who's gonna read what? That's glad you read that one? Yeah, that's perfect fine. I think you and I were talking about how we like certain things
about summing the animated series better. Yeah, well you know that. I mean, you're not wrong, because we all get to that point, which is funny because like I brought this up in my in my classes once, like and I always bring it up to bring it up like this, I'm like, raise your hand. If you in here have younger siblings and a bunch of them, people will raise their hand. I was like, all right, now, the people in here who have younger siblings, how many
of you hate all the stuff that your younger siblings are anything? It's stupid? And all of them raised their heads, and I was like because and I was just like, look, we all get to this point. Uh, some some of us get we get there later or earlier than others, but we all eventually kind of get there with certain things. So you're not wrong. But yeah, that is funny. Though, Nick, have you seen my adventures with Superman? I have not. I want you catch up
on small though. You can watch that. Yes, I don't worry. I I will eventually get there, y'all. That's gonna be my motto. Now, I'll eventually get there, y'all or you guys, I don't really say y'all. You know why that's funny. You don't because you always so that's something that that's what we say. Okay, but I get full credit, but you get credit for I'll take it. Yeah, And look, I gave you credit because I didn't know. That's right. We could have.
I could have just let him thinking of his mine, but I was here on air. Yeah. Actually I would have assumed it was his forever. Like I'm like Elvis and you're like BBK, yeah, yo, e P. What's up? Man? There was a real king rock and roller out there. Thanks Maya. I appreciate it, and yeah, it's true. Good. We're just gonna say, you know why I like the best? Yeah, not necessarily, but this is the thing. I'm glad that
there are new things that come out that I like. There are, yeah, because I would I would be concerned that I'd be one of those people if like everything in past two thousand and five is garbage SHP but the Batman, god Zilla minus one, Like, there are there are things in the fandoms that I love that come out recently that I really enjoy Star Trek,
but Card season three specifically, nothing else. I would be concerned if I looked in like, man, I hate everything that came out in the year two thousand and onward, but fortunately there's not, so I think it's the whole for me. Yeah, and then you know, and just like with everything, like there's gonna be stuff that you like and then there's stuff that you don't. So yeah, it just is what it is, all right. I have an email from Brandon lytele podcast Tallyboard. Now I posted these
on the social media. I usually don't do this, but this is you know. When I got this, I think, I think it's actually a deleted scene for Superman four, and it was in the movie but they cut it out, and it's when you know you've ever seen Superman. For Nick most likely he's the one with the nuclear heat where he disarms the world from nuclear missiles. Yes, I don't know if you have or not. I
don't believe you. And he goes. So this kid Jermy writes Superman a letter, all right, and Superman like, I'm gonna write to the Daily Planet and Suerman gets it and he goes to the school and this is the least scene. He goes to school. It's like Germany, this most important letter I've ever received. Yeah, that's how I feel about the semen as he shows it to his teacher. Yeah yeah, yeah, speaking of CBS all Excess star Trek, it was uh for the longest times, like who
is that one? She's the teacher Superman for Anyway, I'll have to say Brandon has compiled a tally board of the podcast itself, and we were just joking about this before we before we started recording. Its fantastic stuff. Now, yeah, there's follow up emails to this, so this is incomplete, but as she said the email, these are the taliboards. Sir Hi Zach, I'm a big fan the podcast and I just finished your coverage of season four. That's a that's what people we need, we need a tally board
of people who just finished season four. Oh my goodness, so much content coming after the show's over, which, despite some potholes, is one of my favorite seasons. Okay, I think you're hilarious and I love the conversations you have with each and every one of your guests. Thanks it is Smubble is my favorite show to revisit from when I was a kid. I was only seven when it started, but it was something I watched with my dad for many years and it was just a constant in my life through the entire
run of the show. I find your series tally Boards to be hilarious, and I thought it would be fun to do a podcast tallyboard for some of the tropes of your podcast, which I find very entertaining. So far in your episode season one through four, this is what I have for you. Same age as Clark Kent fifteen, which is rather low. Honestly, I
thought it would have been more than that. Did you know that Nickobs the same age as Clark Kent on the show one for the tally Board series finale spoilers twenty two Awesome man, Billy's ain't Alex Luthor Fancast four like there's gonna be more. That's gonna go that's gonna keep going up always on Heroes twenty four Yeah, that sounds about right. You want to be on that name? Yes, I do ACTU. All right, you canna watch Heroes? I will actually watch that. Yeah, how when did you watch? How
far did you watch Heroes? When you are even? I watched it up all the way up until the strike, and then I think I even continued after the strike. I watched it. I watched it all the way to the bitter end, and I even watched Heroes Reborn, but only the first half, and even I had to stop. Ooh, I think I did watch part of that too. That was awful. Sometimes you just need to let stuff alone. Sometimes dead is better to you think we could get another
Heroes? I think it would do well. No, that's what they said before Heroes Report. Yeah, and it did not work for anyone. Wait what here was Hero's Report twenty fourteen? Something like that? Yeah, oh yeah, no, I didn't watch Heros reporn All right? All right, back to the tally board. Here. What day is at game time? Twenty five? What day is it? What time is it? What is going on? Worse than pyrotechic football coach six. I remember that because that
was like my litmus test. I'm like, guess, guy's worse than the fire technic football coach, as in like the way they got their powers because actually coach Walt from one or these Wow from Wonder, that Nicky run that episode that was actually like this an episode I remember like this is the dumb but it was actually I had a good theme. It was actually a good, solid episode I thought for what they were, especially what they were doing
those early seasons. But like worse than the pyrotenning football coach means like this is how they got their powers, Like, oh I was I was a salesman in a car and now I have salesman powers because a meteor crash. Next what Yeah, that's worse than pyrotechnic football coach. That's what that is. Clark spelling me C H L A r K, because I have to say when it's like shipping Clark and Chloe, the shipper name is Clark, which sounds just like Clark. Seven of those what if it's chill Ark.
