This life was all I ever wanted. I'm not leaving, not yet. I was hoping you can say that you gotta hit the streets, make some money, maybe like us, let's destroyed, maybe like Captain by all up, get showtime free at showtime dot com. My brother Jack got back. Let's sto all stow just getting started, baby, just getting started. Man, Welcome back to a special COVID nineteen satellite edition of All the Smoke When my brother stat five. Good to see my brother was happening. Good to be seen. And man,

we gotta special guests. Man, this is an honor. Uh Man. We grew up blizing this guy, one of them, the greatest to ever do it, one of the most dangerous men in the world ever to touch a football. Um Dion Sanders, Man, thank you for your time, Thank you for joining us. Man. Please, it's so funny. Man, I just feel like I know y'all. You know how you just some brothers out there. You never really got down with them, but you know him know your old type of brothers man that you do like I would have

been right on in there with y'all. I might not have done everything y'all did right there with yall, man, I love for y'all jokers, man, and we appreciate same same crop. Yeah, same thing, thank you. I mean we're in a we're in a time that we've never seen before. You know, we're in this this pandemic right now. How are you in the family holding it down? Being in

the house a long thing? Boys all day every day. See, I got a city squag, but really, man, I'm a country boy, so I'm not here on you know acreage, hundreds of acres, man. I got the late right here, the gym back here, you know, the basketball court. I can't even get up right now because my sons was whooping all of them, and we had some of the other fellas over and you know, you can only talk

jumping to me for so long, you know. And then I got to get out there and try to put it down my back and went out halfway through the first game, and I couldn't quit. So I couldn't quit. I had to fight it out then, I want to. I ain't got up since last frid. I've been in the bed since then. It ain't been able to work out. A man, younger Song's gonna walk in my room too to night talking about you know what, Dad, I lost a lot of respect for you. I blocked your shot.

I blocked your shot twice. You ain't give me nothing's like man, go with that boy dropped around. So I've heard right now, I've heard right now. Yeah. But I love it man, because I'm I'm you know, just like you guys. This is one thing I married about amongst many things that I married about. You guys. You guys are fathers first man, and I love it so just having my son's around it. But kids, man, I love this time. I'm not happy but what it's done to

our country, But I love this time absolutely. Uh speaking of father's Uh, like myself, you coach your son and to me, I mean to me, you know, being able to play fifteen years in professional sports, I still never got the feeling that I got seeing my my son's excel and be happy and love what they're doing in sports.

Coaching them gave me a special appreciation. And the feeling is that similar with you and here, before you start dealing, I want to get you all credit too, because like with me, I have two boys too, and my boy, my my younger son, want me to be more of his homeboy. He don't want me to be more of a teacher, Solf. So I gotta I gotta give you props to having that you ain't, Matt, but to having that relationship with your sons put them to able to be able to take advice and be coached by y'all.

My brother, my son just want me to be his homeboy. You don't want me to tell him nothing about basketball. You know what those stings you probably you probably like Joe Jackson or j j Evins when it comes to you. Probably that you know, that's probably why. And I know Matt got a little bit of that in and see I'm gonna little bit of ball. Yeah, I go hard on him. I go hard. We were just telling stories on the thing. I'm not laughing to you all. And this is a basketball story. I was coaching my kids

in basketball and you're doing My youngest boy. I was so mad. I think he was by seven eight years old. He played like garbage, so bad. I saw this joke in the backseat of the car. Man, I'm driving home, this joke of schlid in the middle, not on the side. I'm looking through the riverview, I said, man, take off the during uniball, you don't do that. I made a ride home with some drolls. I go because I go hard like that. Now I've grown and matured the little

more so football wise, I'm a little more calm. And I coach offense because all my life I was a deep as the back, so I studied offense, and so my mind intellectually is an offensive mine. So I coached him on offense, and now I can mess with Shallow a little bit on defense. But Shallow shallows that one kid that's gonna always have you on your knees. Man, we all had that one man. Shallows that one man.

Talk to us a little bit about how did you you told us you won what three state state championships in the row, and uh that they had moved y'all from the lady seat, kickings out the whole league. Try try to say they weren't going to accept our application. I don't don't accept someone's application to be in the league. So that's a sleep way of saying, we're not gonna let this brother. We're full straight state titles with his kids, you know, and we constantly putting kids into college and

getting them to the next level. So now we're independent and we got to travel all over the country to play. But I love it. Man. I'm gonna coach college football probably next year. I don't know, yeah, probably next year. Getting ahead of myself because I don't want none of my kids on our team, the Panic and they parish the Panic coach Prime still gonna be there, y'all know, y'all watching all the I'm gonna be there next year, ye special, Yeah, coaching your kids. Last, talk to us

a little man. I love it, man. Talk to us a little bit about the current climate um of the NFL and and your particular thoughts on Tom Brady, Uh going to Tampa Bay. He's one of those guys you think that you know, he's in that uniform for life, and that's just what it is, and it didn't end up that way. Well, the thing about it, we we all have been journeyman, all three of us, and we we understand that sometimes it's just time to go. And as bad as we wanted to see him in up

with New England, it was just that time. You can't vote, they'll check, you can't fault craft, you can't fault Tom. Sometimes it's just just that time. And Tom and I know him personally, man, and he keeps in contact with a short because it's a quarterback. But Tom is a great guy, and I think it's this time in life where he wants to do the challenge. We men thrive on challenges. Man. You put a challenge in front of a dog and he's gonna hunt. And John needs a challenge.

