Episode description

In this thought-provoking episode, Joe Rogan sits down with Oliver Anthony to explore the multifaceted issues surrounding immigration, political spectacle, and systemic inequality in America. Highlighting a recent ICE raid in Huntington Park, California, the episode critiques the dramatization of immigration enforcement as a reality TV show, drawing attention to the real human lives affected by such actions.

The conversation ventures into the complexity of American political rhetoric, featuring a surprising clip of Hillary Clinton from 2008 that resurfaces in the current immigration debate, revealing past and present political tactics.

Joe Rogan and Oliver Anthony also delve into the wider public sentiment of frustration towards systemic inefficiencies and income inequality, discussing how these issues spur protests across the nation. The episode underscores the broadened American discontent under a system perceived as rigged and unresponsive to the needs of all citizens.

Intro / Opening

Okay, so this last episode of Joe Rogan, I think it was June 13th on Friday, if I'm not mistaken.

Joe Rogan and Oliver Anthony

And he had this guy on, he has him on somewhat frequently. His name is Oliver Anthony. Don't know who he is, don't really care.

But the thing about joe rogan is sometimes he makes really good sense and he's lucid and he's clear and he and you know you just get it you know and and he's on board with with human rights, you know with especially with respect to the immigrants i did that one episode where i talked about it you know where he had this moment of clarity you know where he had you know the heavens parted and Joe Rogan got it.

But normally, he's kind of like, I see him as like this little butterfly that kind of exists in this like little perfect conservative garden that just kind of flits over from flower to flower. And he kind of picks up what he thinks is right. And he doesn't do any deep thinking, you know, just a little butterfly. It's a pretty flower. I'm going to go over there. So this episode that he just did is interesting on a lot of levels.

And it's got an interesting, I'll have to say it's an interesting quote from Hillary Clinton back in 2008. Interesting clip there of Hillary, and we're going to play that for you. But the first one I want to play here, folks, is about a raid. First of all, let's start it off like this, okay? We're going to cue up the raid, the NBC raid video clip that we've got.

The ICE Raid Controversy

So this is an ice raid that's taking place in huntington park california at 6 a.m in the morning and it's the medina home, so picture this ice comes into the driveway you know all all of the vehicles people are getting ready for work and inside the house and all of a sudden it's a full-blown raid.

And the thing about it here folks is that you know this has become like a tv show, for conservatives and for donald trump and for tom homan stephen miller you know all of these characters they're all they're all just biting at the bit to play a part in christy gnome by the way who's in this clip they're all just biting at the bit to kind of like get real live video of these raids you know i mean there's human lives that are impacted here,

there's families that are getting broken up people that have worked for years and years at jobs. Not convicts, not criminals, hardworking people. And again, for the lack of a little piece of paper, they otherwise could be hardworking Americans. Years, families.

And what do we have? We've got the Trump administration rolling tape while this is all going on, while they're doing the raids like it's some sick tv show i mean from my point of view i mean sometimes i i think that i think like everybody else but i think there's something deep depraved about this i think it's sick i think it lacks empathy. To make all of this a big show for TV. So here's how it went. So here's the raid, folks. Never heard that Kristi Noem is going to be at somebody's house.

Whole team, a lot of people, like, raiding my house like it was a show. Sabrina Medina showed a surveillance video of agents searching her Huntington Park home at 6 a.m. this morning. She captured Secretary Kristi Noem in the streets with agents. Other video shows Noem with members of her team putting vests on as agents moved into Medina's home and the home across the street. I could tell that she was doing a full camera crew production. She was getting hair and makeup done.

So she was putting on a show for people. And I really object to that. That's really not what our government should be doing. L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn, who served with Nome in Congress, came to the neighborhood and said these operations are frightening families and children. We have kids on this block. So I'm calling on her to stop these raids in our county. They had guns and the other soldiers didn't want to put their guns down.

Agents caught Medina as she was in the shower and demanded she come out. Throughout the whole process, they have to see me naked, you know. I'm getting changed. I feel humiliated. I'm pregnant. Oh, God. You know, folks, you got to recognize at some level this is sick and it's depraved. And the person that you heard there talking amongst this was L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn. and she called it a full camera crew production, hair and makeup. I mean, what in the hell? What is wrong with us?

You know, where did we lose the empathy? Where did we lose the reality of what it's like to be human? When did we lose that? I mean, to me, it's so sickening. And it's frustrating to see this going on. And folks, I have to remind you of this.

Back when biden was in office he was trying hard to pass immigration legislation you notice how nobody's talking about that right now nobody it's on nobody's docket it's on nobody's radar it's in power and i'm talking about the republicans right now that have the house and the senate in the presidency nobody's talking about immigration legislation that's meaningful, Back in 2024, you'll remember that Republican Senator James Lankford pushed

for bipartisan legislation that would have changed immigration. And who shot it down? Donald Trump shot it down. Folks, we are where we are with this production sort of situation going on with ICE raids because Donald Trump wants us to be here where we are today. That's why we're here. The summary of that legislation says despite its bipartisan support, Democrats like Murphy, Sinema, and Biden backing it, the National Border Patrol Council endorsed it.