I'm just kidding. That's what you have me on only for the mail bags. No, no, we have you on for the mailbox. You haven't seen Smallville ye season three, but like, oh man, what happened to Chlolee? I can't wait to find out? Okay, fair, that's fair, that house blew up. I haven't seen her since. Uh, finally,
Trevor Mitch in ten Wow. The funniest part, like every time you mentioned Trevor, like I laugh just because like we've been doing this for forever, but like, oh, I laugh because I know the real reason why we like chose that name in particularly. Yeah, it's a name we came up with in college talking about certain kinds of people doing certain kinds of things,
and uh it fits, Trevor. Yeah. I love your podcast and I'll update your own personal talibar once I'm through what you would lovingly referred to as the college dropout seasons. Keep keep at it and thanks for the great content. Forever a fan, Brandon Little Thanks Brandon, and I really appreciate that. And you're gonna have more messages coming up later. And uh, it's fantastic, as we know you made it. That's true words what you're
saying about something else. Thanks so much. That's good. All right. Next, we have an email from Jim Thomas titled random stuff. Hello Zach, longtime Patreon listener. Here. I'm sad we're embarking on the end, so I wanted to write while I could. So we're headed into season nine of your podcast, probably my favorite season, and I don't really think it's close other than for nostalgia regions. Uh talk feel is fun, but I have to say you and Lance and your regular rotation of guests co hosts are
way more entertaining. Well, thank you. I appreciate that. Is it just me? Or does Michael always interrupt Tom and Rush The kind of sounds like Kirk Cousin's there for a second like that. Uh, it gets kind of annoying, though I still enjoy it. Anyhow. Before your podcast ends, SOB, I wanted to cover a few points just to give you some shout outs as an all so see if perhaps you could do a few small those specials on some of the items I've always wondered about. So here is
his list. Can you explore the reasons Alan Miles left the show? I think there's more here than what we get on the surface. Let's let's go these point by point. Could we read the whole thing and we'll get lost in the sauce, which is my favorite term using your new favorite, one of your favoritauce. Bro Yeah, no, cat Nick, what what do you think that means? Lost in the sauce? Lost lost in the sauce, Lost in the sauce is just getting lost in the details. I think
the sauces details. I just like that or rhymes sauce. I heard probably I heard kem say once on a podcast not long ago. I want we'll get there, y'all. So Alan Milesy in the show, I know that it's not some big nefarious thing. It's just like they started that Aquamanmpire because they that oh walk smavels winding down. Yeah, we're going to start another
show. But then they did the c W, and then the c W was gonna pick up Auckaman and they didn't, so they fell kind of like jipped on that, and then they wanted to pursue or movie stuff like Shang High Knights, and they they were coming off a little before that, but Spider Man too, like they they were coming off like getting some some good opportunities and they went on to do other shows. You into the Badlands, Yeah, yeah, you watched I didn't watch that. You enjoyed that show
Wednesday, which I've still yet to see is phenomenon? Yes, it is, so you see Wednesday. Yes, at least you watched something by Alan Miles. I didn't actually know it was that. Oh explace, probably why I like it. Yeah, there you go. Well, there's there's plenty more seasons of work they've done you can check out. So yeah, I really think that was pretty much I mean, doing anything for seven years. You know, they were like all right, we're good, yeah, because
they you know, they had a five year plan. Yeah, So yeah, I think I think that's that's really as far as I know. There's not like big secret break up like the farious thing going on there. They just want to pursue it of things. M hm uh. The next point it says same for Alison Mack. Are there documentaries about this? All right?
So, as I understand it, she was in nexium and that didn't really turn into what we all know what became through documentaries and podcasts and what and you know criminal James Yeah until after the show, So I know she was looking at trying to pursue other things. And again, like everybody else, he's been doing this for ten years, so she said, Okay, I'll come back for one more year and it's a limited contract. I don't
think there's anything to farious going on there at that point. Yeah, and again she was an exiom, but it was not doing what we all learned they were doing. So it's not like she quit Small Vault to go to do from all activity if that's what you're getting at there, Jim, Yeah, I mean she she came back for Hey, she was in a couple of episodes at the start, a couple in the middle, and then at the finale. So there you go. That's in those episodes. She's not
in. There's four people in the opening credits. Ridiculous, ridiculous crazy. Uh goes on to say, I've been listening to you on your track at f M show Standard Orbit. I was trying to get through all the episodes to get to the time when you started, but it was taken forever, so I just skipped ahead. Love your insights. So along these same lines, I'm a big fan of Trek of M. Part Way through, it seemed like some of the hosts left. Was there some internal drama and can
you discuss it? So a couple of things on that. Uh, that reminds me of the best tweet of all time with oh yeah, the guy he's watching like the first basketball game ever and he's like just watching the nv A pretty mid so far. When does Lebron show up like he's watching like that? Surminds me about listening to the Standard. It's ture I joined Standard Herbert. I don't know. I want to say around the I don't know, around the whenever Star Trek Beyond came out. I think that was maybe
around one hundredth episode. I think uh Me and Ken Tripp will become good friends. Shout out to Ken. Uh we still are to this day. And we were cool. We have we Kim and I are solid as givy.
We would have kept podcasting forever, right And I think there were we did not experience any drama on our end of things at trek F. I know there were a lot of hosts they kind of had certain feelings about certain things, and and there was like this mass exodus at some point, and we were kind of right in between like the first wave of those things, like we kind of like the old the first crew and the second wave, and we were there for a long We were there for a long time.
Yeah, we did, you know, over one hundred and fifty episodes of it, and uh uh that's really all I can and want to have to say about a lot a lot of good people over there, and uh, you know, like anything else, when you have these big podcast projects, you're just all kinds of people from all different walks of life, and there's there's certain times you're gonna be in sync and do things, and there's certain other times we're not gonna be in sync and they're just gonna go on their
way and people are be like what happened to them? And you're never gonna know. Yeah, so goes that goes that way for a lot of for a lot of podcasting. So so that's but thanks for enjoying cent and over. That was a good show. I had one point. I'll go back and listening to some of those because I know we had some good some good podcasts. So yeah, and that was a lot of good a lot of good times at Trick Fam. There's a lot of good kinds. It's I
mean, it's presumably all going to be there forever. She should probably download it for archival purposes, probably show at some point but no, you had you know, brandis shame of Tello another great guy from over there. Yeah, we did. We did franchise your teeth together after that. That's another situe, very similar situation in Shrek FM. People want to do different things, and some people are in singe and some people aren't beause people like,
oh, they have happened to that show. Well, that's kind of what happened to that show. And I get Brandon and I are super cool. Still talk all the time. U. So I'm good. I'm good with all of these ex co hosts. You guys like that. Guess yeah, why do they in that show? Now? If you never heard Lance again, then you know something bad. If it's just me, If it's just me and Zach one day, something happened and we're back with Nick and I
as always on the mail back anyway, it continues. Can you quickly tell us your thought of Picard season three. I thought it was exceptional. We thought the same, Oh fantastic. I hated Picard season one to the point where I did not watch Picard season two, and they won me over when they brought back the entire cast and played the next Gen theme and the trailer I was like, justin, I thought they was there. I was out.
