New Wave - From Dreaming to Making It Happen

Allison takes the lead on this week’s episode to share all the behind-the-scenes about her small business. New Wave is a unique retail concept hidden on the second floor in Omaha, Nebraska that opened in June 2020. As the store comes up on one year of business, Allison thought this was the perfect time to reflect on what it has been like owning a store in the midst of a particularly uncertain year.

The episode starts off with the backstory of how New Wave came to be, the idea behind the brand, and all the planning and research that went into opening a store. She dives into the real stuff that business owners usually avoid talking about - failures, low points, mental health, balancing work and personal life, finances, and how to get through it all.

To counter that, she also shares the highlights, the rewards, advice for people who are interested in doing something similar, and the beauty around getting to live out a dream.

At the end of the episode, it wraps up with a Q&A session from New Wave Instagram followers who submitted questions.
