Episode description

Today's guest lives by the philosophy "I do not know what I can't do." Jackie Summers is the founder and CEO of Jack From Brooklyn. While working a successful corporate job, doctors found a tumor on his spine, basically giving him a death sentence. Needless to say, it gave him a new outlook on life and the motivation to create Sorel, a liqueur inspired by a popular drink in the Caribbean. Through trial and error, Jackie came up with what he believes to be the only shelf-stable version of the drink and in the process, became the first black man given a license to produce spirits in the U.S. after prohibition.  In this wide-ranging interview, Jeffrey and Jackie talk about the origins of Sorel, how a non-related business lunch landed the company's first investor, and about Jackie's other mission to tell the stories of underrepresented people.