They pulled me back in. Ye loved. It could have gone so wrong, could have been on the surface of wh're like lyric just copying and priceding and ripping off other Star Truck stuff that worked true as the bones of
the story true, But it's the characters that mattered right. And it got super emotional when they when they brought back The Enterprise D. Of all things, they corrected all the wrongs of the Next Generation movie and the movies, the Generation movies, you know, Data Enterprise D even say Captain Kirk is a little east rigged there. So there's a lot of things they did.
It was just spot on and it really really made up for what the Next Generation are had become in the movies and especially Percard season one and two and going back to the Borg was was was a logical thing to do. I just wish they kind of they had over used the Borg and again Peccard season one and two and Voyager and the movies. It's like, okay, okay, but I get why they did it, Like I understand why they went that way because that's your big bad you know. But it really wasn't.
Ultimately, it was about him being a father and a family guy and that and that is a character arctic for him that goes through the entire series. So it's not like something that made up at the end. And so I think it really paid off and again and to get you know, it felt so good to get the characters you love to see a happy ending, like they can have some rough, rough spots. I'm not saying that that these are my heroes and they can't have issues, And that's what I'm saying.
Imagine, Nick, you're more of a Star Wars guy, right, Yeah, So imagine imagine if the sequel trilogy you got to see Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princes Leshlando Coversy and Chewbacca RG and altogether again on them money, Right, That's what the card Season three was really. But the Star Trek was like, Okay, Star Wars, will you kind of film with the ball we got you? Actually, yeah, that would have actually been Yeah, I'm actually surprised they never made it that far. Really, yeah,
like, well I know there are other reasons. Yeah they should have. They absolutely should have. They should have could have made I know, like, well, I break two billion dollars, you can meat four billion dollars, right, because it's just such a missed opportunity. But the Card season three, they're like, you know what, We're gonna give the fans what they want, but also do more than just fan service. Like people,
people a canna arguebout this until the end of time. They think, like, just because fans want something and you get a variation of that, people are like, well, you just like fan service, don't you. I'm like, yeah, but it needs to be the fan and I've been serviced. The Flash is empty fan service, right, But the Card season three is fans service done in service of a story. So that's that's the way I'll put it there. But they know that I'm a Dix generation.
Is my show other than Smallville, Like my favorite show all the time is Start Check the Next Generation. That's like my show. Uh, And I felt like, so like I can, I can. I can sleep well at night now because they fixed their check the next generation of the card fair enough. Speaking of the Flash, yeah, I know. I just listened to part of your Patreon episode on the Flash movie. It seemed like you and Lance were really angry. I was, uh, does that still hold
for me. Yes, the movie was a lot of fun myself. I think it would have been better without two Ezra Miller characters for sure. Yeah, yeah, I would have liked closure for Supergirl and Michael Keaton's Batman too. Not sure what happened to them, thoughts. Lets Yeah, dude, the movie's ass. I don't know what else to tell you. You enjoyed it, I guess it was for some people. Apparently it was not for
me. I think all the decisions that they made in that movie, everything that they were trying to do, is just a microcosm of everything that has gone wrong with DC and their lackluster productions and the ultimate failure of these past ten years of this regime. Yeah, like closure for super for that superherowl on that Michael Keaton's Batman would have been nice for that movie, but they didn't do it well in the original ending it was and they cut them out.
So now so now this weird incomplete? Like Supergirl, she shows up and Gi gets killed a thousand times by Odd and this last time I ever see her, Michael Keaton like, he gets this death scene, which I think you're supposed to feel something. Yeah, but I didn't. I didn't either. I didn't want to see Michael Kean come back and fight aliens of the desert in the middle of the day. Nick, what about you?
No, actually it didn't even feel like it was earned or anything, because it was Wait, when you when you deal with time and just you lose the effect of death, You're no Like watch I remember watching, It's like, oh, they're gonna kill him? Oh is it? No? Not now it's gonna be this one? Is it this one? Oh no, now, it's every single every single one. So yeah, yeah, it's just it wasn't good man, and I'm so angry about it. Okay, cool, I'm not alone. Look, look, you like Chris to Reeve.