And going to Tampa Bay taking them from one of the doormats of our game to to be those dogs that he assumes that he's gonna make them come about. I love it, and it just energetics came. You got four really good quarterbacks, man, and that uh, that NFC south Man. And I can't out wait to see what he does because I wouldn't better get Tom Brady on anything. I'd never better get tough bread. I wouldn't better get something. I kind of look at it like this, Dion. I

kind of like this Prime. He doing the same kind of same thing Lebron did. Like Lebron is so great, he had to challenge himself. I'm gonna go back to Cleveland. I'm gonna tryna try to be one of Cleveland. Then I'm gonna go to l and trying to get l a back like when you're that good and I know you know, because you one of the greats, you gotta find different ways to challenge yourself. You you do, and you playing against yourself, You're playing against your own ghosts.

He ain't playing against nobody else in the league of no quarterbacks to formally playing the game. He's man against himself. Kid. I taught what I do because the expectations for Tom Brady and when he touches the field, it elevates everything, man, and I love and I'm biased. I think we have the best professional game that is. I know y'all the NBA,

but I feel like we got the best game. And in this climate, I love what's going on right now, especially with everything being down right now because of this virus. The all of the trades, all of the free agency is keeping us the lie because we were have thoseparts. Yeah. Yeah, I'm just glad this ain't happened, man in football season, boyd, I don't want to happen period. But I'm so happy this is this bull drunk ain't going down because I mean, this is the time right now, this is you know,

you get March Madness is coming to a championship. Point right now. Uh, you're revving up for the NBA playoffs. Baseball is getting going. Like to know that, like we don't have nothing, no kind of sports to turn the watch. Is crazy, It's crazy. Oh I'll tell you what. I cannot wait to us over because I want to see the divorce rate. I want to pregnancy. I want to see the craft statistics. All the csitions are going through the rules. I guarantee you see a lot of these parents.

Now you see how bad little man man is. Now you've been tripping dot call that teacher back. Now you're getting a chance to deal with little man man. Shout out to the teachers. Man, we're just talking about that. Man. These these parents are going crazy now with these are bad kids. Man, exciting. Let me tell you something. You spent that real online the other day. You you know

what I'm talking about. You know what I'm talking about. Yeah, So, man, don't please don't let them stop you from putting your foot on the gas and and dispensing the truth. Man, because a lot of brothers see, we know because we've been there, matt Us, and we go through it many we have been there. We've been there. Um, I know

I want to pivot a little bit. I know you, he's you mentor him so to speak, Uh, Antonio Brown, and kind of give him a little guidance and experience and tell me what that relationship is like and where you think he is and if you feel like he has a possibly another chance to play. He's like the prodigal son to me, Man, that's that's my son. That that I love him to life. And uh, I feel like, uh, he's gonna play again at some point. I think he had to to to go up that hill and look

and see that. Uh you didn't get up there about yourself. He had to be humble little bit and and he is. And now he's getting back you, back to the family, back to the kids, back to the work, it back to everything that got you where um you once were. And he's focused. Man, he's refocused. I just spoke to him, I think a couple of days ago, and he just wants another opportunity to get into game. It ain't about no money, ain't about the fame, ain't about the fortune. See,

this man truly loves the game. And I hope to God that he gets another opportunity to play. I foresee him getting enough opportunity to play because I know he got some legalities he gotta deal with, But once he gets past that, I can't wait to see him. I love un the dog story, man, I do do all of us. Man, We've all taken a left. Man. Ain't nobody watching this broadcast, on this broadcast on stage right. We all have took a left somewhere in life. Man, So we just gotta get back right. And I think

he's gonna get back right. When it comes to talent. I can't go ahead. I can't. I can't relate. I can't.

I really, I tell people this all the time. It's hard for me to even compensate or relate to somebody who ain't never been through nothing, because I know, at the end of the day, the things that I've been through before I even got to the NBA made me and gave me the strength and the knowledge to be able to make it through the ups and downs at the NBA, not being drafted, not really giving a fad chance in front, then going through my two incidents off

the court. So I totally can relate eight to everything he's going through because we are not perfect and as athletes, especially as great as as as a B is, people expect you to go through everything perfect, you know what, They expect you to be perfect. So I salute a B on living his living his trial and tribulations on the internet for everybody to see, but also bouncing back for him it and taking responsibility everything he'd been through. Our salute him. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I just want him

to get another opportunity to finish strong man. I think we all deserves. To put a period in exclamation mark, we all deserve. And I think I think you touched on it. I think it's a situation where we're the one percent, you know, and now more than ever, our lives are a fishbowl. So guys have probably gone through similar, you know, situations along their career, but it just wasn't

for the world to see. You Granted, he put most of it out there, but so at the same time, so I think, like you said, I think he's humbled itself. He kind of realized how much he loves football. And when we talk about talent, you can't argue with talented receiver in the game, you know what I mean, the game. We hope they he does get another chance, and I'd love to see that. He's doing right by the family and kids, because like we said, we're all fathers here

and and that's what's first and foremost. You gotta be right, you know, you're you're outside life. I mean, obviously we deal with a lot of distractions, but for you to be the best year, your outside life has to be tight and secure down and you you'll be able to see that in your performance in your life as a whole. So we definitely hope that he can find his footing and get through the legal trouble, you know, not to

make any excuse for him. Hopefully you can do that legal trouble the right way and like you said, get a chance to go out because he has all time great type talent. Hey man, I've never made a public success with that private struggles. I've never seen at all.

