On Monday we got that answer as reports surfaced on Twitter that the team was working toward a one year agreement with free agent starting pitcher James Paxton. The deal is said to be worth $12 million plus incentives.

There was a clear need to add one more starting pitcher -- preferably a left-hander, and the Dodgers did just that. With Paxton in tow, the path to a trade for Marlins's star Jesus Luzardo is likely over.