Here's a c Chris to Reeve. That's what they think I want? Ridiculous. Yeah, although I watched it recently and at the end, so I thought it was funny George Clean showed up. Yeah, I'm hm that that was one of those endings like, oh that's funny, but then what was the point of it? And then his tooth falls out? Oh yeah, I forgot like this because that's hilarious. That's fine, Jim, it's bad man, Like, it's not good Jim, it's dead, Jim. Oh. He goes on to say, here's a big one. Do you
think Talkville will make it to season eight? I'm feeling like Michael might quit after season seven because he's not into it anymore. Because he's not on it anymore. I doubt they've thought that far ahead. Maybe someone else will co star with Tom. I've made it this far without watching it. I get asked this so much. I think there's two natural jumping off points for them, season five, right or season seven. But it's like the way they
do the podcast. I think they could just do all ten seasons. It's not Yeah, it's not that heavy a lift. Talk for forty five and we've been here for forty five minutes already, right, That's that's an episode. Five minutes and half of that is them just recapping things, and I just I get I I understand her by skepticism if they're going to finish the show. I'm most fascinated though, if they do get the season eight to see Michael's reactions to all these things. Well, but that go to the
truck. Did he actually did he come out and say he's ever watched season of course he hasn't watched season one through seven, so he lived it. Yeah, So I what do you think do you think that's a do you where do you think they might jump off? If they don't do the whole ten years, they don't do the whole whole ten years, they'll they'll stop after seven because that's when Michael's done. You see why I say five though, as well, like it seems like a mm hmm, you know if
he wants to keep doing it. Yeah, I don't know. They seem to have a they got they got a Waletle machine going, right, Yeah, And because Rosamond has Insiety, which is a great podcast, right, he's got that going already. Like it's not like this is the only thing they do, so this is like kind of adjacent to that. So those wheels are going to keep moving. That's gonna keep moving. And I think I think if I had put money on it, I'd say they do the
whole show. That's my take. Okay, all right, the finale. So it's clear you and some of your rotating guests didn't love it. I've listened to Starkville's House of l looked at IMDb, and seen many rankings that have the finale as one of their top episodes of the series. Can you discuss in depth not what you didn't like, but what you think made others
love it so much? Hm? I think that you've been waiting for something for so long that you're like, oh yeah, the Superman right he did the shirt ref and we said Lois on the plane and him right there. There are some good elements in there, right, the always on the small field. That's where we get the title of our show. Right seeing Jonathan. It's so obvious that they were like regret at killing off Jonathan. That
ghost dat is in it so much. And I would say you see the marriage Lewis and Clark, but you don't because because they have a favor launch wedding there and they'll get heady for seven more years. Like that final scene is great. You get to see Aaron Ashmore back and you know, so there's stuff in there. I understand what you be excited. It is an event, you know, I mean, for for as hit or miss as it is with the things I was looking for, it's an event. So
it does feel like a proper series finale. And then of course Le's coming back, Mike Rosman coming back is everything like that really propping up that episode. So I think those are a lot of the reasons that people like it because it kind of is. Although it might not be exactly what you were looking for, it is it does. I mean, it does deliver on the promise of the show to a certain extent, Like it doesn't completely like like you see what I'm saying, like like, yeah, technically he becomes
Superman. Technically we see a costume and technically, yeah, like you fulfill this letter of the law without fulfilling the spirit of the laws. Yeah, And I think that's what people are a lot of they walk away from that like oh yeah small Ville. Right, So all right, I still we talked about the Flash. Yeah. Season finally, you told me what the IMV rating was. I'm like, what, Yeah, I can't believe. Yeah, that's top ten episodes. This in the top ten it is,
I don't top ten. Yeah, rank every episode. Oh wow, coming in at one hundred and fiftieth. You can use one of those Yeah, no, I mean I know you're gonna do it. They have one of those generators online, so you can make it easily. Oh that's true, small episode generator. Yeah, yeah, no, and that's not even joke about being like a lower tier episode. Yeah, so not S tier. No, nothing is S tire. I don't when they when was S tire invented? Like S video VHS it's for Superman VHS said that had the S
video plug? Is E where the S tier comes from? Oh yeah, oh yeah yeah. When did we skip a's and go to S? Well? No, it's like there's like S tier and then underneath this a B C D. I know, but why did S Yeah, you're right, why did it? Because so it's like a letterbox, right, I there's some I wish there was like a six star because there's some things that I ranked five, Like okay, it's a five. There's some things like no, this is like one of the like back to the futures of five star,
right, but not everything is five? See we need see we need like the Midnight Meter like the Midnight Boys, Like how like it's scaled one to ten, right, but you know Midnight Boys, So like elevens and twelves are saved for like game changing like super really good stuff like Oppenheimer was a twelve for them when they did their year thing, like you know, God's Ella minus one was an eleven, like you know, like and so, which I would grate that at twelve so so yeah, and then like
everything else through. That's shout out to the midnight boys. Yeah, so we've got to read you the rating system. Yeah, I know, right on the letter grade scale. So anyway, hopefully that's the answer you're looking for. Yeah, it's all good. So this is way too much, but it should show you how much I love your episodes, which you all the best as you close out your podcast. Thanks Jim, Thanks Jim. Hopefully also the answer you're looking for. This some great questions. That's these
are the kind of I love this kind of stuff to go back. These are kind of questions I'm looking for to generate some conversation. So I appreciate that. I also enjoy your five star reviews and Apple podcasts. I'll get here right there, so keep those coming as well. But thanks Small Vale Season nine on Blu Ray and DVD. Between two worlds, you sent me here to fulfill destiny. Between two lives, t boos and fake loss. One hero must decide his destiny. You have no idea? Which are up
against this? Now? Season nine sores with amazing extras that take you into the heart of the Justice Society of America. Smallville season nine on Blu ray and DVD September seventh. All right, now we have an email from our friend Corey Moore titled Savior. Ohy, top of the morning, do you he goes Hi Zach season nine. It's so good to have a fresh new episode of always hold on to this small ar Hey. There it is fresh new episode and it's my line perfect. We don't plan this out. We
don't plan this out. It just happens. You're the ultimate small Ville rewatch podcast. I like your Friday release schedule and how it matches up with Smallville TV when it was on the CW network. What's two roses? Listen to this? That is that is the two Rosen bombs. Okay, I got it. I just got it as I saw all the rest. That's the rating system for Talkville. I was thinking. I was thinking they were emojis because you had a breadth. That is how talk Fill rings the episode.
It's three to negative three. Okay, it's the negative one's bombs. Yes, okay, there's there's three two. It's a little bit on the nose from exactly Okay, so there's a three a two on one, a heater which is right down in the middle, which they never give out to anything, and then one bomb, two bomb, three bombs. Well, see this is great for people who don't listen to the podcast. And now people
know, what do you think of that rating system? It is different, and I'll say this, every episode is like between one and two and a half. It's never it's never a ball sometimes, but the average average Tom is usually more positive. Michael, I see that. And Ryan is the third guy with him, and he's kind of between them, but more towards the Michael set. Yeah, so am I Ryan? Well technically I'm a Nick one. I mean, yeah, you're Ryan. You don't watch small
Things will change twenty twenty four. Here's your favorite scene, Nick's favorite scene this podcast. It was my favorite. My favorite scene is what they said. It was a fresh new episode. All right, we continue, he goes. First off, let's give a huge top of dugout cheer to MPOU eighty four. He cleared the bases and won our fantasy baseball league. In
the championship game, he beat some team called the Rosenbaum Heaters. Michael's team, Zach and the seah Okay, Zach and the Smallville Crows finished with a strong third place finish. Great job everyone, and I look forward to losing to you next season. Yeah. I am like the Astros because I won first place last year in third place this year. Yeah, and he gives
that three roses. Since we're talking about baseball, I won't talk about how the Houston Astros jumped the Mariners and and the Rangers in the last week of the season to capture the Al West title, resulting with the MS out of the playoffs. Again, I'm not talking about Houston. I'm not bitter. Two bombs on the Savior episode. As you probably remember, season nine is one of my least favorite seasons of Smallville, but I'll take any season of
Smallville over just about any other TV show on this planet. Smallville is the best, and I will be buried holding the complete series on my chest six feet under. It's in my will, well, not yet, but it will when I finally get to it, riding my will. One bomb. Zach, your excitement for season nine is fun listening to and has me thinking I might have been too harsh on the season. I did rank these seasons
about ten years ago. Hey, people change over the years, likes, dislikes, etc. And your perspective in my grayer hair has been giving this episode a higher grade than before. Originally I graded Savior with the C plus, now I'm upgrading it to one rose. You and JJ Hodges had some good things to say about Colum Blue and his Zod pretrayer. Colum Zod really bothered me and how he would deliver his dialogue. But now rewatching since your
thoughts has me changing my opinion, Callum's acting was pretty bad ass. Two roses. I do just like the set heavy season nine. It really missed the cat farm and outside cinematography. The first four seasons were beautiful and was a huge inspiration for the more Farm. I just need to paint my house yellow and changed my barn from white to red haha. One rose. My favorite scene was I don't remember anything about this episode or being there. Heater up, up and away. More roses. Thank you, Corey, very
creative email as usual. Thank you for leaning into the rosen bomb radios there for every paragraph. Not very good, very good. Season nine were released favorites. Hopefully, hopefully I would have changed your my but into this one so have another email from Corey more about Metallo astrozach a brief tangent. Oh, we got one off your nick. Oh my name's here. Yeah, hopefully Nick Rahan Mangdoz is the one reading this. He knows nothing about base.