And I wanted to touch on this too because, like what they are just talking about when I was about the video, I made it the day a lot of time as black men, to what people do understand, we get to this success and a lot of us grow up without a father in the household, so a lot of stuff as far as raising raising kids, dealing with the money, dealing with the success. We have to learn this ship on our own, and you have to learn

from experience. You have to learn about sucking up. So just because we made it, just because we make it and make all this money, you see all these houses and stuff. We've been through a lot and we had a lot of fucking up. We made a lot of mistakes to get to where we have. So people don't understand, especially not having a father, you got to learn a lot of stuff as you go through life. And you know, a lot of people be in that situation. M man, a fool broke is gonna be a fool. Rich people

don't understand. Uh, you know, drunk broke is gonna be there, holy rich, you know, and and it keeps on going and to you mature and able to play that role. Man. So not until we probably start kissing thirty of the mid thirties that we really started to look at the real picture and get that thing right. Man. So the young brother has time, and I just hate that we just want to stone people, man and crucified people not understand. Hey, man, get a brother's chance. But he's gonna come back. He's

gonna be all right. He's just going through the store right now. Everybody goes through the store and he just gotta keep going. And you got the best quarterback of the league vouching for you. How can you not be a great? Yeah? Yeah, because he saw his heart. See, I know his hard and the things that he's done is not who he is, the things that he's done. And I love that part about the young fellow man.

Talk to us a little bit about your your your impact on the game that I think still exists today because you were the flies must I mean outside of your game, you were flying before flying was flying sports with the jewel glasses. You had the motherfucking Jerry curl dripped like my pops had wet but it was dry, but it was dry. I put off the wet look, but the dry but it was drying. Was getting Nexus

product called Nexus. Hey, let me tell y'allself. Yeah, I'm gonna tell y'all something that I never told nobody then this this is first cause I love y'all. You You you remember the headband and I used to go around. It wasn't intended to be war running it. It was no no. I used to wear it on the head like y'all do. The NBA because the girls juice. I'm not lying, and then put out, put the helmet on and mess around. It slipped down to the neck and

it just became fashionable. Let me just roll with you. That's he That's how that happened. I'm not lying, that's how. That's how the hair Mary was more running. Nick. I never told nobody else that last. You are the first one to getting that truth. My dad, my dad had a dripper. My dad used to have the tale around his neck so the ship didn't get on his clothes. So should I. That's what I thought. Drift, no dog,

no dog. I was offended when Coming to America came out and they was the is on the couch man. I was offended by that. Man. I was offended by that movie. That really was anybody with the colonel back then talking about you, huh but talk. But you know what, man, I'm a Florida I'm a Florida po man. And you know we we have swag. We haven't talking to Jo you know. And but the but the lot of it, oh man, And y'all ain't gonna believe this when I

tell you, but it's the one true. I never talked drunk on the field, man, I never spoke to my opponents. I never tell it. Anybody ever played, never dog. I spent games to the medium, Like I said, you know what, I'm the best texts peanut, butter and jelly. I'm miss you know you kick it to me. You're gonna get You're gonna hear the band man in a minute. You keep messing. I wouldn't say stuff like that. I never

talked to my opponents, man, never in my life. But I had the mantra of I talked drunk call it, and I never did. So where is it coming? Is? That's not true about you happening out the limo and running the fold where the folks it's always it's always a little true to everyone? Was literally I did? I did. I did catch the rabbit that day. I ran my butt off, But I didn't leave in the rabbit. I ain't leaving the limo that day. I went. I did what everybody else did. It was normal, but I left

right out. I ran because it was what. Am I gonna lay there and put two twenty five and do that? I ain't nobody laying across my arms and no games bench press, and I ain't no high jump. I'm not high jumping for I ain't gotta high jumping no game, so I wasn't doing none of the foolish stuff had to comeback. I just wanted to run my part because I was the number one coming out in my position. So why would I risk that a chance that I ain't had nothing to prove of, no comback. I just

wanted to put it in work. No, I actually I want to sue because I went for business. I wouldn't. I want enough, I want enough suited and boot it. But I wanted to suits and booted man. So I went for business. And I remember when I was in the big room with all the players. Dude, somebody from the league came over to me. He's excuse me, sir, there are no agents, a lot of inside. I said, I'm a player. I say I'm a player. I'm a

player to the combat man, Yeah, hey play up. I want to sue to the com back man, I went for business. You played for both of our favorite teams. I think, did you win a championship with Dallas? Yeah? Yeah, we won one with To let them know, Jack is a Dallas fan, I'm a Niner fan. What was it

like playing in those times? You played with too great, I mean Aikman, Emmett, Michael Irvin, and you went over with Steve and Jerry John talked to us, Well, my fuinnest place to ever played was the that was home. You know, with somebody draft you, that's that's your home, that's your that's your blood. Man, Like Atlanta drafted me. So I'm forever in debt. And I loved Atlanta, but they wasn't. Uh. They didn't have the expectation of winning. And I was a winner and I wanted to win.

