Klatt, PhD, RD speaks with a Christopher Gardner, PhD, and Matthew Landry, PhD, RD about their new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition titled “Effect of a ketogenic diet versus Mediterranean diet on glycated hemoglobin in individuals with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes mellitus: The interventional Keto-Med randomized crossover trial”. In this Episode, Drs Gardner and Landry detail the rationale for undertaking this trial and its design, the challenges in both improving and assessing adherence in free-living diet assignment trials, and the nuances in accounting for medication changes in dietary intervention studies.