Hey, I was a band wagner. See this just proves we don't plan this out. That's why it's more fun when it just happens to be in sick. It's an all Texas alc Yeah, I should between the astros Man Bachie versus Baker brave. Yeah I did, Yeah, because you beat us Bruce Bochi versus Dusty Baker. I know a brave all to Vae Bregman, Alvarez, Tucker Brandley Valdez and Fromlander versus I'm Corey Seeger good luck Rangers Astros are gonna sweep. Yeah, let's let's take it. Let's a quick
time out. You want to tell him about your Halloween costume? No, okay, not so. I dressed up as a Texas Ranger because I had a Texas Ranger hat when I went to Bob Parker Allrington when I was a younger man. And I have a Texas Ranger jacket for my mom got it it like Marshall's TJ Max. And I was like, in high school, all right, sure were this Rangers in the al Who cares about them?
You know, there's no they weren't. They weren't a rival then, and so I've had I've warn't it when we played baseball in the past, right, And so for Halloween, I just was like, I'll be lean into this. And then I dressed up as a Texas Ranger because I'm like, this is my worst fear and it came true. So I take full responsibility. Actually I blame Dusty Baker. I love Dusty. He's a great manager, but he's also a terrible manager. So yeah, I blame Kyle Tucker
and Fromber for actually show totally. That is absolutely his fault, complete no show. And I would say Jimmy Panie, but he's got a life pass from single handily winning US the World Series last year. It's like if he doesn't do what he did last year, then they last year would have been like this year. I blame my friend who told me the score in one of the games. I realize they always lose whenever I know what the score is, and I mentioned that and he's like Oh well, then it's is
it bad luck if I tell you there's zero zero right now? So yes, that's the whole point. And then we lost, and I was mad at him. I'm sure there'd be another email here from Corey about when it's all yeah, it's the thing, the thing, right. I just it makes me appreciate twenty twenty two more thanks to see how easily you can lose. But it's awesome. Man, be so frustrated because we it was right there to go back to back. Yes, I mean the Diamondbacks. Come
on, they did their job. That's the Dodgers. True. So the Dodgers spent a billion dollars in the postseason. Uh anyway, now it's matallo. Yeah. Michael Bailey has never watched season seven of Smallville. He needs to turn his Superman card right now. Manage him to the Phantom Zone, have maximum torture him, or at least let mister Mix's pedalig mess with him for a bit. Bailly needs to get on that soon and watch season seven. Ha fii Zach's blur voice is the best. Can't forget about the green
errow and Missouri de voice too. Walk us up with all of these deep voice things today, so some appreciation for the higher pitchus Zark, You and Billy talked about some good stuff that forced me to give Metello a higher breed. Originally I greeted this episode with a C plus. Bailey talked about how Brian Austin Green act did pain really well, and how I agree, but
years ago I was irritated down Mattella was niffing really loudly in pain. Bailey talked about pain and that is probably how someone would active they ever ran over by a car and then their heart was ripped out and replaced with a rock? What do they know of pain? You two talked about Clark's wardrobe and how you like it. I was always bothered by the trench coat, and
I'm still bothered by it. But I can forgive Clark since he's trying to find himself, and I know next season he'll be wearing the red jacket blue shirt twenty four to seven. That's my favorite actual Superman costume. That's my favorite besides the actual Superman costume. Zach can really like how you talked about how Smooville was able to incorporate the phone booth into modern storytelling. It was really cool watching Lowis talk to the blur from the film booth rewatching and listening
to both your thoughts. So I was forced to upgrade this episode to one rose. What does what does one rose mean? Upgrade is Mattella's third episode. My favorite scene is the lowest Blur for sution, Please overlook any the spelling punctuations. Give me a break. I can barely taught my own shoes. That's why I work Cowboy boots up up in a way more force module leaders. That was good, dude, I guess it didn't work out that I read that one. Yeah, well, thanks Corey, I uh,
I appreciate that. And hey, I'm glad you're your turning around on season nine. Yeah, one episode at a time, all right. Next, we have an email from Maurice muh titled end of season eight plus super Lowest TV plus daughter. Good day, Zach and Lance. There we go. Cool. I'm a huge fan of your podcast. I actually came across your podcast while listening slash watching to the Talkville podcast with Tom and Michael. There it is. I decided to tune in and have not been disappointed. You
and Lance are hilariously hilarious. I like that. Lauren is pretty cool and fun to listen to as well. I also like that you have different guests guests on to discuss the show. I'm currently on season five year podcast oh not four uh, we'll watch the series again and trying to catch up with you guys in real time. I'm curious as to what you guys are going to do after you're done with the Smallville series. Are you gonna keep doing uh doing podcasts? We'll get there, y'all. I like listening to you
guys and want to keep following you on your next project. Keep up the fun work, and I hope to meet you guys one day. PS. Justin Verlander was a tiger first, we molded him into a champion. You all now have catch later Maurice Last Reese, well, thanks Reese. I appreciate you finding me again through Talkville Again, guys. Is fantastic to hear that and that people enjoy it. And because you know, I've I've watched, like I've seen people guests on things alike, I'm like that could be
kind of cool, and they go check out. I'm like, wow, I'm gonna watch you more. Of that was disappointing, so that's really cool. I appreciate that and Verlander. If the Astros had finished the job last year when the World Series, I would say slam Dunky goes in the Hall of Fame as an Astro. Yeah, jury still out. I think he still will, especially if he does well these last two years and we went on the championship, which is very possible. But yeah, thanks were just
really for real, Like Zach, I know, Zach knows this. Justin Erlin was like my starting pitcher on my fantasy team for years. It's like like I remember when he first came up. I was like, this is my guy. And then like I, you know, I see that he was dating Kate Upton, and I was like, oh, this guy's really my guy. And so I was very stoked when we got him, and you know, it's it's it's worked out for us. And I was also incredibly ecstatic when we got him again. So yeah, we would not have