So when I was a free agent, ain't even offer me. Man, they just let it ride out. So I ended up um getting ready to go to Miami. I was getting ready to go to mind because I went on a little tour. It's like a little bit and tool. Everybody was trying to put it to see who's gonna get prime and uh. I remember getting ready to go to the Dolphins. I even had Dolphins cleats made like like Nike had made my Dolphins cleats, and they said where you going, And I'm going over to Man, I'm gonna

do the dog. One thing I would have met with Eddie de barnlow Man and he said, you want to do this. I said, yeah, yeah, I want to do it. So we even had a handshake agreement. I got on the plane and went back before I landed. Before I landed, I think bet so I hit the dolphins with about three thirty yards passes. So they was blowing my phone up. Now they want to do the deal. Now they want to come up with the money. But I was always

been a man of my word. If I said, it's gonna be that, So I had already gave Eddie my word. So I went to San Francisco. Man, and I remember the first day practice going in there, me with the head coaches, like we have no individuals on the team. You know, you got to coincide with what everybody else done. Like it kind of offended me because you have you haven't done your homework. You would expect to get prime. And I introduce you to the on I'm trying to

show you who I really am. Your prime just comes out on Sundays. Man, that's just my marketing. That's just that's just what I did to get my paper. So man, I go out on the practice field. Jay got on red tights. Rinking Water's got no black tights. This on a kid, and that I said, well, I thought we was a team. I thought we were a team. I thought everybody did the same thing. So that kind of

wrote me the wrong way. Man. But we put in some work that year and we won the super Bowl, and that was one of the best years individually I think I've ever had, and I loved it. But I just was empty, man, I was empty as we won the Super Bowl. Man, I would write home, first one out in the locker room, first one in the hotel room. Ain't even go out club, ain't even go kick it. I'm just sitting on managing my bed, like dang, that

ain't that Ain't what I thought it was. I knew right then I needed the challenge, man, So I needed a challenge. So then that's why that took me to Dallas. I wanted to go prove I could get you all there. Now I'm gonna go get you all back then. I wanted to prove that. Did you thank him for that? Jack? I, Man, I'm going to thank him now. I appreciate it because I've been adopting a cowboy fast as a baby. But people blow up to San Francisco. I think you played

with somebody from my hometown name Tim mccayo. Hey, let me tell you something that it was in Atlanta. In Atlanta, you played it yea with Tim's crazy Tim crazy man. I ain't seen this. I ain't seen this fool. I ain't seen this fool since since we played. Tim was a trip man. I remember a trip. I remember your man still. I remember man playing with his cat and we had a great Yeah. I think I had like

seven picks. He made it. Hats man has six and every time he picked it he brought I used to say, Man, when he played black jack on the way you win, should get twenty one. You get that ball. The twenty one is a good things happened every time people got to pick. They got at the twenty one and good things happened. He can pick it, run away across the feeling pitch for the ball and we house that day. But Tim Man, I remember I was trying to blow him up so he could make the Pro Bowl with

your boy. And we was on the interview and that they said, what you like about Tim game? Tim's game? I said, what Tim does this? He does this, Tim does this? They said, what Tim, what you like about prime game? He's like, well, he ain't better than me, don't almost swum doing the interview. I'm not lying, man, Like this dude flipped out on me. Man, I could not believe that. Man, Yeah, I ain't. I ain't ever met him. And I heard a lot of stories just

like that about him. I know, I brothers and everybody, but he from my hometow but I heard the same type of stories about it. Man. Yeah, Man, he had a little yellow spirit in the man with You don't know why, you know, it was all good, but that that's what was. It was a trip. Who was uh? Who was your favorite matchup? Who was the one man? Man? You know Jerry j right, Michael Irving all of them? Man, because I was I was coming to see him. You know,

it won't that it went back then. We we we went to see the main dog, the dog on dog, the dogs on dog, like like it used to be back in the day of the NBA Dog Go the dog. Yeah, And I was like it now, like LaRod, I want to see you with Kauai. You know, I like, I like to see I want to see dog on dog. That's what you selling me on TV. I want to see that. And it was me and Jerry got down me and make got down. Now they selling me dreams and I don't want to get to see it. Don't

sell me to dream. I want you to get Mike put in work with everybody. Okay, you were seeing, you were sending the bulls. You was gonna see Mike, You was gonna see Kobe. You know you was gonna see the dogs, dogs on dog. It's a little different game. Now you gotta understand and see my favorite for his basketball fellas, I got the nickname trap from basketball. Please tell me about That's how that happened. You talking about that girl. That girl looked wet with a dry driven

off down the coat. I say about with bouncing hey, twenty four point six before they ain't been in the freeze. They would freeze, And I prid you know you sound like like your boy man man Shan. I saw that episode chatting too big first of all, to be talking about he got buckets like that, shanty, ain't nobody You ain't ever seen nobody that big like that. I was All State at twenty four point six game and the threes were not implemented. So I tell myself, if the

threes are implemented that might have been thirty foe. I had seventeen dunks. You know, I counted the dunks. I self team dunks as well count And I was all state, I kind of. I was on state though, All state football, all state basketball, and I got drafted better reds in baseball. Man, But basketball was it for me. That's what I loved. My high school coach told me later on he hit every letter I got because he didn't want me to pursue bad But I love basketball. Oh, I love basketball.

That was it. Man. Every every home I've had, I've had a basketball court in Interesting, Interesting, So I love I loved high school. When you when you used to do punchs and kickoffs the whole state and standing up, thank you're taking it back every time. No I played quarterback. Man, I played quarterback. Man. I was a buck fifth in high school, so you weren't return to No. No, I played quarterback. I returned punch probably probably my sophomore year.

But in the last two years I was quarterback and safety. I played both ways. Never came out the field, but no, Man, I didn't. Uh I didn't return the reason I started returning. But in Florida, state. Not to you, dog in Florida state. Like specialty is everything. Like if you're defensive player, you play defensive special teams offense you playoffs were lined up to f the state with some tories. Back then the blocking kicks like punt blocks everything. So we had a

long land. They had a map laid out, I mean a real map, thick, like a look like a little ballet or gym. Man and the dudes posed to jump. Layout the part of kick the ball. You try to block it and layout flat. And that's how you was a punt block. The dude right before me, Dog, I'm not lying. He kicked the ball man. The dude mr the ball. The punter kicked him in the chin, split his chin wide open, blood everywhere, and I'm next. I look at this boy job, I said, cool, look at man.