It ran into strong opposition from conservative Republicans and President Trump, who preferred keeping the border crisis narrative alive for political gain. It ultimately failed to clear the Senate floor, losing roughly 49 to 50 on a 60-vote threshold. Don't forget about that, folks. We are where we are today because that's what Trump wanted. And we've got this sick show going on wherever they can do it. Hair and makeup. Christy Nell.

You can't make this stuff up. You really can't. We are living in some weird times here, folks. And I mean that more ways than one. But moving back over to that podcast with Joe Rogan and Oliver Anthony, He had this clip from 2008 about Hillary Clinton. I want you to hear this. Have a listen to this. One of my favorite clips is Hillary Clinton when she was running, I think it was 2012.

Hillary Clinton’s 2008 Immigration Stance

It might have been, when did he first become president? 2008, right? Obama? It might have been 2008. But she was running and she was more MAGA than MAGA. She was talking about the border and about people coming over here. If you want to stay, you get a stiff fine. And if you've done anything illegal, you get exported. No questions asked. And listen to this. Give me this full volume from the beginning. Wait till you hear this. This is wild. So I think we got to have tough conditions.

Tell people to come out of the shadows. If they've committed a crime, deport them. No questions asked. They're gone. If they've been working and are law abiding, we should say here are the conditions for you staying. You have to pay a stiff fine because you came here illegally. You have to pay back taxes. And you have to try to learn English. And you have to wait in line. If Trump, like, you have to wait in line. That's so MAGA.

I mean, but it just proves the point that none of that really means they're sitting in the green room in the back before that speech. And there's like some stuff written out and they're just like, oh, I got to try to remember all this crap. Like none of that meant anything, you know, like none of that. I don't think she even believed when she said it back then. In other words, it's all just the adtrade. Well, she thought it was what the country wanted to hear.

That's all it is. Yeah. It's all focus group shit. It's all what the country wants to hear. And that's exactly how Donald Trump won the presidency. He's doing what he thought the country wanted to hear. And that's how he won, Joe Rogan. I mean, it's not just Democrats that have got the focus groups. It's the Republicans that have got the focus groups. I mean, what the hell do you think Trump did? What do you think he said? Why he said what he said?

I mean, there's reasons behind it. the same reasons why the Democrats said it are the same reasons back then are the same reasons why Trump said what he said with all of the racist, racist overtones, you know, mixed in with it. But I just want to say, Hillary Clinton, I'm still with you on what you said back in 2008, right? If someone is a criminal, send them back. But as far as paying back taxes, they're currently paying taxes. As far as paying a stiff penalty, you know, screw that.

But the rest of it, I mean, that's what I've been saying. I mean, if these people are criminals, yes, send them back. But that's not what's happening, right? I mean, these people are in camo boots out there snatching kids off the streets. I mean, we're not just sending back criminals. I mean, and we're making a show out of it, for God's sakes. But that's where we are today. And I also want to throw this out there.

Protests and Public Anger

Here's a clip of Joe Rogan and Oliver Anthony, again, talking about how we generally, on the Democratic side, and let's face it, it's not just Democrats, it's independents, it's a lot of pissed off Republicans, too.

But the reason why people can't articulate why they're protesting out there you know like the no kings rally they seem to think that that we as a group and again it's independents it's republicans yes it's democrats that we can't articulate why we are protesting and i take issue with that folks but here he is. To go back to what you said at the beginning about those kids that are riding with the, and they don't really even know what they're riding.

They got the mask on, but they're doing this. And it's like, I guess what I mean is, is there's a bunch of human beings on earth, especially now, like in our, in this sort of like American culture and all the other sub series of it, like in Europe and everywhere is so Americanized now, but there's all these people who are really angry.

It's kind of like why it's the reason why, you know, there's so many of these videos where they interview like the Antifa dudes and they don't really even know why they're, they're not able to talk, they're not really able to articulate why they're there or what they believe. They're just there because they want to, they're just there to riot, you know?

There's this like general anger that I think has, that dwells in a lot of us towards the system that we realize is inefficient and ineffective and rigged. But it's just too complex, at least individually and through the means of the internet for us to identify who our enemies really are. And so instead it's like, let's just go do, Like, let's just go, let's go catch some shit on fire because at least it feels like we're doing something.

And did you hear what he said there? It's too complex to figure out, for us to figure out. The system is rigged. Oliver Anthony said, you know, we agree. The system is rigged, but we just, it's too complex. We can't figure out who is the culprit. My God, did you see the rallies today? The No Kings rally. We know who the culprit is. I mean, it's not that ambiguous. It's not nebulous. We know who the problem is here. We know who the problem is.

