Well, you know, we at the end of the day, this is all entertainment, you know, that's what this is. We're not selling drugs. We're not We're not in the underworld. So there's some guidelines and rules to the business that we're in. And you know, at the end of the day, we got families, we got kids and stuff like that. So sometime we can get out of line, man, you know, and me.

Personally, you know, I can get out of line a little bit.

Well, I said some stuff that I didn't some stuff I shouldn't have said. Some of the stuff was good, it was funny.

But then when I went back and looked at it, I said, yeah, I kind of crossed the line a little bit.

But when you grow.

Across the line, you're already there. So I just didn't expect. I just didn't expect the brother to get so mad about it, you know. And then, like I said on the on the podcast, I said, I said, a lot of people have been talking about it. I mean, I seen it on Saturday Night Live. I seen a lot of Corey Holk on different ones. I just was wondering, why, you know what I mean, you got singled out that he and then you know, he told me, he was like, you know what, Mike, I'm gonna be honest with you.

It was because it was you, he said, because guess what the fuck with you?

These people out here, they're damn to do what you tell him to do. So when he said that, I said, damn, you're right man. You I didn't look at it that way first, And you know, it just brought some light to me, man, And you know, I felt bad about it, and I wanted to meet up with him and personally look him in the face and tell him that I was sorry because I've been I've been vesting with people and talk about him since I was a kid.

You know what i mean. I'm talking about I hold my breath when I was.

A kid and say I'm about to do it, and I'll talk about the bully. I talked about the dude that shoot everybody and all that and say something to them that don't nobody say, man, look at them shoes and bothering.

The Upshaws Man was an idea that I thought of.

The show was based out of this home, out of my hometown, Indianapolis.

And I thought of the idea, and I said, man, you know, who could I get to be in this with me? And I and I went down the list. I thought about Tiffany Hatish, I thought about Jesse Larry's. I thought about all these different ones, and I said, well, if I want to do a Sam from the Son or George Jefferson type show, I need that type of comedian. So I thought of Wanda Sykes Man my producing partners.

This, nigga. Hey Mike, I said, Yah, but Wanda, I got an idea.

I want to do it. Yeah.

She said, go ahead, tell me what it is. And I told her. She said, oh, she said, let me think about it.

I'm gonna go to my people and and she went to her people and thought about it, and.

They liked it. They liked it. We went to Netflix.

We sold it, and we went and got Kim.

Fields, who was a great actress that been in Facts of Life and Living Single Favorite. Oh man, we got we got some characters on the show, man, You know what I mean? This last season we've had everybody, we've had Fraise on Love on the show, and we've got a lot of people people. Man, I was blessed to be able to get I've been trying to get a TV show my whole career, so you know how many times I've been told no, and to be able to get one now, man, it's a blessing.

The current state of comedy right now.

What you think about it with the cancel culture and everybody being so sensitive to jokes and things like that, what's your opinion on it?

Well, you know, I think as a comedian, you really gotta you got a weigh your odds.

You know you got.

You got one level of it.

That makes sense. Every level of it makes sense. But you got a.

Group of guys over here.

That are You think about Dave Chapelle, you think about Kat Williams, you think about guys like Corey Hoker. These dudes are fearless, man. These dudes ain't. They ain't thinking like I'm thinking. See, I'm over there. They over there saying everything I want to say. But I can't mess my money up because I got a different I know how to act in a movie.

I know how to yeah, I know how to do TV. I know how to produce.

So I'm over there looking at trying to protect that. They don't have nothing to do with that. Now, if I take that lane right there, it might cut that off because you.