I'm gonna go back down and do my thing. All right, I'm pretty good at this and get the ball to him. I'm pretty good at this going back there, I'm pretty good at death. Rocking came depart returning, Dog, somebody had the rest is history and the lay that dude man, that dude got back stitches man split his chein wilde over you. I just saw that. I'm good. I'm gonna go back here, coach. I'm gonna go back here and

handed it. And the rest is any residents, anybody that you can admit or you remember that busted your ass. I wun't know busting draft man, No, not Jerry. Jerry and mac Irvan made me really work. I had to be on my game. I had to be on my game. Men. Jerry had some battles. You know, we had some real battles because you know, the ball coming to him at least ten and I gotta win. I gotta win. I

gotta win at least six of those. I can't. You know, you can't break even with Jerry, right, you can't do that. You gotta win. So we had some real battles, but it wasn't no and anybody who watching this right now, you ain't got no memory or somebody getting the best of friend he got them. Ain't nothing like that. It ain't it ain't no videos, ain't no footage. Said still, I was so I was so ana like that. I didn't play that poor drunk. I ain't play it. I

didn't play that. The Provols. We went to the Provols and you know he's supposed to take it easy. I'm not taking it easy because if you get me over here, you're gonna think you could get me back over there. I'm not doing it. So I'm gonna handle you here because I don't want you to have that middle edge and want to in the world. I wasn't gonna let it happen. And I practiced like it was a game at all times. Man, you got you got an old

saying that all that I held onto you. The first person I heard said, you look good, you play good. They pay good, look good, you feel good, You feel good, your playgood, you play good, day, pay good, you live goods just back in the day. And I said, the play, don't care who's making a play, don't care who make it? Be me? And what if I remember one time the slap box and match you have on Andre Rising talk to us about that. It was slap boxing the ship

out of each other. Man, let me tell you something, that's one of the most disapporting times in my career. It really is. The reason is because I love that brother with all my heart, like that was my teammate and that was my dog. And the reason all that's come about is because I left him. I left him. That that's how it all started. I left, and it wasn't no a dog, I'm getting ready to go. I'm getting ready leave to go to Frisco. I'm out. It

wasn't nothing like that. They didn't even offer me a contract. And you got to understand, I was a baseball player too, So time football was over, I'm gone. You know. I had two weeks after the Pro Bowl, the Pro Bowl used. It was the first week in the February. I got two weeks. Now I've been spraying, trading in baseball. So I'm out. So it ain't no bye, I see you later and all that. I'm out doing my other thing. So when I left, it wasn't no time to aid

my brother. You know, I'm out. I'm about to go do this old thing. And that was a rival. San Francisco was a rival of ours. And when I laft it heard him and instead of us talking about it like men, Andre started talking through the press and a couple of the teammates started talking through the media. So now now you're trying me. So now I'm feeling a certain kind of way. Instead of us talking, I'm like, all right, all right now. You know, I know, like I know, I know what I know. I know what

I know. And I started my foot off, man. I prepared my butt off, man, and I started all the time anyway, and uh, you know, we went at it, and I was sitting up there one footback. You know, I used to change one footback. So I'm gonna rush you. I keep you thinking. Most corner facts are at the mercy of the receivers. I flipped that whole game. Now you at the mercy of me because you don't know what I'm gonna do. So I'm in a sprint of stance and I'm gonna rush you on, gonna east back.

And he came at me, and we went at it, and next thing, you know, we're swaying. The funny thing about the whole thing though, how we didn't get thrown at the game? How we are thrown that the game? Somebody asking that. Yeah, but you know, in this day and time, we have been thrown that game, throwing that for at least three or four weeks. Man, But we don't get thrown out. And I just baiting them, baiting the baiting them. And that made a big play in the rest is history. But I hate that we went

to that point like we've been after that game. Even during the end of the game, we were back to we were still Yeah, we was talking during the game like like we we had healed it. We got it all out of us, and we healed it even before the end of the game. Man. But I love that brother, man, but that hurt my heart that we shouldn't have We should like, we shouldn't have got down like that compared today's game. So when you play, because I mean, everybody

is protected now. I think as a defensive player, uh, something you're taught completely to do as a youngster. You have to completely take it out of your mind. I see some guys getting hurd game trying to do it. Talk to us about that. It's a different game. It's it's so much like y'all game, you know now. Back then you go to the hold of the playoffs, you want to you know basketball, Yeah you're gonna get you get put down. Yeah, let him out, And it was

it was respective. Now you know, they can't get fouled, man. So it's the same thing in our game back then. Man, you gotta catch like lot in this you know, the known hitters in the game. Just cleaning shot with you, the quarterbacks is gonna get their heads taken off. Now you can't touch them. You can't. It's a whole different game, which I understand because I'm not the kind of guy saying, man,

these guys were better than us back then. Man, these dudes are bigger, strugger, and faster, and they have different technology. They got different workouts. Everybody got a chef. Now everybody got home gyms. I mean, these guys are ridiculous, man, I mean the size and the physicality of them. You got receivers to thirty right now running for threes. Man, we ain't had that bull jump back then. These have thrown me in at they're playing this game. But it's

a totally different game. The only difference is I don't think guys are playing with the medical capacity. They're playing with athleticism, and back back then it was athletes as well as the mental part of it. Talk to them. So we feel to say that it's similar in basketball, Like you have to understand people don't want to see because Jack and I were both defenders. Jack had a lot of offensive game too, but we also prided ourselves on defense. You know, such as you. So it used

to be a battle, used to be a war. People used to get knocked down, people used to get elbow Now is a part of the game. Now you can't touch anybody, you know what I mean. But you have to understand that they're selling a business. It's worldwide because of the Steph Curry shooting threes and and these guys Duncan they don't want to see no you know Indiana Detroit Defensive eight seven eighty five type games. No more.