made the playoffs this year without him. That's correct. As for uh, we're gonna do when Small was over, We're gonna keep podcasting. Yeah, we have Banksmallville plans post the actual episodes. Always hold on to always hold on to Small. Yeah, Knick's gonna start our podcast where listens to this podcast and comments on it. Always On Heroes though, Yeah, well,
yeah, it's funny. When I started this in twenty sixteen, Heroes had only been off the air for like just a few years, and they had just come back with Heroes Reborn. I was like, all right, it's fresh, but not like so long ago now. Yeah, but we'll see Always on Heroes. Yeah, all right. We have an email from Jake Cleveland titled Lexmis hi Zac. So I just watched Lexmis and Lex turned away from a happy future with Lana because she died in childbirth. Why didn't Lex
just not get her pregnant the second time? Have one kid, then get snipped boom, Lana saved and everyone lives happily ever after. It's a valid point shake. But at the end of at the end of the episode, he says, I want it all, which means he wants to life with the two kids and Lana live heavily ever after. So yeah, and and and all the all the all the Luther power and money. The secrets living happily ever after is power, money and power, because once you have those
two things, you can secure everything else. It's Lex Luther. Quote yeah, Lex Luthor or Mark Zuckerberg. But fill yeah, yeah, I know, right, fill the billionaire there, but I keep forgetting he did play Mark Zuckerber. Mark zucker played Lex. You know what I'm talking? What's his name? They all sound the same? Tell me what's his name? I think of his name? Why did you say that name? We're not only moving on till you come up with His name is in zombie Land Zombie.
Yeah, he's also like a lot older than he looks. That weird magic movie. Oh no, that was a really good n I never saw the sequel either, the sequels actually, Okay, so what's his name? The Hulk is in the sea? What's his name? I don't know his name? Jesse Iceberg? Okay, oh that should be easy to remember because I just have to think of breaking back because it's Jesse and Heisenberg. But Eisenberg, Jesse eisen I don't know why I'd go down that route, but
but yes, uh, solid observation. Jake is always you know, when you do this like peaking the future, try That's the thing. Though you try to prevent the future, you always end up causing it. So that was really I like Lexmis, you know, I don't like. The more time has gone on with the show and like revisited for like holiday seasons and stuff, the more I enjoy it because that as I've talked about, like I didn't even watch the episode first round, like we were on our college
break. I was like, oh, a small episode, whatever, I'll catch it on the DVD. Now it looks like the seven episode and that's how Kevi and I first became friends. And now he's an integral part of the group here. And because he was on the like some episode because it loves Christmas so much so, because it's like the Wholemark Christmas movie, small episode yea with kind of a dark ending. Yeah, thanks Jake. I had another email from Corey Moore about Rabbit Zach oh Man, I bet you
and lanswer full of rage and drooling at the mouth. After that Astros lost to the Rangers. I predicted Houston to sweep. Apparently I'm the one who knows nothing about sports. Never bet against Bruce Bochie. The San Fanster Giants won the World Series every other season with that guy as the manager. I'm picking the Rangers to beat the Phillies. Game seven, versus Game seven,
Philadelphia versus Arizona tonight. The Diamondbacks can't be the Phillies, right They did Lance last year and his Star City Racus just did the Icky shuffle and the league is it is a league leading six to one, and they always on the Fantasy's always on the small FATAUS Football League. What's the secret PDS or just a draft? A genius don styles things? Lance is a genius genius. It's a spirit reference. You haven't seen that episode Nick season four?
Have you seen the prom episode A small gle. I'm pretty sure I borrowed that from you on tape. Yeah, I might have, didn't I borrow the tape for the season finale from you? Yeah? Yeah, because I remember. I remember because I really wanted to fit in that. I was like, oh, I'm gonna record it for it. Wow, well here you are works? Yeah it worked. Hey, I still have that vcr T ZACU miss incredible opportunity don'tunleash rabb it on Friday the thirteenth, but just
had to skip a week after only reviewing two episodes in season nine. I wish I could work two weeks then take a week off. Uh ha, Yeah, I'm on the Superman of Lowest release schedule there. Sorry about that. You and Matthew Roka gave really high grade to the Rabbit episode A minus.
I wasn't expecting that of high grades from you guys. I do agree with you, Zach that the writers are making Lois very pleasant and showing us why Clark can forget about Lana by putting her picture away in the family photo album a big sign in the Clark is moving on to Lowis. The character of Lois is a hard worker, competent, smart, funny, playful, and sexy, every Superman's dream woman. My favorite scene is when Clark catches the lowest arm punch attempts. By the way, the tap Field ripped my
favorite scene bit, I've been picking my favorite scene for years. Tap Field starts up some new podcasts then chooses Ryan's favorite scene at the end of each episode, just saying a little suspicious. Also, they take your sign off always on the Smallville. Who do these two guys Michael and Tom think they are? I grate Rabbit with one rose Yep, I'm ripping their grading system haha, haa up, up and away more bit stealing. Could you imagine
if they've been listening to every single episode here, they am not. I uh, that's the thing, right, So I joined their patreon is always in the small Ville, and then I was on as always on a small Ville. But then when they were reading the patreons, Michael's like, oh, there's a little small let you saw off the podcast with that, yeah, And Tom's like all right, sure, and now he's like, always always remember, always keep the show with your hearts. It took it took
him a while to get it, and now they say it. But now it's unintentional free promotion to me, yes, oh yeah. Literally. The best part is they don't even know it's from the show. They have no idea next time I'm on, if I'm ever on, and might be my last time, we'll see. I'm gonna say, you guys know where that's from, right, it's from your own series. Now they're only gonna find out. They're only going to get until I get the season to the finale?
