#107: The Bitcoin Debate (w/ Doomberg)

This episode we have returning guest back to the show, Doomberg. This is an energy podcast but Bitcoin is energy backed money and as some of you may be aware, is a topic that is one of my favorites to cover. 

The Doomberg team has written numerous pieces criticizing Bitcoin and Crypto broadly) and we have had a few back-and-forth exchanges on Twitter about the topic.  

After the latest piece on Bitcoin (https://doomberg.substack.com/p/a-spot-of-bother-for-bitcoin?s=r) Doomberg reached out to set up a time to come on the podcast to discuss. 

We have a lot of common ground in our viewpoints, but some key differences in opinion. We both felt it would be productive to have a nuanced discussion on the topic for the listeners. 

This episode we have a robust discussion about Bitcoin and our definition of money. We dive into arguments on if Bitcoin is a Ponzi Scheme (or the next world reserve currency).  We talk about the energy usage and the other criticisms around stablecoins that Doomberg has covered in their substack pieces. Lastly, we try to find common ground on some things that we might agree with each other on Bitcoin.