So you have to evolve along with the game. Although we love and we missed that just like you loved and missed the way you played, the game has to evolve and if you can get stuck being one of them old players like I don't like that ship because you just have to understand the evolution of both games. Man, you know what I don't like, Man, I don't like this spellars just because I like Jordan's talk to him, man,

just talk out writing Lebron. That don't mean I don't like I mean, why say I like vanilla ice cream? That don't mean I don't like chocolate? What? What? What? Where we come from with this bull jump that we gotta put another brother down just because we're like another That don't make sense. It's just my preference. It's just the media plays a big part in that too, you know what I mean, to create a narrative, create excitement, trying to sell something, but fans don't understand that. Players

don't fall for this ship. But the fans don't understand that. Like it's just a battle, you know what I mean, Like you don't have to just because I respect his game, don't me and I don't funk with his game type ship right right, But I'm gonna tell you another thing we do as players. Back then, we were just bowling, y'all was just bolding. Now they're fishing. But likes they've checking the wab to see who lacking them, see who hating on them. Folks ain't came back then. You just

played the game. Man, You just want to get you to try to try to give it to him night at the night. Now worried about who like you, who following you, who riding with you, how many followers you got. That's the kind of little challenged bull joker. I just don't understand, man, Herman, Instead of focusing on what you're putting on the floor, of what you're putting on the ground. Herman. Her Herman was told me I was working at ESPNE with with him one day and he was like, Jack,

my apologoe career. I watch. He's like one thing I'm gonna tell you about the game that I see and he's not even in basketball, he said, he sees this about basketball from him from the outside looking in. More kids these days are interested and entertained about what the game can do for him. Then that they're actually loving the game. We didn't have done grow up, so we love the game first. That's all we had was basketball. We all we had with sports. So once we feel

like it lies we can make money off. Okay, that's a different feeling, but we grew up having no choice but to love what we was doing first. And that's a big difference. Now they're more they're more interested in can do for him. Man, you absolutely right. And Man, when I see you outside on the court with your like you outside see you you're missing how large that is you outside on the court with your kids. Why the last time you've seen some real kiss outside playing basketball?

Ain't nobody can play outside no more. Back in the day, man, we had down Hey man, I got next and my other part of the comp You're gonna be here in five minutes, right, Ain't nobody playing outside no more? Then if you ain't picked this cat, he gonna don't get the ball and busting on the court, so nobody ain't don't play. Somebody ain't nobody playing the thing. And then this this little dude I've thought to said another name, but he gonna take his ball to go home because

he ain't getting picked. So I'm like, he got to get always wanted them, So I don't even see that. But when I see you outside, man, playing with your short and I'm like, now that's basketball. But we shoot until the lights come over, till the lights come on. Yeah, different, you know they got so many that's there. I grew up. Man say they got so much technology now, and we all came from nothing. So I didn't have ship. I was from the time. I couldn't wait to get outside

until the lights came on. All day, sometimes no lunch, Sometimes find a way to go get a motherfucking thirty nine sing burger from McDonald's. But until the lights came I wasn't trying to be nowhere near the house. I could go like five or six neighborhoods away. Just remember it. Okay, once I could see the sun start, I gotta get closer because once my mom and my dad whistle, I gotta be home. But it's not like that no more. Man.

We was funking going to school because my bus, we bus stop over the play against this bus stop and we fucking because we're playing touch full on the roll. But for school, let the bus stop. I bust stops stop and we had to go circle. So that that's how I used to be. Now, everybody, you ain't working out unless you got to train them, unless you got seven or seven. But we played though we didn't even train them. Like we didn't train. We played. We just

played all the sports, all different sports. But they never had time to train in one area ever because we was always onto the I played football, baseball, basketball, and track in high school. So I was from sport to sport to sport, you know what I mean. There was never no training, Like I didn't train for basketball. Football is my best sport. But I didn't train for basketball till I got to the NBA, you know what I mean.

Like I was just man, so I know you football, I was the number one, the number one receiver in the country my senior year had eight touchdowns. Went went the broken toe. I was, I was chasing the record, so it started as turf toe. You know how bad turf toe. So I had to cut my cleats and everything played all the way through it and it ended up being I ended up breaking it a shattering where they had to go in and remove pieces. So that's

when I went into U c l A while. I didn't go out to play football my freshman year because I had a major back in the day, like a kaiser toe surgery. So the scars like this, long Jack, you didn't see how fun up my ship is. So my toe was messed up. But we're gonna compare when I see you, We're gonna compare my ship. My ship still looked good though. They just don't work for nothing. Oh no, if I don't he look good. I got one that sits so hot and the little ones. I

got one to sit up like that though. Yeah that's how Jack, Hey, Jack, tell us how he used to be going to school. Funk. When you were saying a minute ago, now I was, I was just that little I was pissing the beds. I was about nine. Wait, I used to wait. I used to wake up with fresh clothes. Are fresh to them? Motherfucker was still smelling like piss. Oh look like my older thing. He needed to Peter Bear the same one hit drows all over the house, man when well, I found drolls. I found

drows over the house. And man, and we want to we want to keep going in, but we want you to come in on the show, so we don't want to go too deep. So we're gonna end. We're gonna give you a few more things. But once all this clears that, man, we gotta have you in the studios so we can reminisce about how important you are. Gotta fly me there. I'm coming. I'm coming on my own, straight up, straight up. I'm coming to see y'all. Man. I'm coming to sit down and say, look, bad things, y'all.