Rock did you know this? No, we would say this to anyway. How great is that? How great is that I did? I did well? They told me they hey, we took her to think. One of them is like, hey, we took your Catcher's like, you got it, you guys, no problem, you have it. Fine. I gotta bump in from Tom Welling for my podcast, Yeah, which is like we always joke about, Hey, we got it before season gin you got like I get pour season eight, you did clutch Right next, we have
an email from Joseph Boneth titled Lona killed Bizarro in Persona. I'm going through season seven and listening along to the podcasts for the episodes. At the end of Persona, a lot of places the blue crypt night in Bizarro's hand and it blows up. I got excited for another a lot of kill, but it didn't hear it on the tally board. No one discussed the kill. Is it a plus one? Joe Bonnat, let's discuss I I flagged this email for future study, and let's let's take a look. A lot of
kill stands at seven, all right, that's what we have. And if we did not count Bizarro, we gotta think. We gotta think about the seven people she killed. Let's think about this, all right, Let's put our heads. This is a lot of this is the first season. Maybe you don't have to remember when she hung through that guy into a pitchfork. I remember that one. You did remember that, don't you? So that's what That's how she got casted for uh the guy who was creeping and trespassed.
The guy was creeping under it. She like tackles him through a windows. So I counted that as a lot of kill. I don't know how we came up with seven. Frankly, what else does she kill? Did Amy Adams die from? No, that's lowest lane. What I'll talk about a lot of us done in those scenes, her Greenhouse blow up, she was fine, It's okay. I can't I can't remember. I mean, this thing is season four. Oh oh, she killed Jinny Ta killed Jane big Time killed Jane Seymour. That's three people. Oh. I feel like
I don't know. I'm sure we discuss it. I have zero memory. Void the episode with the where they shoot the drugs and see the afterlife. I feel like the guy died from like a saw but no, no, like a chainsaw, but I don't like a surgical saw. But I don't think it was her fault. She was around, Okay, she didn't stop it. I don't know. Joseph, thank you bringing this to my attention. And I will have the research before before we come back after our hiatus
year after Absolute Justice, I will have an updated answer for you. I will do the research. Amazing, I think she shot some people in season eight and then flashback to like but then that Curtity cards are right, George security guard, remember he's still around. Tess says that she died, but he's still He's literally in that episode in that season and then he gets skilled by his zombie and rabbit. Poor run off for George. I don't know
how she killed some people, but still that's a lot. And hey, shout to Matt Trix who came up with this guy because we were on Phoenix together and he suggested, can we have this category? And it's a category I always had fun to make it fun of him for because it was so low. But it wasn't good fun because it's an amazing the fact that that, as Matt put it once, that cheerleader from season once, she's gonna
kill seven people. So I'll have to check the tape on that, because if we didn't, if we didn't say she was all she absolutely did. I remember that we laughed at it when like she hands it to bizarre what did you say? Amazing, amazing stuff. So thanks Joe. We'llow we'll get on that all right. Now we have an email. It's a podcast Telliboard update from Brandon Little Little Hey, Zach, this is Brandon again. I message you after I got through season four of your podcast to let you
know where I was with the tally board. I've just made it through season seven. Wow. And here's the updated list, same age as Clark Kent twenty four times, series finale fifty nine spoilers, spoiler, Billy's A and fancast four. It should be more than that. Always hold on to heroes forty one. This is better happen. We might have to do it. What day is it? Game Time thirty six? What day is it? What time is it? Do these kids go to school? Worse than Pyrotechic
Football Coach nine and Clark Clark spelling game Time nine and Trevor fifteen. Thanks again for putting out a great podcast with stellar guests. I stand with you that Superman is the best hero of them all, and having just had a baby last week, your podcast has been amazing to have on late nights with my kids. One thing I'll say is that I disagree with you on a
couple of points evolving Man of Steel. First, I know you say that Jonathan saying that Clark maybe should have let the kids die was totally on character, which it may be, but if that's how Clark was raised, I fail to see how he could possibly become the totally selfless superhero he's supposed to be. I also disagree with you about Superman being able to kill his enemies,
even if they are so powerful. I think because Superman is so powerful, his complete inability to take the life of totally ruthless enemies is almost kind of a flaw That makes him more interesting, having all those powers and being able to kill anyone he wants, but never doing it. Anyways, thanks again for a great podcast. To all your guests, they're great because you
haven't had a bad one yet. Brandon little Well, Thanks Brandon. Thanks those updated tallied numbers, and keep it at it, keep at it. Be fun to see the final Itally at the end, I'm gonna stick with my I'm gonna stand by my Jonathan inepinion about Man of Steel. But I have come back around to the note killing thing. Small season eight has reminded me that if Clark was gonna have a code World number one be no not
I kill. Also, I've seen in all the other DC movies that Acaman chooses not to kill his enemy multiple times, and I'm like, damn, I was Superman was like that. So uh this fight, I'm with you. I'm with you, Brandon On. You think Jonathan Kean would be like, let him die? Maybe this is maybe it's fine, but it's so it's so maybe it's nuanced. It's not nuance at all. Kevin Costumer is
better than that. And I think it's just so it's so nonchalant and uncaring and yeah, like the Kent's and that do not seem like the people who instill or did instill positive altruistic values into Clark. Look at that Superman exactly again, So it does. Why do you think I don't like it? Why are you like all my ass about, like about being a hater for it? Like when those things add up, I'm asking hater for like saying
bat Fleck is your least favorite Batman and Alcalde episode. That's ridiculous to me. He's in the bottom tiers, in the bottom tier. I can't even look at you, look at Nick you can see me now the side you take these off, the yes, the no, the no killing thing, right, I mean one one doesn't even kill Maxwell Lord in these movies, but we got Superman killing General Odd, right, So it is around and round. I No, I agree that it makes it because he's so proferent
and he could do it. It is an interesting Yeah, it's almost like a flaw of his own, like and call it a flaw, but that makes it that kind of balances out, like that's a week a weakness quote unquote. Right. The villains would certainly see it that way because the problems miss he's well, probably he can do anything. But yeah, but when you you have to find a way not to kill people and to feat your enemy, that's you have to be resourceful, you have to be moral,
you have to be great. Anyway, Yeah, I think that's a and that's even just a storytelling thing. It's it's a superior thing to do. So I have I have kind of come back around on that, honestly, but I still think I think I think the kid's track and that's not the kid's story that it's the traditional one, right, especially him dying as well. The tornado things still bother you the tornado, it's just weird. Well it's it's different, and it's okay with different because to me, what works
is that? Like like because those two things justify each other. Like he tells Clark, I don't know, maybe you should let those kids die, But he himself is willing to die, right because he because he dies in the tornado. So to me, that does work together to get the point across they were making like he's gonna live up to the value. I agree in the consistency that they wrote, Jonathan for I agree with you on that, But do I agree that that's how the kent should be? No?