I mean, for example, folks, I've talked about this. Trump wants to kill health care for the poor if you make too little money. He wants to take SNAP away from the poor if you make too little money. In an effort to strip your health care and SNAP benefits, if you get them, they want to check your eligibility. What is it, every six months? something like that.

And like I've said, when the economy takes a crap and nobody is hiring at that point, the poor are going to hit the floor faster than anyone else. It makes no sense. I mean, what they're trying to do. I mean, no Joe Rogan, we know exactly why we're pissed off today. And another reason is the growing income inequality. I mean, it's not rocket science. Yes, we know why things are a mess. Yes, we want to change it. The rich aren't giving us a chance to share the wealth, folks. That is the problem.

They're not giving us any chance whatsoever to share the wealth. And in fact, the whole time here in the past 20 years, I don't have to tell you this, but you're working more efficiently. And there's an article that I can post out there, and I'll put it in the show notes, that it shows the productivity pay gap and it's from the Economic Policy Institute definitive evidence that we are working more productively yet they still won't give us a chance to share the wealth.

Mean, we've got artificial intelligence that's coming into the picture now.

Rising Income Inequality

Over here, we've got robotics that's coming into the picture. We, as Americans, are working infinitely more productively, but we're not getting compensated for it. And most of us out there can't afford stocks to share the wealth, and we're otherwise not getting a chance or an opportunity to share the wealth. Now, we know why we're pissed off here, Joe Rogan. The income inequality gap is rising, and the Trump trickle-down effect isn't working. It didn't last time, and it won't this time.

And there's another article that I'll post in the show notes. It's called Trends in U.S. Income and Wealth Inequality, and it's from the Pew Research Center. And it basically says that income growth has been the most rapid for the top 5% of families. But what about you? right? If you're in the top 5%, it's great. And again, I'll put the link out there so you can look at this acclaimed Pew Research study in the show notes.

I mean, that's great news if you're in the top 5%, but that's what they're trying to build in terms of the economy that benefits the top 5%, the oligarchs. So then just ask yourself, what is Trump doing to help everyone else that's not in the top 5%. What is he doing? Well, Trump will point right to the tax cuts that he's trying to pass as necessary to help you, the little guy. That's what he's pointing at.

But look, I've got this beautiful plan. You know, it's big, beautiful plan that's being negotiated right now with all these tax cuts. If you really, if some of you out there are on the sidelines here and you don't really believe that Trump is a trickle-down economics guy, just take a look at those tax cuts that he's trying to pass.

And in that package, you see million-plus earners, people who earn a million dollars plus, will see a larger tax benefit, typically ranging from 4% to 6% of their income, coming back to them if these tax cuts pass.

Whereas a household making about a hundred thousand dollars or less gets a much smaller increase around one percent in some scenarios middle-income people could even pay more in taxes if benefit cuts or tariffs offset their gains so i mean it's it's truly stacked against the middle guy and it's it's built by design to benefit the top five percent and that little summary actually comes from ChatGPT, who offered 15 sources to me that back up what I just said.

15 sources out there. So, I mean, it's crazy, folks. If you allow the Trump trend of trickle-down wealth to be the standard, your future will eventually crash and burn. In fact, you will grow old waiting for trickle-down economics to work for you. Not only that, your children will grow old waiting for trickle-down economics to work for them. And have you heard of the other solution here, folks, that they're peddling?

The latest thing that's coming from Tom Homan is to send immigrants home, right?

Trump’s Immigration Policies

That's what this whole thing's about, this whole big show that they're putting on. It's to send immigrants home so that you can pick the beans in the field, so that you can do the construction work, so that you can work in their factories and meet packing plants. Does that sound like a path to prosperity for you and again for your kids they truly believe that by sending immigrants home it will bring prosperity to you and your family.

In fact, here's what Tom Homan, who's the acting director of the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, ICE, has said. And I'm quoting him here. He says, But I truly believe that nobody hires an illegal alien from the goodness of their heart. They hire them because they can work them harder, pay them less, and undercut their competition. That hires U.S. Citizen employees and drives wages down.

So they really think that by getting rid of these people, it's going to create a vacuum where you can rush in and start picking the beans and working in those meatpacking plants. That's Team Trump's path to prosperity, folks. That's it. It's out in the fields. Pick them strawberries. Get in that meatpacking plant. I know you're going to love it. Them's great benefits. I mean, you can work that job. I'm not kidding here, for 20 years and you'll never ever get ahead.

Yeah, you might be able to get a new car every five or six years if you're lucky, but you'll never get ahead. So yes, going back to Joe Rogan and Oliver Anthony or whoever the hell you are, we know exactly why we are peacefully protesting. We know.

The Fight for Economic Justice

Trump and the rest of the rich won't give us a fighting chance to share the wealth, folks. That is the problem. And yes, Joe Rogan, that's one of the reasons why millions and millions of people are peacefully protesting out there today till next time folks.