Y'all don't understand. Man, y'all moving the needle, your challenging culture and you you're provoking change, man. And that's that's real talk. And I love that, y'all keeping one hunt because I'm saving some good questions I got for y'all, because I want to see you. I want to see the immediate response to what I want to see. We're gonna have a good, long conversation with you. We we're gonna finish off of these two things. NBA. You said you're big on basketball. Who was your favorite team and

player growing up? I didn't have a favorite team, but I had a favorite player. Uh. Dr J was my guy. He was he was a doctor. He was called a doctor and he didn't have a pH d. You're talking about a brother that we was smooth brother. That was swan brother. That was a playoff old playoffs. Oh yeah,

you know he do. Doc was so Doc was so cold back in the day, Man that that he took the imagination of a young young cat from folk Mys flaughter Man, and I just I just loved everything about the duck, howke cared himself on the field and off the field, and how people perceived him, how what they saw when they saw him. I loved it. So he was my guy. He was my guy going up. But see, I didn't really have a team that I like because I just like certain guys and I like things they

brought to the table. Man. And you know, Magic was bad back there, Magic madgick. You know, that that whole thing with them and the Pistons and then with Bird and the Celtics. I want the big Celtics fan back then. But I love the way they competed. I love their teamwork. Yes, God, they played hard. So it was it was so many different guys at the ice Man, George Garveld, come on, like, come on, man, the ice Man. That's the coldest picture ever made, wasn't it. It's the coldest puposed to go

down in history. We're nice that is that some players something man Man that was super player. So I was in that era man, and I love those cats. So current NBA players and and do you follow teams? Yeah, I'm crazy about Braun, you know, I love what. I want to interview Braun for CBS when he was in high school, and I remember some of the tough analysts basketball analysts at the time was hey, no, talking about he wasn't this, he wanted that? And why he should?

Why he had a Hummer H two in high school? And I remember being on National teav I said a hummer, y'all tripping about a hummer. Any bank would get his kid's mother any credit line? They won't because he's about to make a hundred time he signs his name and you're tripping about a hummer. You should be happy he ain't getting a Bentley Roles something. But I knew. I went to interview him when he was in high school and he had it. When you got it, you you

you recognize it. Y'all got it, So y'all recognize it when you see it. This cat and had it for a long time. Man. I love what Vince is given to the game. Vince Card, it's a Florida boy. I love catching what they've done for the game and how Vince, I mean, Vince was that? God? Vin? That's the best end game Ducker and I think I've ever seen in my life. Yes, yeah, ever ever ever Yeah. So there's so many cats that JA crossover. Man, I mean, come on,

how has he not in the game right now? Jamal Crawford? Man, is he not in the game? Has he not in the game? That hurts my feelings? That hurt my feelings to see him not after did he? What are you dropped last game? Fifty? How do you dropping fifty your last time on the court and you can't get back on the court. Tip of the most six a year. Yeah, man, there's al it's a lot of cats. Said that. I love I love them real cats, man. I love what y'all brought to the game. Told him, Hey, I told Stack,

I told Stack man, I was a fan. They came. Man, when when when he played the Golden State Dog, you're talking about whooping the mavericks Man. They physically pumped the mavericks Man and Stack was getting buckets. I mean you you they had a whole team of dogs and they was just you know, you know, you know, man, man, you know what I mean that man, Man Man, Matt was the leaders at the kind and everybody just followed. You know what I'm saying. Yeah, but y'all y'all was

different though. Man, y'all y'all had y'all did. First of all, y'all didn't kill it. Wouldn't know. Y'all respected the game. But on the court, it wasn't no respect the player. Like come on, man, know what y'all did to the marriage that series? Man came? No, no, it did, because you think that it was laughable. They had what they had sixty years that year there was the number one team in the West. We came in and took game

one and we knew it was over. We knew it. Yeah, But man, the way y'all did it though, Man, I mean, y'all, it was like it was like the Hood playing against Downtown Dallas. Man, it was like many but let this man, let me tell you something. Bet it was a bad boy. Man. Man, people don't understand a bad barring injury. He would have been one of the greatest point guards ever, no question. Yeah. But in every position and coming off the bench, y'all

had dogs. Y'all had some nasty dudes that that was giving you both ends, you know, and they want to give you both in There was some heck of a role players. They better play, they roll, they stepped outside, they roll, and I saw all that. Man. But shoot, I mean I love that series. Man, That's one of my favorite series. And I tell Seck every time I talked to him to see it that that there was unbelieve gotta We got a documentary coming out about that

team that we believe team. See, that's the kind of stuff I want to talk about. Off. I want to go every I want to know the first everybody on that team who this dude looks really everybody was somebody that was the team that everybody likes. So we was going hard on and off the court, and it was the whole team, the whole team, the whole thing. You know what. That's the trip about basketball, because I know