Fair enough? Well, guess what d it is? All right? Got an email from Corey Moore Echo Echo Echo, Are we talking about the new Marvel show? Not yet? Always on Echo coming soon from Always hold on to the arrow right? Are you guys gonna cover that? This? Like? Is it us or you? Or or us? Like? Is it us or us? This is us? I did meet her though she's she was cool, cool Zach. I recently went to a Stayle seahawk gamers the
Cleveland Browns. Brown's Brown Seahawks were wearing their nineteen eighties jersey in the standing was so loud, but you're still ringing, ringing, ringing. So also been a Texas sized month with the Rangers beating the Diamondbacks to win the World Series, World Series, World Series. He's writing this, by the way, before that, how do the Rangers beat the Astros? Astros? Because
we couldn't win a game at Homeme. Yeah, I'm at this. Have Nick Ryan Mendoza say this basketball Okay, Okay, I actually know, I actually know Victor webbin Yama. Right, why don't you take it take over the event? No? Well, no, I don't want to say. Is webin Yama, webin Yama, webn Yama? How do you know him? Well, well, it's it's a dumb reasoning because he has a really cool name and it's the Spurs, right, that's correct. Yeah. And I went to a concert and they were wearing the jersey and I was like,
oh cool, And then I went to look it up. It's like, oh he's really well, you just got lucky. What is Victor's like distinguishing trade that? I don't know. I just know I only learned society baseball player from France, France because it's because he's a giant. He's like seven foot really, like seven foot five. That's crazy. It's nuts, isn't that who? We wanted to try and draft Rockets, right, we
tried, but we didn't. We didn't lose enough. Well, it was the lottery because people people were convinced that did they tank to get a Keem Rockets? Yeah? No, people accused us of that though, right, they do. But it didn't work out that well. They should have gotten Jordan Yeah, no, right, we could have gotten Jordan Drexler in I know, I know. How sick would that have been? Dream teeth? Is that's a dream team? Didn't we have a dream team? We had
back to back, which is the only championships to count. I remember those as doesn't count if you don't win to in a row. I remember trying to play basketball and I was not good at it, and so I gave up that hope. Thanks y m c a hm hm. The Echo episode was all right, but wow, wait until the next episode. You're in for a treat. To quote my good friend at Rosenbaum, No, I actually like quite like the Echo episode. It had a lot of nice moments
between Lewis and Clark. I thought it was really funny how excited lowis god By going to the Monster Truck rally and her truck early outfit was incredible. She cuts Lee's half a plaid shirt, Daisy Duke shorts and cowgirl boots. Wowser's speaking for the farmers out there. That's every cow I read Nick Kill Bailey and hill Jack's dream girl. Haha, Zach, you must go to a Matter truck rally. It's a great time and I highly recommend you experienced
it at least once. It's full of loud truck noises, beer and diesel smoke filling up the stadium. That sounds fantastic. Also, you notice the lowest writing left handed, and the series Lex also writes left handed, and I've also wondered is he really left handed or is he just doing that for the camera angle, et cetera. Oh good call. But actors are creative types, and usually those people right with their left hand. I'm right handed.
Echo gets one rose for me. And my favorite scenes when Clark catches Lewis and reads her mind, saying hell, little sailor. It's pretty good. Yeah, up, up and away. More echoes, echoes, echoes. All right. Next, we have an email from brandon little title Small town Living. Hey, is that glad you're liking the tally board I've been
working on for your podcast. I know you're well into the metropolis hears on the show, but if you ever have questions about real small towel living like what they tried to portray on the show, just shoot me an email or Facebook message. I know you grew up in Houston, but I grew up in a very small farming town, So if you ever need to know anything about that life, feel free to ask me anytime. Brand basketball with jeans. Yeah, I think that's the main question we want to know. However,
Oh I did? I shot this this over to Zach, But like there's a scene from the HBO show Winning Time, you know about the Lakers in the eighties and when they introduced Larry Bird. He shows up to the gym like like to like like you know, when he's a rookie with the Celtics and he's in jeans and like his farmer shirt and just busting him on the court, and so like I just sent it to him. He's like, well, I guess people too. I can't argue with that, but
that works for Larry Bird though. Because like, I love this meme of like him and a tractor, and it's like, imagine you're like an NBA player in the eighties and you see this dude pull up and like he's like it's like Larry Bird looking like a farmer. He's like knowing he's going to drop thirty on your head that day. It's like that had to be demoralized in the seventies was a different sign. Yeah, I know, right, No, thanks, thanks and we'll even and I will be in touch about
that. So this gave it the same brand who's doing the talent word for us. I said, So I'm glad he's feeling the love because I've posted on the social media as well. All right, and now we have an email from Kathy Beard More enjoying a podcast. Hizac started listening to your podcast after Talkville started, and you were on only started a smallville a few years ago. I'm seventy seven. I don't really have friends to talk about it. I really really like your commentary. I jump around a bit, but
I don't see season ten. Did you stop or is it on another site? Take care hope is hope all is well with you and your friends? Kathy. First of all, thanks Kathy seventy seven. So I really appreciate you listening to talk to you. Yeah, I wonder if she's listening on an iPhone or yet. What that's our desktop. That's awesome. That's awesome. Must be a big small fan. Yeah, and see people come you never know. Yeah, you all walks of life and that's just so awesome
to hear from. So yeah, thank you so much for writing in, Kathy. And I, uh, I want to tell you that we're not on season ten yet, so you haven't missed anything. We were in the middle of season nine, so you're gonna see keep keep seeing the episodes coming out as they do. So uh, and let us know what you think, Kathy's just stay in touch, appreciate it. Well, guys, I think that's a good time to put a
