Many people say they find alpacas calming to be around - I agree!
So why is that? They are inquisitive, seem to like being around safe people and know how to watch you while looking like they are ignoring you. Having eyes on the side of their heads helps but in the end I think they are just magical creatures to be around and transfer their calmness to people in their vicinity.