some basketball pleasant. They've told me some stories I love, like athletic stories, like I don't understand how you ain't got the twelve or fifteen cats, you know in the locker room on an organization, and you've got three different clicks? How does that work? So when I hear that, you know, but when I hear that y'all was the one team you're owning off the court, I love it because nowadays it's two or three different clicks. Like this dude got he got three cats to roll with him. Okay, he

got folk cats to roll with him. And these other kids, they the other cats, they're just in the middle. They don't know which way they want to go. How does that work? Man? The Wars was different. That was the only team that I've been on my whole career while I was in at least two with three people weddings on my team. That's how close we were. You know what I'm saying. I can I can say I was actually in the way and this Grossman and three people on that team in that way. So that's that's how

close our team was. Still still talk to each other to this day. To this day, I gotta I gotta begged second. Hold on, hold up, hold up. You know we normally have a bagging stetment prime where I asked, you know, for stuff. I got some shoes from cold and everybody else. Problem. I've been looking for two things and I know that you can find him. I need a cowboy jersey and the first Dion Nikes with the strap on top. Now I know you gotta past in the closet. No see, I'm a I'm a number guy.

I'm a number guy. I've been there for like thirty or fourteen years and when I flipped, so I know I don't have those. Now, you make a code at the company, and I'm pretty sure Tracy T. I'm gonna give you a name, and I guarantee you he could come up with Tracy T. Because yeah, Tracy T like T. He we designed those things together collectively. That's this is the first bag I'm in. This banging segment to this

is gonna be my my entrance. I never asked nobody for nothing, but I need for the first time, I need a uh, I need a San Francisco Dion and then them same shoes. So we're gonna exchange information offline. You need to sever I ain't never even as I never left in Jack's bangon segment. It's the first time for fun that we right have to do a collapse. Brod had to do a collap with your shoes. Yeah, he did a Type one two. Man, he did a

Type one two. Thanks to night. We're gonna leave with people don't understand that you played in the NFL, in the in the NFL and Major League Baseball and on a particular date, October eleventh, nine two. Talk to me about that day, great bear, you know that, ce Cee. That's one thing I can't wait to talk to you all about. Like you know, I've never drinking of smoke. You know what I know, you know what I know. But but but I want to talk to you all

about that. So then when I came there October level, October level, what was that? The two sports? One day? Was that day? I I love my football teammates so much and back then I was just Baseball was just using me too. You know, to come in and pinch around and pinch it, do all that stuff later because my contract actually ended in June, so I would come up with help Baseball just off the scrint that that those are my guys when the playoffs, I'm gonna come

and help you. But the dilemma was I had a full time football countract and Baseball was trying to make it look like I'm dogging them like my dog, and you my countract that over this June. So I'm coming over to help my guys. And it was the two sports on one day, and I had already told him what I was gonna do, and they try to make me seemed like I was the selfish one, the egotistical one. I'm not trying to play two sports. And one day you didn't even let me get into during basic and

we played against Marino. We're playing against Marino, and you're gonna let think I'm gonna leave that secondary with got me against Dupa Clayton and that more you're at shoe Man. So I had to get there for my guy. I'm gonna tell you what. That was one of the saddest moments of my athletic career and one of the most gratified, like flying in there and when the Cats actually saw me get on the bus the next morning. Dog, when my valcan teams and make saw me get on that

during bus that morning and they just started clapping. Man like my dog made in him. I said, in that seat, man, that crossed weird tears, man, because I knew I had done the right thing. And after the game, I was so exhausted mentally and emotionally because you know, I was getting hammered for doing the right thing. Man, I got hammered publicly for doing what was right by my teammates. And I flew back, made it to the baseball game. They ain't thinking about putting me in. I mean, everybody

could have got kidnapped off the team. They still wouldn't. They would have forfeited. They was not gonna put me in that day. And I said, cool, we're straight. I'm good. So it got down to the series we played against uh Blue Jays, I believe and David Koone. It's playing I'm bad like seven hundred off David Koone lifetime and baseball is about analytics, so you can't justify not putting me in. And David Koone pitching, and to this day I thank God for David Koones and I would have

never played in the World Series had he not. I got in and and and did this thing too. That's a different thing, Like we're gonna dive into who you really were because I think it's unfortunate. You know, maybe this situation obviously crazy and unfortunate. It's giving people a chance to watch older games and really have an appreciation because I really feel like this curve climate doesn't respect well. And I can't speak for everybody, but a majority it's

more what have you done for me lately? So for basketball, for football, you're getting to see people such as yourself and do what you do and forget. I just think we forget how amazing you know, the people that pay the way for us are. So I think it's it's great. But we're gonna really dive into that when you come in and sit down and rock with us. Man, But we really want to thank you. Hey, I'm gonna say this is a stack more so than stay. I love you, I appreciate you. I want you to stay old TV.

I want you to so every now I did just break it that a little bit, but we can't do We can't lose you, straight up. We can't lose you because your voice is real. Dog. So you know, I know we yeah, I know, we gotta keep it one hundred, but we need you, dog, sir. Yeah, and man, keep on doing what you're doing. Man, I'm right with you. You know, we all been going through the same old boy Jo. That's you know, God chose you, man, because no matter what you're going through, you coming through the back.

All the smoke, like all the smoke. But but we're making it, but we're making it sad. Hey, man, I love y'all. Brother. Man, we appreciate you. Man, I got you with legendary. But he gonna be back. He's gonna come in the s We're gonna really chop it up. But thank you for this special edition up to y'all right here with you Sanders. Hope you guys enjoyed this.
